Days after the Ever Given became lodged in the canal, its rudder has been freed and dredging is complete. Some salvagers hope it could be freed this weekend, but the wait for shipping to resume continues. Egyptian authorities Wednesday were engaged in a complicated effort to dislodge a giant container ship stuck in the Suez Canal, blocking all traffic on one of the world’s busiest shipping arteries. The huge vessel got stuck in the canal sideways, with its bow wedged in one bank and its stern nearly touching the other, on Tuesday during a dust storm when wind speeds reached 40 knots, according to a person familiar with the incident.

Comments:

It’s exactly the same as the posture of a freighter going sideways.

Sabotage? Bet thousands of large ship go through the canal every year, and all of a sudden one has a problem? How much will this effect oil shipment to the west, in particular the United States? Especially with Biden curtail US oil production? This won't effect oil to China at all.

Sorry, long story time..again. Ok as I have mentioned we travel by motorhome. And older diesel pusher. Great chassis (not spouse, bus) and ok interior. Seems it has only selected moments for breaking down. Desert between LasVegas and Utah border (about 1/2 way) And the best recent one was Between Little Rock and Memphis (couple of years ago now). During that time each side of the freeway was down to 1 lane. So you KNOW where I had to blow a tire. I have a emergency roadside service (in a Motorhome or trailer, you a fool not to!) The tow showed up quick because they were contracted to keep the freeway clear. Once on scene, they noted they could only tow a max of 5mph for the 3 or 4 miles to the next exit due to the transmission. The Troopers were cool about it and major props to them. So about 1.75hrs worth of traffic is behind me. It was AMAZING how many people thought we were #1 as they drove by! Anyway, my point is this stuff DOES happen. As I read he got blown into the side, how he jammed it was more of poor emergency execution. This will get dealt with and the market will adjust, perhaps the concept of JIT stock will be pushed for at least a 30day or whatever stock on hand. Meanwhile, I can feel for that ship jockey as he gets towed out and pushed to the side. Trust me Bro, just smile and take it. While my wife can't fire me for blowing a 3yr old $550 tire, she might have liked to. Thanks for nothing GoodYear.
