Every member of a school board in Northern California resigned on Friday after a video revealed they mocked parents during a virtual public meeting about reopening schools amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Lisa Brizendine, president of the Oakley Union Elementary School District, resigned with members Kim Beede, Erica Ippolito and Richie Masadas, Fox News reported.Schools Superintendent Greg Hetrick described the comments as 'truly inappropriate' and issued an apology on Thursday.

How do we let people like this get charge of our schools?

Most school boards are wholly owned by the teachers’ unions.

Projection. It's the board members who smoke pot.

I’m not too sure that superintendant ought not resign also. He in the beginning was sympathetic to whatever the Kim woman had said and offered a phone message service that would cut people’s statements off at 3 minutes, and installing it without anybody knowing lol. So - he didn’t go whole hog hostile like the others but I wouldn’t trust his intentions and his decision-making

I am SO GLAD to see this - NOW is the time for the parents to step up & get on the school board! You can ensure this does not happen again & you have a wonderful opportunity to see what they're force-feeding your kids.
To #1 - these people get elected because of misplaced trust & non-involvement on almost everyone's part.

Remember that the people in that School District are the people who elected those clowns as their Board of Education to run their School District and that no doubt there is a grain of salt in everything that those clowns said. In other words they got the school board that they voted in office.

Nice bit of projection by the school board there. Sitting home on their duffs smoking pot while collecting paychecks is no way to go through life teachers. Get back to work.
If Trump's rotten Education secretary had figured out a way to abolish tenure in the schools nationwide, she would have done more to free the parental Krakens in every district in the country. Tenure prevents parents from cleaning out the rot in their districts, all while the teachers mock and laugh in the faces of those who pay the taxes. Unions/tenure are the poison that is rotting our education system.

Schools systems everywhere answer to no one. They are a government agency all to themselves. It's why they have such screw you attitudes. Not even the parents have any say or control over what's taught or how things are run. Those in charge use the excuse that those that did not major in education and have any experience in teaching, or have advance degrees in education know nothing about education. Therefore the opinions of those not in education mean nothing. That attitude is apparent and front and center on every school board member and almost every teacher and administrator. It's why the education in this country is so poor, and why they have programs such as BLM crap, that parents would never allowed to be presented to their kids, are discovered only after they've been in place sometimes for years. Then the parents create such a stink, that's it's brought up for discussion during school board meetings. It's not eliminated, or stopped, it's brought up for discussion. Schools have become little prisons. Try getting into one to pick up your child these days. Fort Knox security isn't that good.

The real reason parents in Anywhere USA want schools reopened is for the "free" state-run daycare. Don't kid yourselves.

DM UK headlines are getting so long they can't even edit that much and get it right. Then you get into the article.
School boards are packed with liberal loons everywhere and it's a closed system. Just try being conservative and running for one of the positions. The teachers union, the teachers and the administration all oppose conservative principles because they can all suck the money out of the local populace and the government and run wild with it. Having direct taxing power is dangerous at this level. Efficiency and common sense are not welcome. That's why our schools are in such a state of FAILURE.

An unimpressive-looking group from one of the nondescript East Bay towns. In response to #1, usually because they want to do it and no one else does. School board members are a notoriously bossy "my way or the highway" bunch.

I found this quote interesting: "The comments made were not in alignment with our Vision and are definitely not what any of us stand for as leaders."
'alignment with our Vision' ? Maybe some pot smoking going on.

We have a real education problem in this country. The beauracracy, the union, most teachers, and sometimes the parents all created this problem. My largest living expense is my education taxes. I dont see much but problems for the money they take.

How do I subscribe to UK and Australian media? They are the ONLY media that we get honest, regular reporting of what is really happening in this country. Pretty damning commentary on our "state media" and leftist schools of journalism.

Have the tables turned just a little, and rats are now being held accountable? I don't believe this article. Who made them resign?
If schools did a better job of educating children, none of US would have such bad opinions and low expectations of them. Parents may consider them daycare, but they don't do much to prove parents wrong, plus they want to raise children through indoctrination. They are what they are, and they are what parents allow them to be. Both are at fault. Parents of government educated children, get yourselves together and UNITE!

I taught school in northern CA for 20 years in a Catholic school. I had several opportunities to work in public schools and I turned them down as I didn’t want to join a union. I saw how some staff members behaved and I said “no thank you” and never looked back.

how did such incompetents ever get elected in the first place?! the citizens of this town should ask themselves that question to prepare their town for the next election of people to this board or any other town offices

Good riddance and more should go. We need our tax dollars going to full time in-person schools. With teachers that refuse to use common core and use common sense. Give our children a future filled with love and truth, not hatred and racism.

The research and evidence proves that keeping kids away for the interaction with a teacher in a REAL classroom is the best what for students to learn.
Playing along with this online only environment hurts those who do not use technology well, and many students just blow it off-- there is no reliable way to monitor the progress and to measure acheivement.
This is a great "dumbing down" that will make the "young skulls full of musch" more agreeable to having their rights and freedoms taken away-- parents should not tolerate it.
The smoking pot part of the story is the media trying to make it okay to drop out and do drugs all the time.
