The U.S. Air Force has grounded its entire fleet of B1-B bombers after finding a problem with the plane's fuel system. That takes out a third of the Air Force's entire fleet of bombers. General Tim Ryan, commander of the Global Strike Command, said that he 'ordered a safety stand-down' on Tuesday. The decision was made after a 'ground emergency' on April 8 at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota—one of two bases where the B1-B is currently housed.(Snip) Of the 100 built, the U.S. Air Force decided in 2001 to retire 33, to pay for modernization efforts.

Also, more fallout from Compassionate George's Big Adventure in the Middle East. Break our equipment for nothing, and there's no money for repairs because we have Refugees and Migrants to support. FTA: "The bomber found new work with the start of the War on Terror in 2001, flying close air-support missions for the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan. But those missions, which involved slow flying with wings forward–not swept, as intended for penetration strikes–overstressed the B-1B's wings, causing cracks, the USAF has said. 'Due to the wear and tear placed on the B-1 fleet over the past two decades, maintaining these bombers would cost tens of millions of dollars per aircraft to get back to status quo."

Proof of the USAF’s silliness in trying to replace the A-10 with a bomber.

what a neat way to ground one of our most capable retaliatory weapons if it just so happens we need to act against the Chicoms. I reeeealy hope our military leadership has not been compromised but I find it hard to believe they haven't been.

Bit by bit, our military stength is rotting away, unmaintained and unreplaced. The ChiComs are pleased at what Traitor Joe is doing for them, in their employ.

Not unusual to have a fleet-wide grounding for one-time inspections, but newer better equipment would be welcome. The recapitalization of the entire AF fleet of fighters, bombers, and tankers has been moving too slowly.

This is the first pronouncement by an Air Force four-star general I've heard since the recent one about 86% of our pilots being white.

The forced retirement of ALL the quality general staff of the entire military under OBAMA is now beginning to rear it's ugly head! The consequences of poor leadership which cow-tows to politicians is ruinous. We're left with Affirmative Action leadership like Lloyd Austin!

Greatl, announce it to the world. Maybe we should announce we're dry docking our Navy's destroyers too. China, Russia, and Iran must live this. Look for movement near Taiwan, the Middle East and Ukraine.

In case you did not believe Obama is running everything behind the scenes and though his treacherous surrogates, this should convince you. What kind of an idiot would make this public announcement as Russia has 50,000 troops staged at the Ukraine border and China is about to invade Taiwan. You can't make this stuff uo!

...and then announces it to the world. Brilliant. Americans can't know what their government is doing, but the entire world--including our enemies--can know what our military is up to!

Relax. This happens to military aircraft every now and then and there's no need to light hair on fire over it. Airplanes break. Systems fail. They get found and fixed. Physics, friction, and gravity are real things and they make things not last forever. We sold 100 B-1B's to the Air Force. I know, I was a Rockwell B-1B flight line test director and helped get the DD-250's signed and delivered. I was the TD for the first B-1B delivered to Ellsworth. The author says there's only 47 and only two bases from which B-1's fly. I don't remember hearing about 53 struck B-1B's. I know a few crashed but 53? I don't think so Tim. How about eight class A's with four struck (non-fixable). That leaves, worse case, 92. You'd think this foreign "newspaper" was purposely trying to elicit reactions from false reporting. That would be quite a rarity, no? There WON'T be a front page story about the B-1B fix and their subsequent return to flight which WILL happen so de-flame your hair.

Well, that's interesting to say the least.
I wonder if it is true, that the planes REALLY need to be grounded.
I wonder why the Perfumed Princes found it necessary to tell the whole world about it, if it is true.
I wonder Biden (harris) [0bama] ordered it done to appease the Chinese and /or to decrease our chances if there is a war with China (or Russia).
I wonder if there are some actual patriots behind it and it is a strategy to make our enemies think that we are that weakened, when we are not really.
I wonder if another few layers of tinfoil for my hat will make me stop wondering about these things.

It's a news story and may just be USAF propaganda for some obscure reason. The ChiComs and Russians don't need a DM report to know what US military status is.

I am sad for our military service personnel as they have the fascists in control. The Carrier Roosevelt captain taking itself out of service in a public show for a virus the career bureaucrats knew could be treated like SARS and MERS. The Chicoms allowed to build military base manmade islands over the largest South China Sea Marine estuary without a peep. Chicom military presence at the entry to the Panama Canal. Cuba building bases for the Chicoms. Chicoms firing lasers at Air Force aircraft all over the world. And the young men and women that are least susceptible at five Navy bases around DC are still locked down for the Chicom virus while the rest of the country has opened up. Wouldn't want to be our allies, military run by commissars or our grandchildren. All planned!

Just curious, would the U.K.'s Daily Mail be able to find out if there are any parts of this plane made outside the U.S.? Or for that matter, would they be able to find out if there are any - important/or not - parts of the plane made inside the U.S.?

Assuming this isn't a head fake, these B1's has better be fixed asap. The shadow war between Israel and Iran is worsening while our msm has us looking the other way way this floyd verdict, covid 19 , and climate change. And Putie has drawn his line in the sand on Ukraine. And the chicoms can't wait to start shooting missiles at somebody. And Kimmie is equally trigger happy.

"The Bone" as it's affectionately known in the USAF... it was candidate Ronald Reagan's coup de grâce over ineffectual Pres. Jimmy Carter, who cancelled the B-1 program due to the super-secret "Have Blue" program (F-117 predecessor) that was still in development at the Lockheed Skunkworks. Silly Jimmy was going to put the nation's defense at risk because he thought Stealth Tech would make conventional bombers, like the B-1 obsolete. Ha! Today the F-117 is "retired" while the B-1B is still active! Go figure, Jimmy!
