George Floyd popped “what are thought to be two Percocet pills” before his fatal encounter with police, the lawyer for ex-Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin said at his murder trial Monday. Defense lawyer Eric Nelson said during opening arguments that Floyd’s pals told police that they had trouble waking him up after he took the drugs on May 25, 2020, the day he died while in police custody. “Mr. Floyd’s friends will explain that Mr. Floyd fell asleep in the car and that they couldn’t wake him up to get going,” Nelson told the jury. “They thought police might be coming.”

Not "may have taken" Rebecca and Jorge. "took".

At least he didn’t die from a black on black shooting in Chicago with an illegally obtained gun.

That guy had blocked arteries. One 90% blockage. He had enough drugs in him to cause cardiac arrest. And that’s what happened. Instead of riots, people should use Floyd’s death to teach people to stay away from drugs. But then I’m kidding myself. That would make to much sense!

What is the likelihood that he actually "couldn't breathe" because of the fentanyl in his system?
I know I risk being called a racist by those who have given him sainthood for even bringing up the possibility....

Very little word of Floyd's drug intoxication will reach the public. If the jury acquits due to death from drugs, look for it to be spun as 'systemic racism,' and brace for another round of riots.

The reason for the “may have” is that apparently the manuracturers of fake oxycodone (percocet) are lacing it with tentanyl.
"Fake oxycodone pills containing deadly fentanyl raise alarms with Twin Cities health and law enforcement officials
Look-alike tablets are laced with lethal fentanyl.”

Go and read about “excited delirium” and you may understand what Officer Chauvin was trying to prevent when he was keeping an agitated Floyd immobilized until paramedics arrived. You’ll learn a lot.

Percocet is a drug that hampers the user's ability to breathe.

Spring is in the air - - that means the Minneapolis "community" has a pent-up need for new sneakers, T-shirts, barbecue grills, shorts, sports equipment, picnic gear - - and, of course - - the continuing need for I-phones, computers, TV sets, jewelry, liquor, and SUVs.
What better excuse to get them for free - - than to "riot" - - regardless of the St. Floyd verdict?

However it happened is entirely irrelevant.
He killed himself with a massive drug overdose.
The police had no part whatsoever in his death, other than working to prevent it.

Downtown Minneapolis is being fortified with lumber right now. Try buying some plywood in Minneapolis or surrounding burbs! If you can find any, it is priced at 2 to 3 times the normal price. All will eventually be turned to carbon as verdicts are read. Doesn't matter what they are! Gas cans are being filled and brick piles are being built right now...

I believe Floyd told the officers, as he was being arrested and placed in the squad car, that he had been 'boofing.'
Boofing is urban slang for taking drugs anally.
It is important to note that if Floyd told the officers about boofing, the 2 percocet pills might have been the proverbial opiod straw that broke the camel's back, and in a strange way, Floyd was trying to put the officers on notice as to his dangerous condition..
And that, in turn, might justify the behavior of the officers, who believed they were protecting Floyd from himself.

Percoset is extremely hard to get with a prescription these days. Hubby has chronic pain and those were his pain meds if the pain got to be too much - a 90 day prescription lasted him a couple of years so he used them wisely. Then they switched him to other meds that don't work as well. My question is how did Floyd get it.??

I can't wait to hear the cross examination of the prosecution's expert witnesses and the defense portion of the trial. I am positive that there will be cries of "he was a good man", "character assassination", "he's not here to defend himself because of Chauvin!", and other comments abut what a great guy George Floyd was. Everyone is expected to forget his criminal record, history of drug abuse, and actions which led to being put into the LEGAL choke hold. I hope the jury is hidden kept anonymous and kept away from the public so that they can fairly judge the trial.

#4, Given the fact that Fentanyl is about 100 to 300 times more potent than morphine, it's highly likely. Plus the fact that he was lying face down would have exacerbated any difficulty he had in breathing. But there would be no way to have known what all was in his bloodstream at the time of his arrest.

#16, per usual m the US, they will punish the law-abiding for the sins of the criminal, by making it much harder for folks in pain to get relief but the criminal always finds a way.

George Floyd had Covid and his lungs were filled with fluid. That's why he couldn't breath. Taking a large amount of hard drugs was the last thing his lungs could take. That's why he's dead. Why are liberals so anti-science?
