An Air traffic controller is ringing alarm bells about the Biden administration’s mask mandates, warning that the face coverings are creating a serious safety hazard.
Investigative journalist Alex Berenson reported on Twitter that he received an “urgent warning” from an air traffic controller who works at a major Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The whistleblower told Berenson that the FAA issued a guidance about a month ago requiring controllers to “wear masks at all times” while at work and in position, and warned that the directive could have devastating consequences for airline passengers and pilots.

Common sense will tell you that the Biden-Harris FAA face mask policy is a disaster waiting to happen when air traffic controllers’ instructions are not accurately understood by pilots, especially foreign pilots who are not fully conversant in the English language, as they approach, land, take off from and climb out of large US international airports. If a disaster does happen, how the Biden-Harris Administration will blame that disaster on Trump remains to be seen!

Absolutely mind boggling stupid and negligent. As a former pilot I can attest one of the most difficult tasks piloting an aircraft is accurate and timely communications the lack of which imperils safety. Masks hinder communications and the person or persons that instituted this rule should be fired and held personally liable for any delays or accidents this stupidity causes.

Perhaps if the installed one was in a plane and mistakes were made and a grievous error occurred...

But, in the event that miscommunication caused a crash, no one would have died from COVID, right?

What have the Air Traffic Controllers done to demand that this insanity cease?
Are they fighting back? Or have they wimped out?
If a plane crashes because of this insanity the FAA will say "We're so sorry" but no one will held responsible.
The TV series "Air Disasters" shows how most fatal aircraft crashes are caused by easily preventable human error. It's said that amendments the FAA Rules and Regulations to improve safety are written in blood.

A mandate is not a law. Refuse to wear one in the interest of personal choice of freedom to be responsible for your own body and for the public safety of others.

Mask mandates are marginally legal only because of a vagueness about "health". This issue puts the health granted by a mask against the health (and lives) of passengers (and crew) in an airplane.

If a jet crashes because of the Biden Mask Mandate will the people who were killed be counted as Covid deaths? Biden & company will then lock down the airlines due to increased deaths related to Covid on commercial airliners. Sounds like Biden/Democrat logic to me.

Why not just designate ATC people as priority COVID vaccine patients and solve the problem. What is is about government that has to make things as complicated as possible?

People try talking through face masks, and I cannot understand a word. Walmart has people from everywhere, speaking in unknown tongue already. It is very hard to discern what anyone is saying these days through a face mask. I pull mine forward and away from my face when I need to get through to anybody.

One way to frame this so Air Lines might back ATC up is that because we will have to repeat transmissions so often we will have to slow traffic down and not be able to operate a full capacity, if your Acft is delayed due to this increased communications time, don't blame the controller.

One only has to try and listen to and understand local news people to understand that wearing a mask and trying to communicate is completely impossible. Air travel doesn't need muffled directions to pilots carrying hundreds of people in planes traveling at 500 miles an hour.

Shame on the supervisors and controllers for going along with this. Shame on them. When will the collective cowards of this country fight back? I never thought I would see so many give up so much so quickly.

If you want to see the level of routine audio misunderstanding by foreign pilots that air traffic controllers have to put up with, get on the internet and listen to the audio recordings between air traffic controllers and foreign pilots who are not that conversant in the English language at large international airports such as JFKIA at New York City.

My son works at a regional control center and he told me this afternoon that the masks cause no problems in communicating with the pilots. He said that they're hearing about this at work and that, as far as he's concerned, it's a non-issue.
