A man purporting to be a U.S. history teacher noted in a now-deleted TikTok video several of his Gen Z didn’t know who Adolph Hitler was and believed that disabilities advocate Helen Keller was a “Nazi.”In addition, one student believed that “D-Day,” — the June 6, 1944, Allied invasion of Europe during World War II — was a rap artist. At the start of the video, the teacher asked his middle-school students if they knew of Keller (above, in 1905), who lost her sight and hearing after suffering an illness at the age of 19 months.“Helen Keller is the Nazi guy,” said one. “He’s like a terrorist.” (Tweet/Video)

This is breathtakingly pathetic. This is why the Teacher's Union should be broken up and outlawed. They always cry that they need more money to deal with student's lack of understanding....well NEWSFLASH: You Union members are the cause of their stupidity!!! Break up the union, make union membership for public servants illegal, dissolve the Dept. of (Mis)Education and start getting back to basics, starting with corporal punishment in grade school!

An ignorant populace is easier to control. I work in a middle school where the Holocaust is taught in the 8th grade. We have quite a selection of fiction and non-fiction books covering WW2 and the Holocaust to supplement their classroom instruction. And Helen Keller? Seriously. Our students know who she was and we also have ample materials on her life experiences. What is going on in these schools? How can you teach history if you ignore the major events that shaped the world? Ignorance is not bliss unless you are a member of the elite governing class.

We now have at least one, maybe two generations that have decoupled themselves from reality ........ this will end badly.

My theory is still that the schools will open when they have finished publishing new textbooks that have been purged our history and literature and math and science. Dumbed down students grow up to be dumb adults and can be controlled.

Okay, the parents of these children are failures. You cannot depend upon the state to educate your child today. You must be proactive and instill history and values you deem important. Give them the skills to confront the lies they hear. Give them the confidence in their knowledge that they know the facts. Parents are ultimately responsible for their children’s education. Teach them at home and you will do more for your child than you will ever know. Give them a foundation so when they are confronted with lies, obfuscation and omissions that they can defend the truth. Send them out prepared.

I'm not stunned at all. From observations of today's youth to reports of gorilla glue mis-use the evidence is everywhere. Public education has succeeded in cranking out ignorant voting bases across the country.

Admittedly, Helen Keller jokes were in poor taste, but grade school playgrounds were great sources of education and knowledge.
I presume the teachers lounge was equally dumbfounded about the lack of knowledge of the origins and evils of communism?

We have a generation coming up who will eat Tide pods. Who will send nude pictures of themselves at 13 years old. Who think Tik Tok is great! That is what is happening too our young. But remember; the ones before this group are the ones who got high by sniffing spray paint cans; huffing, I believe they called it. So I'm not too surprised.

I’m not remotely surprised. If you’ve ever watched Jesse Waters do man-on-the-street interviews with millennials you know that this ignorance has been around for decades.
I was going to say that the only thing that surprised me was the student who thought someone named Helen was a guy. But in this age of trans-whateverism, it’s not surprising at all.

All living generations have contributed to this. The so called greatest generation was so resolved to provide a better life for the boomers we boomers grew up as the "me" generation with more than our fair share of spoiled brats. We boomers wrapped our precious bundles of joy in body amour before allowing them to mount their big wheels, then hovered over them, gave them trophies for sucking at soccer and baseball. Now our children ask our grandchildren to do the meal planning and break off every adult conversation to drop to their knees to hear what pearls of wisdom the three year old is about to share.
We broke the cultural appreciation for the adults allowing the children to believe that they are not only our equals regarding knowledge, but our superiors and that their generation is charged with saving the planet from we stupid evil unenlightened adults.
They need not be the slightest curious what the founders were up to since slavery survived the revolution. They couldn't give a rip what that Voltaire guy, Locke, Payne etc. were up to.

Why should a teacher be stunned? Guidance from government school officials and teachers themselves have conspired to cause this gap in the last generation. When Leftist brownshirts come for your guns you must be expected to hand them over and give the Nazi salute with a hearty "Heil Biden!". Fortunately this generation remembers and they will have to wait until we are all gone before they gain control of the useful idiots they have created.

Helen Keller not the angel we remember. In 2015, Time wrote an article recalling her socialist and communist inspired activities.

Where are the parents? Get your child out of government schools and arrange for some immediate remedial education. Get some history books from the library and insistent they read or read to or with them. Do not put it off.

Interesting info, #20.
I love the one quote in that article:
“spoiled, sturdy little animal,” wrote TIME, “hopelessly limited, and given to wild tantrums when cross.”
Wow, she was WAY ahead of her time. She'd be right at home in the inner city black neighborhoods today. They could somewhat sort out Helen Keller, but not today's black children. Sad.

ANY parent who doesn't follow what their children are learning in school is dumber than they are. It is the parent s responsibility to make sure their kids are learning the truth.

I miss Jay Leno and Jay Walking. If they had asked about an actor or rapper, they would be all over it. It's not just kids who are so stupid. Every time I leave home I am amazed at what I hear and see.
