The End of an Era, or

There is a latent fingerprint being revealed across this country in the sparsely populated Red Counties. Nearly all these areas were claimed by settlers both before and after the Homestead Act. That baseline condition back then was a solitary life, initially with larger families, that remains endemic to farmers and ranchers to this day. (snip) the work from home concept now in vogue is already driving a migration to the hinterlands by people who might otherwise have grabbed their Starbucks on their way into the mega office building where they used to work. The Author's analysis fails on two fronts. First, no, the new citizens don't become smitten with bucolic wonder. They drive like the only reason they ever obeyed a traffic law was because of the likelihood of getting caught. My view of humankind's willingness to act in accordance with the general good -- even if nobody is watching -- has diminished greatly since the arrival of COVID. Second, we never lacked a sufficient number of conservative thinking, patriotic Americans. What we've suffered from is a group of statists who have been trained to believe since 1992 that they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Comey had a chance to stop that train and blew it. And now Soros has populated ever more DA offices around the Country with little Comeys. No, more conservative farmers will not solve this problem.

I thought this was a wonderful Article. My Grandparents all were Farmers, so I grew up experiencing that lifestyle. I was raised in Town, but I always loved the weeks visiting them in the summer or Christmas vacation. I was born in 1941, so I do remember some of the things this Author talked about like the Grange for meetings or visiting the General Store that always had very large glass jars of Candy well within a child's reach! My grandparents were Dairy Farmers, so it was interesting to go and watch the "milking". Later on they had electric machines that did that work for them. They still did not have indoor plumbing when i was very young. They had a hand pump at the kitchen sink and the bathroom was in the Apple Orchard! It was a wonderful life for them and they stayed on the farm until they died. Most Farmers did that! They were hard workers and very Healthy! I do think many young people will look for a different life than before Covid. They have experienced Both Parents at home for a year! That is something they will remember. Also Parents reading and playing games for entertainment became popular again. They had a peek at a simpler life and I think if they have a choice, they will want to hang on to as much of it as they can.

I suspect the author of this piece is in a big hurry to stake his claim on a new theory so he can take credit for the idea for a few decades, just in case it proves to be accurate. I'm not buying the theory. Blue staters who move to the open country in red states still get their news slanted by CBS-NBC-ABC-CNN-CNBC. They'll soon be demanding that their open range high schools change names and mascots by reason of some perceived offense long ago, before students became snowflakes.

My taste of that life goes back to my great grandparents on my mother's side. They settled in Michigan after the Blackhawk war moving from the East where they had been since, well some since the Mayflower. My great grandmother still cooked with wood despite grandpa and his brothers installing a stove that was half gas and half either coal or wood. There is nothing that will ever top the smell of a traditional farm breakfast cooking on her wood stove. They were also dairy farmers #3, and supposedly my mother's mothers father was the first to pasteurize milk in the state of Michigan and he did it free for neighboring farms. He was going to med school until his father passed and he had to run the farm instead. The one room school where my grandfather went is still standing. He graduated at the top of his class since he was smarter than the other guy. I know his education surpassed mine, just don't know how much of that gap is attributable to the school and how much was his insatiable thirst for learning which I witnessed into his 98th year. Seriously the man never stopped. Let's remember that the communists made their way to the farms in the USSR as the successful independent thinking farmers (Kulaks) became public enemy number one.

Nonsense. 'Working' from home by being a keyboard warrior or scanning screens with a headset are a FAR, FAR, different 'work,' than the actual hard work of farming or any other blue collar job that built most of the small towns that aren't bedroom communities for some city. IT IS THE WORK that makes one develop common sense about merit and reward. When YOU put the sweat needed to make a farm payoff or YOU mine the coal to power all those screens, you tend to have a short line of sympathy for parasites who tell you how to live and what to do with your money. The 'woke' crowd won't ever get a clue until they are forced to do the actual work needed to survive a bad year of weather or do something to feed themselves.

Ann Coulter explains the status

The trial of Derek Chauvin grinds on. Currently, the prosecution is still putting on its case, but it may want to stop doing so before the court is forced to dismiss the case altogether. As Andrew Branca, at Legal Insurrection, explained after the eighth day of the trial, “once again, the defense weaponizes prosecution ‘expert’ witness against the prosecution case.” But if you want the full flavor of the madness in Minneapolis, you must read Ann Coulter’s case summary. (snip) if the jurors wish to live, the mob has already told them they’d better find Chauvin guilty. The problem is that the prosecution’s witnesses are destroying the case.

America and the West’s policy of “constructive engagement” with Communist China make up the most egregious case of wishful thinking in history. For almost fifty years, the West has pumped trillions of dollars into the Chinese experiment and now has little to show for it except a much stronger China. Fortunately, many Americans are now waking up to the dangers of dealing with the Chinese dragon. It is not a moment too soon. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has made some interesting statements in recent weeks about the Fed’s view of inflation. In summary, Chairman Powell has stated that overall inflation remains below the Fed’s 2% long-term objective, and that while reopening of the economy could produce price increases later in the year, inflationary pressures from rising prices are likely to be neither large nor persistent. Given the transient nature of these effects, and a long history of deflationary pressures in the U.S. and around the world, Chairman Powell believes that inflation isn’t something to worry about. If Biden were merely senile, I’d fear for America, but perhaps summon up some sympathy for him. But he’s not merely senile. He’s a vicious, creepy, stupid man, and his non-stop attacks on Georgia are Exhibit A in the case against him. In his latest pronouncements, not only did Biden continue to lie about the Georgia law, but he implied that the Masters Tournament should move from Augusta, Georgia, where it’s been held since 1934 as if golf courses are fungible, not unique. (snip) Bobby Jones, one of the greatest golfers ever, was a club co-founder and he helped design the course. He also started the Masters Tournament.

The lie that George Floyd was murdered by racist police officers in Minneapolis has made its way around the world several times over, leaving countless violent riots and more than $2 billion in property damages in its wake, but it seems that the truth is finally putting on its shoes. In June of 2020, 60 percent of surveyed adults deemed George Floyd’s death to be murder at the hands of police officer Derek Chauvin. As of last month, a little more than a third of Americans believe that. That’s a stunning near-reversal of public opinion.

On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced new executive actions on gun control, trying to limit “ghost guns” and to make it easier for people to flag their own family members who shouldn’t be allowed to purchase firearms. In announcing his gun restrictions, Biden specifically addressed the Second Amendment. While Biden insisted that none of his gun control measures impinged on the Second Amendment, he also insisted that “no amendment to the Constitution is absolute.” “Nothing, nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment. They’re phony arguments suggesting that these are Second Amendment rights at stake for what we’re talking about,” he argued. Then came the key statement:
