Governed by Geezers

Last Thursday, President Joe Biden was allowed out of his protective bubble to deliver a nationally televised address to the nation. This was big news in Washington, as Biden has been in hiding since taking office. Normally a new president spends his first few weeks in office making the rounds, chatting with the media, and doing what amounts to a victory lap around Washington. Biden has not done any of that. Even though the American media is stuffed to the gills with toadies and rumpswabs, there is always the chance one of them accidentally asks him a real question. Worse yet, there is the chance he tries to answer.

FTA: The stated reason for the address was to inform the public about the party’s heroic effort to fight the Covid panic. The real reason, of course, was to prove that Biden was not already dead. He shuffled out to the podium like a sad old man in a nursing home and mumbled through a mostly incoherent speech. It was a good reminder that in his prime, Joe Biden was a glib dunce. Now he is no longer glib. The absurdity of the performance was amusing, but it was also sad. This man should be at home playing with his grandchildren, whose names he never remembers. My loathing for Joe Biden goes back decades, back to when he REALLY thought he was a stud and was nasty and ugly to anyone his own insecurity lead him to put down. A verbal punisher. (Forget about Cornpop and the chain.)

My God, this is a depressing read. Unfortunately it’s also on point. I have one small nit to pick, however. We’re not being governed so much by a gerontocracy as we are being ruled by a kakistocracy.

Thanks very much for posting this insightful piece. I have really wondered about this “geezerification” of the federal government for some time. We have known the press covers up for disabled ancient Senators with serious medical issues whose young unelected staffs do the job, etc. However, as I am considered a “geezer” myself, its kinda hard to be objective. Where America ends up is not pretty, according to this piece.

Thanks #5. Don't quit Seinfeld, though. Seinfeld marks the last time libs were actually funny - and it's very applicable to current times: "Remember George (Joe?), you're not lying if you don't think (or can't remember?) you lied."

It is remarkable to see how quickly the unified opinion against former President Trump and for the alleged necessity of removing him from the White House has cracked apart since that goal was achieved. Following the inauguration, there were endless purposeful assurances that the former president would be pursued to the ends of the earth for his iniquity. (Snip) Every informed person in the world knows that the events of January 6 were the result of a loose sequence of facts that were only allowed to aggregate into the assault on the Capitol because of the malice or incompetence of Trump’s enemies.

For the past four years, Democrats and the Washington media have suspended disbelief about the Steele dossier’s credibility by arguing that some Russia allegations against Donald Trump and his advisers have been corroborated and therefore the most explosive charges may also be true. But recently declassified secret testimony by the FBI official in charge of corroborating the dossier blows up that narrative. The top analyst assigned to the FBI’s Russia “collusion” case, codenamed Crossfire Hurricane, admitted under oath that neither he nor his team of half a dozen intelligence analysts could confirm any of the allegations in the dossier — including ones the FBI nonetheless included in several warrant applications as

As the federal response to Chinese influence at American universities falters, Tennessee is determined to pick up the slack by becoming the first state to ban the Chinese government-funded Confucius Institute from public universities. After President Joe Biden scrapped a Trump-era proposal that would have required universities to disclose their foreign monetary ties, Governor Bill Lee realized that he needed to act quickly to protect the state's universities from Chinese influence. The Tennessee Republican introduced a bill in the state legislature that would require the public universities to sever ties with the Confucius Institute.
