The Gun-Control Melodrama

A new Democrat administration and two recent mass shootings mean it’s time for another episode of the gun-control melodrama that’s been running for decades. We all know the scenario: an obviously deranged person murders several people, Dem pols and pundits start fulminating about our lax gun control laws and gun-obsessed white males, followed by a bunch of ineffective proposals and policies that will do nothing about crime, but will annoy law-abiding gun-owners, which is ultimately the real purpose of the show––demonizing a political enemy.

The evil gun grabbers are back, and crazier than usual. FTA: "In fact, more people are killed by hands and feet than they are by rifles." Keep that one to toss out to anyone blathering about banning "assault rifles". And this is ALL rifles, not just the small subset which are the modern sporting rifles which the pajama boy leftists are frightened by. MSRs like the AR-15 type of rifles are just the latest version of "I want a hunting rifle like the one I had when I was in the Army". In the 1890s, bolt action rifles became the military standard, while the most common civilian rifles were single shots and lever action, NOT bolt actions. As more and more ex-military sought out hunting guns like the ones that they used in the service, bolt action sporting rifles became more common, eventually surpassing lever action and single shots in the market. When the military started issuing semi-auto rifles in WW2, it took a while for semiauto hunting rifles to catch up, but they did. And then after the AR-15/M-16 pattern rifles became the standard military rifles, civilians wanted lookalikes, too. Where the real military M-16s and M-4s are capable of full automatic fire (machine guns), all the civilian models are just the 'one shot for one trigger pull' type. Ultimately, the same as a revolver around since th 1840s. Each time you pull the trigger, the gun fires once. His analogy with street cars getting wings, spoilers, stripes and wide tires and such to make them LOOK like racing cars is fairly apt. That Camaro Indy Pace Car that you buy in the showroom may LOOK just like the one leading the field around the Indianapolis track on the pace laps, but it sure isn't the same under the skin. No 600 hp racing motor, no eyeball rattling racing suspension, no full roll cage and stripped bare steel interior. Same thing with an AR-15. It may look like a military 'assault rifle' but it just isn't. It's the most popular rifle design sold today, too. And these Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) are rarely used in crimes. The huge numbers of murders in the big, Democrat run cities are 99% done with handguns which were illegally obtained. And yet those murders are mostly ignored.

They searched for 50 minutes before finding the injured person, who had significant scalp and facial injuries. Gallatin County Sheriff Search & Rescue were called to respond on snowmobile with a rescue toboggan. The victim was loaded onto the toboggan and taken to a nearby ambulance. One of the main arguments being advanced by Eric Nelson, sole attorney for Derek Chauvin in his trial for the murder of George Floyd, is that the hostile crowd itself prevented the officers from attempting to perform CPR in the last minutes of Floyd’s life. Even the prosecution’s “use of force” experts admitted repeatedly on cross-examination that a hostile crowd would justify Chauvin keeping Floyd restrained until an ambulance arrived. An officer’s duty to provide care is overridden by his duty to keep himself, the suspect and the bystanders safe. As was evident from the videos (and

The New York Times' 'Russian
Bounties' Story Just Unraveled

On June 27, 2020, the New York Times ran a bombshell story: “Russia Secretly Offered Afghan Militants Bounties to Kill U.S. Soldiers” In the subsequent uproar, Donald Trump’s denial was seen as just another example of him being a Russian intelligence asset. Trump called it “fake news.” Meanwhile, the intelligence community was split. The NSA was never convinced of the truthfulness of the story and “strongly dissented” from the view of the CIA. By September, there still was no credible evidence that the Russians had paid anyone to kill U.S. soldiers. Today, Joe Biden announced sanctions on Russia, in part, for offering bounties on dead U.S. soldiers.

The NCAA reaffirmed its decision to refuse to hold college championships in states where laws “discriminate” against male athletes who identify as female. The board of governors issued a statement that “firmly and unequivocally” supports the inclusion of transgender athletes in college sports. The statement comes after several states have passed laws preventing biological males from competing in girls’ athletics. Apparently, the NCAA, which governs rules on competition in college sports, thinks it’s OK for biological males to compete against biological females. The only way they can allow this is if they ignore the biology in favor of being fashionable. In truth, the NCAA isn’t doing anything differently than

Minneapolis, Minn. suburb Brooklyn Center is once again the scene of rioting in the wake of the fatal police shooting of Duante Wright. Townhall Media’s Senior Writer Julio Rosas is on the scene providing updates. [Tweets] This is what the back and forth between the rioters and police looks like in Brooklyn Center, MN. Some business owners were prepared and are defending their property. Some weren’t and aren’t. The natural right of self-defense is what the Second Amendment is about. Not hunting. Anyone who interjects hunting into discussions of the Second Amendment is either trying to deceive or doesn’t know the amendment and its true purpose.

