The Washington Post published a piece today which clearly intends to be a hit piece on Elon Musk and Tesla. The headline gives a sense of the piece’s take: “Elon Musk moved to Texas and embraced celebrity. Can Tesla run on Autopilot?” But in the very first paragraph, the story undercuts the claim that Tesla is running on autopilot. The chief executive of both electric car manufacturer Tesla and rocket company SpaceX bounces nearly daily on his private jet between locations — traveling to his longtime home in southern California, Tesla’s plant in the Bay Area, the site of a new factory in Austin, Texas and SpaceX’s

Tiger Woods has been hospitalized for "multiple leg injuries" after being involved in a serious car accident on Tuesday morning near Ranchos Palos Verdes, California. Woods had to be removed from his vehicle with the jaws of life as it sustained "major damage" following a single-vehicle rollover traffic collision, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Woods, the only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center by ambulance to be treated for "moderate to critical" injuries suffered in the crash, the Los Angeles County Fire Department told CNN. The crash, which occured shortly after 7 a.m. PT, is under investigation by the LASD.

There may only be one thing left to do with Neera Tanden’s nomination to head the Office of Management and Budget — go through its pockets and look for loose change. The White House has become desperate to find at least one Republican vote to make up for the loss of Joe Manchin in Tanden’s Senate confirmation. Their best bets, Susan Collins and Mitt Romney, declared Tanden too partisan and her patterns of attacks on members of Congress too toxic for this key position. Joe Biden’s second-best bets were among the Retiring Caucus.

Governor Greg Abbott requested statewide designation for major disaster relief from President Biden. Biden denied the statewide designation and only approved some counties in Texas, not all of them. Abbott asked for a declaration that covered the entire state because the winter storm knocked out power and heat throughout the state, as well as leaving millions of Texans without water. Texas has 254 counties. Biden approved only 77 counties for disaster relief. The governor calls it an important first step but it falls far short of what Texas officials requested. Biden signed the declaration late Friday. It covers much of the Texas population.

They’re never going to let you go.
The Biden administration is still coasting on the vaccine rollout developed by the Trump administration but according to Joe Biden’s Press Secretary Jen Psaki, we’re still in for “months and months” of suffering and sacrifice. “We need to remain vigilant…It’s still going to be months and months of sacrifice, of work, of suffering, unfortunately, in order to get through the pandemic,” Psaki said during Monday’s press briefing. As of this writing, the vaccination rate in America is 1.7 million a day, making it the world leader. This rate alone does not indicate “months and months”

There are results in from a new poll and it’s not good for Democrats.
The NBC poll confirms something that anecdotally we’ve all been seeing over the past four years. That a significant number of blue-collar workers no longer believe that the Democratic Party is for them and they’re fleeing to the Republican Party.
According to the poll, the number of blue-collar workers who call themselves Republicans has gone up by 12 percent in the last decade. Meanwhile, blue-collar workers who identify as Democrats have dropped by eight points. The number of black and Hispanic blue-collar workers who identify as Republican has also gone up,

A friend who is a superb doctor sent along this communication from Fairview/University of Minnesota Health Services: Got that? Vaccination changes nothing! Wear masks, wash your hands frequently, socially distance and–above all–stay home! “Until it’s gone,” which is never. My friend comments:
From an experienced medical facility, I expect better. It will never be gone, we will have it like every other coronavirus, like every other flu. Unlike smallpox, it is impossible to eradicate.
Thus, we are reaching the endemic COVID phase soon, the post-pandemic period. So I am guessing they want us socially distanced forever?

Those who read Power Line faithfully know that Andrew Cuomo may be in legal jeopardy. The Justice Department reportedly is investigating him and some members of his staff for their conduct in response to a DOJ request for information about nursing home deaths in New York.
John Daukas was principal deputy to the DOJ’s assistant attorney general for civil rights at the time the Department requested information from Cuomo. Later, he became the acting assistant attorney general for civil rights.
In this Wall Street Journal op-ed, Daukas explains why Cuomo should be worried about the federal probe. Daukas pulls the facts together in a way that is helpful

It’s been more than a month since the app stores of Google and Apple joined forces with Amazon Web Services to knee-cap an upstart competitor, Parler. The stated reasoning was Parler’s lack of content moderation policies, which Apple, in particular, claimed led to Parler’s use as a forum to “plan, coordinate, and facilitate the illegal activities in Washington DC on January 6, 2021.”
This reasoning was confidently repeated across the corporate press. “The Capitol mob began organizing . . . on platforms like Parler and Gab,” Vox asserted. Planning for the “mob violence that descended on the U.S. Capitol . . . took place openly

After blocking links to all news content in Australia, Facebook has reportedly “friended” the country again by coming back to the negotiating table, at least according to Prime Minister Scott Morrison. That doesn’t mean that Mark Zuckerberg has dropped his objections to Austrailia’s pending legislation that would force the social media giant to pay for links to Australian news content, however. Neither side seems to be backing down at this point. Australia may not be in this battle alone, though. We’re learning this weekend that Canada is drafting a similar measure and basically daring Facebook to impose a blackout

It appears that some Republicans like Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) are hoping that they can distance themselves from President Donald Trump and/or that he’ll ride off quietly into the sunset. But what they’re missing in all this is why people support Trump to begin with. Because here was someone finally responding frankly to them who did in fact, govern by putting America and Americans first. He didn’t govern like someone trying to preserve his own power, otherwise he would have made all kinds of concessions in the face of the constant blistering attack on him throughout his presidency. He governed

You probably remember all the fawning news and magazine coverage during Melania Trump’s four graceful years in the White House. The oohs and aahs about a stylish first lady who speaks five languages, an immigrant from Slovenia who crafted a successful career as a super model, how supportive yet carefully candid she is about her controversial husband, how protective she is of her only son. Her investment in and clear fondness for children, especially sick ones both at home and abroad. And her campaign to combat childhood bullying. You remember a good deal of that sympathetic coverage, don’t you?
No, you don’t.
