Rush Limbaugh, whose wife Kathryn confirmed on Wednesday that he died at 70 after a yearlong and very public battle against lung cancer, was a college dropout when he began his combustible radio career, repeatedly losing gigs as a deejay and news-talk host; he spent much of 1974 jobless and living in his parents’ basement in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Almost five decades later, Limbaugh kept a fleet of black luxury sedans in his garage, including a $450,000 Maybach 57S, traveled on his private Gulfstream 550 jet, and owned a fabulous oceanfront Palm Beach estate befitting America’s biggest and most politically influential AM radio star—and surely among the richest

Rush will be missed, but hopefully someone with equal passion for the country will step in to continue the movement.

I feel like I lost a dear friend. He was that to all of us.
This morning I had this funny feeling and went to the radio station where his show is broadcasted as his wife Katherine was making the announcement. Even though we knew it was imminent, it was heartbreakingly sad to hear.
Rush we love you and you will always be our warm fuss ball. Rest in peace. You will remain forever in our hearts.

Normally, when a "celebrity" passes away I am fairly passive as it does not really have an effect on my life. For the first time, I can truly say, I am saddened by the passing of Rush. He has had a great influence on mine and the lives of millions of others. There will be a big void in many peoples lives for 3 hours per day that will be hard to fill.

He jabbed the left with wit and truth. That had never happened to them before and they didn't know what to do with it. And they hated him for it.
But just like Trump, we loved him for fearlessly puncturing the pomposity of the elite, and standing up for freedom for all of us. And worst of all, he truly loved this country.
Lord, how we will miss this man!

I don't understand how this illness works. My brother who is Rush's age, was diagnosed with lung cancer 5 years ago. A year later it spread to his brain. He had surgery and chemo. Last month his doctors told him he was their 'miracle patient', no sign of cancer. My brother spent almost all of his adult life as a drug addict and alcoholic. He was a bum for 30 years. It was only in the past 15 years or so he got clean. So why does he beat this but not Rush? Oh, BTW..all my brother's treatment was at a VA hospital in Seattle.
Prayers to Rush's family.

I suspected that this was why we hadn’t heard from him in a couple of weeks. That, and the fact that he gave such a sweeping thank you to President Trump. It sound like a final tribute he needed to give. It’s funny but I had just tuned into the show and heard his voice. I was so excited that what I had feared hadn’t come true. And, at the break, the national news was delighted to deliver the story. I am sick with sadness and despair for righteous men and women everywhere. And, I am so sad that Rush lived to see the end of his country, after all his work to stop that. Thank you, Rush, for that feeling I got every time I heard your theme music and your voice right after. You were the one shining light in a world of political darkness. RIP. God give us strength.

So sad that we lost such a wonderful man. He was a true Patriot and a true Conservative. His voice, for 3 hours every weekday, calmed what was often a political storm in our country. He was fair, funny and generous. I'm sure he is setting up his Microphone right now in Heaven so that he can speak to all the Angels who I'm sure have been his Listeners. If his voice there can change any minds in that Other Place (Hell), who knows, some might just manage to work their way up where the Conservatives are hanging out! Bless You, Rush, we are going to miss you forever!

Lloyd Grove has been, for long years, a left wing reporter who wrote to a great extent on trivia from the left’s perspective. I don’t call that headline “respectful”.
Rush Limbaugh will be missed. Lloyd Grove, never having done much that was worthwhile, is already unknown to most.

Let the hit pieces and snarkiness began. The msm have wondered if they would be able to keep up their joe-kam diversion cover-up for 4 years by badmouthing - aka, blaming - Trump but now by adding Rush to their plan they'll attempt to maintain the charade.
Prayers for Rush, his dear wife, dittoheads, and for the USA, and prayers that God deals with the lefties and unbelievers in His way and our beloved country survives.

Does OP really believe that this is an appropriate part of his obituary?
In 1952, just two years before the U.S. Supreme Court outlawed separate public schools for white and black students in the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education decision, the city built its white students a brand new school, Central High, while Black students continued to attend the aging Cobb High School.
As Limbaugh biographer Ze’ev Chafets wrote, “Cape Girardeau took its high school basketball very seriously and sometimes contended for the state title. The 1953 team was expected to be a powerhouse, but word got around that the kids from Cobb were even better. ‘An informal game was arranged between Central and Cobb High,’ says historian Frank Nickell. ‘Cobb won. Shortly thereafter, Cobb mysteriously burned down.’”
This is a lefty hit job, pal...

I went looking for respectful and thorough. I came up empty. It is full of ugly stuff on Obama’s opinion, and stuff like this. Grove’s agenda is showing as is the Beast’s:
“You cannot overstate the influence of Rush Limbaugh in what has happened to American conservatism,” said Charlie Sykes, a former Milwaukee talk radio host who is editor at large for The Bulwark, a Never-Trump conservative news and opinion site. “You can track the trajectory of the rise and the derangement of the conservative movement by tracking Limbaugh. And what really was extraordinary is that the early Rush Limbaugh popularized relatively arcane conservative ideas and he practically created the entire genre of alternative conservative media.
“But, fast-forward, he explicitly acknowledged ultimately that conservatism had lost, and he was no longer running what he liked to call ‘the university of conservative thought,’” Sykes continued. “And he was now just focusing on being anti-left wing. That also tracked with the transformation of a Republican party that became more strident, more relentlessly negative, more demagogic. There was a time when Rush had the possibility of being a thought leader on the right—and he basically squandered it.”

A man, beloved by millions, just died and all the person who wrote this strange, rambling excuse of an article can do is insert himself in the story by making it evident in every paragraph that he, Lloyd Groves, despised Rush Limbaugh. Mr. Groves, Rush Limbaugh was several times over the courageous intelligent man you will never be and you know it which is really why you disliked him.

Rush didn’t hijack the GOP. He simply articulated perfectly what so many of us believed. And by the way, Lloyd, Joe Biden did have hair plugs. There are lots of pictures of him shortly after the surgery. Do a little research. You are old enough to have seen the pics. Lord, I am going to miss Rush so much, but know he’s now sitting on the right side of God. Thank you Rush and Godspeed.

So many wonderful, wonderful tributes here to our beloved "talent on loan from God", a truly humble man who loved America and its people. He really did recognize that he had a God-given talent. He was filled with gratitude. He represented hope; his enemies only saw despair and the worst of this nation.
I was out shopping this morning and turned on the show, where I heard Rush's voice, but didn't know what had happened; I was hearing a commercial. I thought, every day I hear Rush's voice is a good day. Thank you, Lord. Then my sister sent me a text saying Rush had died. I'm heartbroken, crushed, as is everyone here. I'm sure most of us cannot imagine a day without Rush, but in the last couple of weeks when he was not on the show, I was worried.
I first heard Rush in the early 90's, on Saturday, AM radio. I had to work during the week, so I didn't get to listen to his show on weekdays unless it was a holiday.
There is so much I could say. We here at Lucianne will miss him terribly. There has never been another radio show host like our Rush. I am so grateful for him. I pray for his beloved Katherine and his family. Radio will never be the same.