How Will the Pentagon Define 'Extremism'? 28 replies

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is determined to root out “extremism” from the ranks of the military. He has just concluded a 60-day series of “listening sessions” dealing with the question of how he should go about the task of cleansing the armed forces of bad thoughts and is now ready to begin implementing programs and policies to that end. But Austin has a huge problem. He has to be able to define “extremism” in such a way as to safeguard our constitutional liberties while rooting out the skinheads, the Klan members, the gangbangers, and violent revolutionaries that make up a small but significant fraction of the armed forces. What is “extremism”?

I was surprised to read (in The Los Angeles Times) that the Biden administration's "role model for America" is... California! He wants to "Make America California." That's is a terrible idea. Californians now rush to move out of California. Some hopeful folks still move there, but so many more leave that California now loses more than 10,000 citizens every month. In fact, the state will soon lose a congressional seat. Why do Californians leave? "Exorbitant tax rates, high crime rates, the failing public school systems, the exorbitant cost of living," says reporter Kristen Tate in my new video. So many Californians move away that there's now even a shortage of U-Hauls.

President Joe “Buy a Shotgun” Biden announced plans to “go it alone” on eroding gun rights on Thursday by announcing several executive orders. Biden issued diktats to regulate plastic gun “braces” for handicapped users, criminalize AR pistols, get tough on guns you can’t sell, and begin to federalize “red flag laws” that, by definition, deny citizens their right to due process. Biden announced that rights, like that pesky Second Amendment, are not “absolute,” as PJ Media colleague Tyler O’Neill reported. Rather, they’re malleable or entirely replaceable by his lights. Biden is doing this at the behest of the anti-Second Amendment groups as a political payback, even as America has

One of the shortcomings of maps showing the potential area of naval confrontation between China on the one hand and the US, Japan and Australia on the other is they commonly depict the surface of the sea. But underneath the waves lies an unseen world of communications cables through which the information economy flows and to which conflict will naturally come. "People think that data is in the cloud, but it’s not,” said Jayne Stowell, who oversees construction of Google’s undersea cable projects. “It’s in the ocean.”…Content providers like Microsoft, Google, Facebook and Amazon now own or lease more than half of the undersea bandwidth.

As every year passes, the self-proclaimed progressive “brights”–– those who “follow the science” rigorously, they claim, when making and supporting public policies–– endorse as proven facts beliefs and policies that are driven by ideological or venal self-interest rather than truth. If they continue, the consequences will be the bankruptcy of our culture, economy, and political freedom. How did this happen? How did the nation go in an instant from disbelieving every utterance of Donald Trump to robotically repeating — and acting on — every claim that falls out of Joe Biden’s mouth, no matter how disconnected from the truth? The most glaring example involves Biden’s fact-challenged tirade against Georgia’s new voting law. At his first and only press conference, Biden declared the state’s efforts to protect against voter fraud were worse than Jim Crow, “un-American,” “sick,” and “despicable.” (This was the same press conference where moments later Biden bragged about how much time he’s spent with China’s genocidal communist dictator before calling him “a smart, smart guy.”)

Psaki said she hadn't spoken to President Joe Biden before the morning briefing, so didn't know if he'd watched it, but said it served as a 'reminder' that 'too often in this country law enforcement uses unnecessary force, too often resulting in the death of black and brown Americans.' She said the shooting was unnecessary after Chicago cops released bodycam footage showing the boy had a gun and dropped it just before the officer opened fire.

With all this push for Hollywood “diversity” one often wonders if Hollywood has a vendetta against traditional standards of movie making. According to one insider, that’s exactly the case for at least one major studio. Sci-fi author Nick Cole, co-author of the Galaxy’s Edge series, claimed that during a pitch meeting, a major Hollywood studio passed on a recent project he had been working on, citing the fact that they’re done producing content for “White, Christian, Trash.” Oh wow, that’s a hell of a way to say it. Perhaps this is the sentiment underlying Hollywood’s spate of inclusivity-over-everything pledges they’ve made in the past few years.

Anybody who’s taking Dr. Anthony Fauci seriously probably needs to stop doing so. He endlessly moves the goalposts to maintain his unlimited power over the American people, something Democrats support. That’s why, on Thursday, during House testimony, Rep. Maxine Watters (who is a low-rent harridan) tried to shut down Rep. Jim Jordan’s efforts to get Fauci to say when enough Americans will be vaccinated so that COVID restrictions can end. The past year has shown that Fauci either has no idea what he’s talking about or is trying to advance an agenda that invariably has to do with maintaining the 2020 status quo of lockdowns, isolation, and masks.
