Senator Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) said he would oppose raising the corporate tax rate to 28 percent, a key component of the Biden administration’s infrastructure bill, in a radio interview with West Virginia’s Metro News. “As the bill exists today, it needs to be changed,” Manchin told host Hoppy Kercheval. The senator added that he could support raising the corporate tax rate to 25 percent, but not to 28 percent as envisioned in the bill, because it would hurt the country’s market competitiveness. “It’s more than just me, Hoppy,” Manchin said. “There’s six or seven other Democrats who feel very strongly about this. We have to be competitive, and we’re not

I detest Manchin. He is the most disingenuous critter in Congress. His daughter, Heather Bresch, may be worse. In case you did not know, she is the former CEO of the drug company that spiked the price of Epipens to $300 apiece. She was also involved in outrageous academic fraud. She was awarded an MBA diploma from West Virginia University. A newspaper discovered Bresch had completed less than half the credits in the program. Eventually, the degree was rescinded. The President of WVU (close Manchin family friend, the Provost, and two officials in the college of business went down in the scandal. As for Heather, in 2015, she said, “I still think I earned my degree.”

In 2012, Manchin won the senate with 60% of the vote, and in 2018, he won reelection with 49% of the vote. Trending downward in a conservative state that awarded Donald Trump 68% of the vote in both 2016 and 2020. In fact, Trump made all 55 counties red in both elections. Manchin knows the voters are paying attention to what he does, and he is not torn between what Chuck Schumer demands of him and what the voters back home demand.

Biden Gun Speech Filled With Falsehoods 11 replies

President Joe Biden made numerous false and misleading statements while unveiling a package of gun-control actions on Thursday. Biden falsely described how federal firearm laws work as he called for Congress to amend those laws. He pushed the Senate to pass H.R. 8, which would ban private gun sales unless done through a licensed dealer, by claiming there is a special exemption for sales made at gun shows. "Most people don't know, you walk into a store and you buy a gun you have a background check," Biden said in his speech at the White House. "But you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever

Joe Biden today announced executive orders for gun control in the Rose Garden, declaring “gun violence” a “public health crisis.” We’d given a preview of what he was likely to do yesterday and it was right on target. From Fox News: Biden is asking the Justice Department (DOJ), within a month, propose a rule to stop “ghost guns,” which are “kits” people can buy legally then fully assemble to create a functioning firearm that does not have a serial number. Biden is also asking the DOJ within 60 days to propose a rule on braces used for handguns, which make them more accurate

On Thursday, President Joe Biden announced new executive actions on gun control, trying to limit “ghost guns” and to make it easier for people to flag their own family members who shouldn’t be allowed to purchase firearms. In announcing his gun restrictions, Biden specifically addressed the Second Amendment. While Biden insisted that none of his gun control measures impinged on the Second Amendment, he also insisted that “no amendment to the Constitution is absolute.” “Nothing, nothing I’m about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment. They’re phony arguments suggesting that these are Second Amendment rights at stake for what we’re talking about,” he argued. Then came the key statement:

Joe Biden’s “infrastructure” bill isn’t about improving America’s roads, bridges, and other elements of our infrastructure. It’s about transforming America as radically as can be done through spending legislation. We shouldn’t be surprised, therefore, that the legislation includes an attack on single-family zoning. Stanley Kurtz has the details. He begins by providing the context: With the introduction of his massive, $2.3 trillion “infrastructure” bill, President Biden’s campaign to end suburban single-family zoning has begun. If you think this issue was debated and resolved during the 2020 presidential campaign, you are mistaken.

This week, on the basis of whole-cloth lies, major corporations went to political war with the state of Georgia. The lies at issue revolved around Georgia's new voter law, characterized by both Stacey Abrams and President Joe Biden as a new form of Jim Crow. What do these dastardly new voter restrictions do? They require an ID number to receive an absentee ballot, with language identical to that of federal law; they bar electioneering within 150 feet of a polling place or 25 feet of voters in line, including handing out food or water for partisan purposes; they increase the number of mandatory days of weekend early voting;

WASHINGTON — Justice Stephen Breyer on Tuesday said liberal advocates of big changes at the Supreme Court, including expanding the number of justices, should think “long and hard” about what they’re proposing. Politically driven change could diminish the trust Americans place in the court, Breyer said in the prepared text of a long speech he gave remotely Tuesday to Harvard Law School students, faculty and alumni. His talk, Breyer said, “seeks to make those whose initial instincts may favor important structural (or other similar institutional) changes, such as forms of ‘court-packing,’ think long and hard before embodying those changes in law.”
