The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday sided with a former Georgia college student who sued his school after it prevented him from expressing religious views in a free-speech zone on campus. The 8-1 decision, authored by Justice Clarence Thomas, said that Chike Uzuegbunam -- who was silenced by Georgia Gwinnett College officials even after he had obtained a permit to proselytize and handout religious literature -- can seek nominal damages despite the fact that the school ultimately changed course and Uzuegbunam subsequently graduated.
In a very rare alignment of votes, Chief Justice John Roberts was the lone dissenting justice in the case.

When 8 justices are all on the same page, shouldn't Roberts maybe think he might be wrong?

One has to give Chief Just-Us Roberts credit. He continues to play the 'Court has no business getting involved' excuse when it comes to ignoring the Constitution.

The way I read his dissent and his other discussions it looks to me like he doesn't want to make lasting decisions. He might be looking more to his perceived legacy. I don't know why or what he may be protecting, but he just doesn't want to stick his neck out.

John Roberts is the biggest mistake since Roger Taney. He has no place on the court.

Chief Justice Roberts appears to be taking the Hillary Clinton approach to things that happened in the past: What difference does it make? Roberts all but ignores the fact that this case was not just about the on-campus free speech rights violated in this specific case. It was about all of the future campus free- speech rights cases. He is showing the same short sightedness that he showed with the election related cases. Sure they were from an election that was already decided. However, the alleged constitutional violations that occurred did, and will continue to have an effect on all future elections, and should have been addressed to prevent future confusion and possible unconstitutional actions.

Roberts' opinion sounds like one that is just scratching around to find a reason to dissent. The decision makes clear that muzzling religious students is a violation of the 1st amendment.

I actually read the article, and I can understand Roberts’ point of view, which isn’t liberal at all: “Roberts argued that the courts had no place getting involved in the dispute because it was no longer an issue. Uzuegbunam and a fellow evangelical Christian student suing the school, Roberts wrote, ‘are no longer students at the college. The challenged restrictions no longer exist. And the petitioners have not alleged actual damages. The case is therefore moot because a federal court cannot grant Uzuegbunam and Bradford any effectual relief whatever.'"

"Roberts argued that the courts had no place getting involved in the dispute because it was no longer an issue."
Roberts had to decide this way because he will always want to avoid deciding future election fraud cases based on the same argument. And remember that, as Chief Justice, Roberts has the authority to assign to himself the writing of any decision in which he wants to artfully dodge the voting fraud issue. And that's to satisfy those who are aware of, and have threatened to release news concerning his sexual preferences and proclivities. Epstein helped him years ago to adopt his two children from Wales.

I wonder if there is any truth to that "illegally adopted kids" extortion story. Not saying there is, not saying there isn't.

I have to wonder how many communists are teaching in the political science department in these colleges that designate "free speech zones".
In the United States of America, 100% of the campus should be, by the Constitution, a free speech zone.

This SCOTUS decision with an 8-1 decision, with Roberts the only one in dissent, sounds like the CHIEF JUSTICE is proving to the Deep State that he hates free speech. He is signaling the future direction of the court.
Or did this happen because he couldn't figure out a way to say, "This is a tax?"

Don't get me wrong but the Supreme court needs to do something on the voter fraud. I agree with the religious out come but how about voter fraud. Is Linwood correct about the Roberts dirty background. If it is true, then this Justice Roberts needs to be impeached and removed immediately.
