On Monday, the Vatican reaffirmed the Roman Catholic Church’s 2,000-year-old doctrine that marriage is between one man and one woman and that homosexual acts are illicit. Therefore, the Vatican stated that the church cannot bless same-sex weddings because that would lead to confusion about the doctrine of marriage.
This should not surprise anyone with a basic familiarity with historic Christianity or with the Roman Catholic Church. The New Testament clearly condemns homosexual activity and Jesus explicitly affirmed the teaching of Genesis that marriage is between one man and one woman. The Catholic Church has a 2,000-year tradition of upholding this basic definition of marriage

Wow, the two major religions of the world now agree on at least one thing, homosexuality is not normal or acceptable to God. Liberals must be going nuts trying to deal with that.

I never thought there would be a day when I would be surprised at a headline like this. I wonder if the "devout Catholic" in the White House will comment? How will Rome handle the "devout Catholic" when he officiates at another same sex "wedding?"

It’s very refreshing to hear Pope Frankie make a statement that is actually Catholic instead of Marxist.
Xiden should be excommunicated for taking the first step toward legal homosexual marriage when he was VP. And then there’s the whole abortion thing. I’d love to be able to see his eventual meeting with St. Peter and God.

FTA: Why did CNN describe this report — full of caveats expressing hope and encouraging support for people who identify as homosexual — as “combative”?
Answer: CNN hates the Catholic Church. Period.

One issue in the quoted part of the article. Some prophets in Genesis had more than one wife.

So the parish priests screw around with altar boys because they can't marry them ?
And the bishops and cardinals cover it up because they are marritally deprived ?
You Catholics sometimes make Joel Osteen look like one of the good guys and he is definitely NOT.

Whoah! A lot of liberal thongs are getting twisted over this don't you think? I'm surprised the fake Pope hasn't weighed in and said it's ok for not a man and a woman to get married...

And Noah welcomed couples aboard his cruise liner...none of whom had been married. The deeply cynical part of me questions if Pope Marxist I isn't in cahoots with SorObamaBiden, the CCP and the NWO. I mean, just to give the US government an excuse to come down brutally hard on the RC church...and then the others. Headlopper boys club to be held exempt.

Thank goodness for them sticking to this, as the rest of society crumbles into a Sodom and Gomorrah of hideous corruption, sin and destruction, at least something is holding.....for the time being.
The Communist Pope could literally do anything.

What our gay loved ones must understand is this: the mission of Jesus is a rescue mission. If you wish to "join the Church" to be rescued from sin, you have always been welcome. But if you wish to join the Church and keep your sins...that is a self contradiction.
In this regard you are just like the rest of us. Is that a deal breaker for you? Well, you are not the first Rich Young Man to walk away.

To any posters here who think we faithful Catholics want all of those active homosexuals in the ranks of the priesthood, bishops, archbishops and cardinals, rest assured, we do not. They slithered their way in like the vipers they are, and we want them gone, gone, gone! And prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, if they have committed crimes against anyone, ESPECIALLY children.

Witness the screams of horror from all those who interpret every utterance of Pope Francis as if he had denied Christ himself.
