“Get woke, go broke”, is a conservative meme about the cost of political correctness that has it the wrong way around. Brands don’t go broke because they get woke, they go woke because they’re going broke, and don’t know how to stop the slow but steady collapse of their business.
The big brands that go woke infuriate conservatives because, like Coke, Gillette, or Nike, they have a storied name that seems entwined with America and the success of capitalism. But it’s those old, familiar brands that go woke because their products and business models are dated. Virtue signaling is their way of adapting to a changing market without really innovating.
Interesting article indeed, though perhaps a bit too long.

Nobody NEEDS Coke. Drink water. Be richer and thinner and healthier.

The problem with these companies going broke is who is running them. Leftists have infiltrated big business and are running these businesses into the ground. I had to laugh when bankrupt JC Penney proclaimed they would no longer sell My Pillow products; I believe the new overseers of JCP's demise thought that was a great idea to advertise. They're struggling to get rid of all the mess, er merch they have in their stores as they are going through their long closing period like the drawn out closings of Kmart and Sears.

Greenfield makes sense. I've enjoyed Coke and Diet Coke for many decades...I'll have to find another vice! I've given up on: NBA, NFL, MLB, Nike, canceled Amazon Prime, now it's Coca Cola. Damn the souls of these socialist b*st*rds!

Coke might try putting cocaine back into their product.....though at this point I doubt if even that will save them. Seems to me that most large companies are run (into the ground) today by people who really don’t know what they are doing. Or as China Joe would say “Where am I”.

When I was a kid I drank RC Cola. The reason was I could buy a 12 oz. RC for a nickel but an 8 oz. Coke was a dime. Don't drink either now.

Great article! Really good insights. Someone out there wants to get rid of western or American culture and they seem to be doing a good job of it - even the products we buy.

Re#2: "Nobody NEEDS Coke." True. Nobody NEEDS a nice steak and a glass of Bordeaux. Nobody NEEDS a slice of hot apple pie or a cold beer while watching a sporting event. In my opinion, that is the real difference between a freedom-loving normal human and a leftist would-be tyrant.
The normal human will look at a product that is supposedly unhealthy and say, "I don't like that, so I won't drink it." The leftist will look at the same product and say, "I don't like that, so YOU won't drink it!"
Normals mind their own damn business. Tyrants mind everyone else's.

Cola is cola. I cant tell the difference between any of them. I can buy an off brand for half the price of coke, and I dont have to pay them for their diversity garbage. Remember Coke and McDonalds in the early 70's? ALL of their advertising was aimed at inner city ghetto types. It turned me off so much I didnt buy either of their products for decades and still avoid it most of the time.

Bottom line, it's Whitey's fault. Who would have guessed? We are also responsible for the decline in movie theaters and pro sports. I'm beginning to like these outcomes.

Seems to me that the phrase works both ways. Get woke, go broke and go broke, get woke. Neither one saves the company.
As Forrest Gump said, “Stupid is as stupid does”.

I'd like to take complete responsibility for the problem at Coca-Cola, but it probably wasn't my fault entirely. From about 1950 until about 1982, I drank only Coke products. Then i discovered that a certain cola product sold only at one certain store tasted better and cost only half as much so that was my ''drug of choice.'' Still is. As I began to be a conservative, I still saw no need to buy a product for any other reasons that taste and cost. I have participated in only two ''buycotts.'' (I almost quit Coke when I learned how thick they were with the Nazis during WWII, but we won!)

I never had a problem boycotting products or services because I basically don't use them. I don't eat in fast food joints, I seldom eat in restaurants that serve over priced food that I can make better at home. Soft drinks and sweet treats I haven't eaten since the 1950s the last coke I sipped had rum in it but to become woke by insulting a race to promote another race is sheer suicide and stupidity. No problem coke but less white is going to be a problem for me so I won't buy their product just to remind myself of being too white.

Coke is in trouble because there is much more beverage competition than there was 30 years ago. Also tastes change... I have nothing against Coke, I just prefer bottled water at age 66. When I was a kid, I drank Coke every chance I got.

I can't be less white.
But I can drink less Coke. In fact, no Coke.

My husband loves Coke. But we haven't bought a bottle in a couple of weeks, and don't plan to buy one any time in the foreseeable future either.
Fortunately, he also love Dr. Pepper, and they don't hate us for being white. So Dr. Pepper it is at our house!!!

Thing is, to be really successful, boycotts need to hit every aspect of the food and beverage industry that both Coke and Pepsi are involved with. Just don't be too shocked at how many food products we all buy that are owned by the umbrellas of Coke and Pepsico. Many many food products in the mainstream of this nation's food supply are owned by both companies.

#20 - You're right. They have over 100 brands and I was surprised to see so many different products are from Coke. Here's a link to their site to see exactly what they sell for a true boycott:

I had my first Coke at age 12 in 1956. I mowed the lawn was paid with one morgan siver dollar and she offered me a coke. Their slogan then was "the pause that refreshes". I truly thought it was refreshing. Todays coke tastes nothing as the coke of the 50's. Mexican made coke tastes close to the 50's version. Make it's because the Mexican coke is made with SUGAR and comes in a glass bottle! Try it if you like an occasional coke.
