Now that the impeachment trial is over, that’s the last excuse for having the National Guard still in Washington, D.C., right? So now they can all go home, one would think.
Not so fast with that logical thinking there.
Now there’s more talk and you’re not going to believe it, that they might stay until the fall. Wait, what?
Major Matt Murphy said the current plan is to have the 6,000 who are presently on hand stay until March. But apparently they are in talks about being there longer.
According to the DCist, Robert Salesses, assistant Secretary for Homeland Defense wrote in an email about an “extended timeline”

They are there to prevent real patriot Trump supporters from showing up. A big show of fear not force. Troops deployed to enforce the theft of the election. Having protests and Trump banners in their face would do serious damage to their egos. That’s the last thing they want.

Why are they still there if they were there for Jan 6th ? Remember back when President Trump offered the NG for states being destroyed and Dems wanted no part of saving their cities ? Me too. Now they want taxpayers to pay for rebuilding.

I would guess we can gauge their level of fear, as noted by #1, by the number and length of stay of the Guardsmen. The optics of armed troops surrounding the Capitol are really bad and that cannot be lost on the local Swamp denizens; therefore I think its safe to say that as bad as the optics are, they are better than the truth becoming known. They know and we know, and they know we know, that they have no legitimacy and their office holding is based on fraud, the moral equivalent to a building's foundation being anchored in packed sand. Sooner or later the ground water begins to seep in and one good rain storm washes it all away.
I think an analogy can be made that President Trump's silence is the ground water. Quietly the fraud built foundation of their supposed power is slowly ebbing away and they're hoping the new voter-owners don't notice. The Guard in this analogy would represent trying to shore up the foundation by pumping cement into the ground. What will be the rainstorm?
Todd Herman filled in for Rush last week and he repeatedly reminded us that God made each of us especially for this time. We each have a role, a mission, wherever our little corner of the earth happens to be. Our founders were rooted in prayer and open to God working in the world, and we are called to do the same. During WWII regular citizens of Europe responded with small acts of defiance where-ever they could. Resistance can take many subtle forms. There is no animal on earth more cunning and creative than the human. It could be informative to watch more closely the old early 40's Nazi spy movies. Most important of all is to be rooted in your faith tradition, and remember this life is just our apprenticeship for Eternal Life.
God speed, my fellow Americans.

The National Guard is becoming Congress's Palace Guard. The Capitol is the new Bastille. Just wait until China Joe deputizes the Blue Hats from the UN to do his dirty work of confiscating the firearms of the American people. DC is the new Panem.

It is very simple. They stole an election and they know the country knows. They are are terrified they will come calling. Take a look at Pelosi . She looks terrified and so does the pedo.

Thanks, #6, you beat me to it.
Nothing speaks to the people's love for the Fuhrer like a barbed wire fence and National Guard troops without ammunition.
Sieg Heil.
Better sign some more executive orders, FOTUS.

It’s simple. Fear is keeping the NG there. The guard is also being used to further the Democrats’ claim that conservatives are domestic terrorists and they need protection. Actually, Democrats should be thankful that conservatives respect law and order and the rule of law or they would make the actions of BLM and Antifa look like a May Day parade.
I like #3’s suggestion. Find a way to resist this illegitimate government in whatever way you can. Peacefully, of course. A death of a thousand cuts can sometimes prove to be very effective. We are, after all, freedom loving Americans. It is not in our nature to roll over. Mockingjay.

A. Will the NG only be removed when all federal buildings have 12 foot fences topped with razor wire around them? The soldiers’ presence appears to be designed to hide the erection of anti-citizen barricades to supplement the now permanent anti-car bomb barriers in front of most federal buildings.
B. The Guard are 3/4th civilians, and most were performing civilian jobs at home. Doesn’t anyone care about the impact on employers?
C. The Guard also serves in state disaster relief, so who covers in the event of floods, storms and BLM riots?
D. Finally, why are Democrats suddenly enthralled with the military? Do they realize that their socialist policies will lower our standard of living and are fearful of our reaction?

What better way is there to tarnish what’s left of our military than keeping them armed and behind barbed wire barricades for all to see. China Joes next move will be to billet them in private homes - didn’t work out well the last time our masters tried this.

The key in the article is that the Guard is saying it's becoming unsustainable. NG is a two edged sword when it comes to deployments outside their home state. The longer they are deployed, the more will not re-enlist especially for questionable missions like this one. Eventually, the states contributing troops to this farce will no longer have viable units for missions at home.
Another thing is that if Nasty wants machine guns she could have had them immediately from the 3d Infantry (the Old Guard) at Ft. Myer. The unit has a tactical mission in addition to its ceremonial duties. If there were any legal restrictions, I'm sure Gen. Milley - you know, the DoD constitutional expert - would have informed the congress critters right away, right?

I agree they are being installed as a Praetorian---make that Pretextian---Guard. To answer 11's D: Rush told a story about Klintoons first inauguration. One of the demlibs was mocking the Air Force flyover. A second demlib, Ron Silver IIRC, said: Those are OUR jets now! These are THEIR troops now.

they have heard the rumors of a military intervention and with everyone staying so quiet they are already preparing for the military to come in and oust them, which would be justified. they think with the National Guard troops there the military will not take such drastic action. they are finding goblins everywhere, especially in their own heads. it's like a Macbeth scenario, excellently played by the forces for good.

Call your governors and remind them that they have authority over their state's National Guard. Demand that they recall their NG like Abbott and DeSantis did. This is another example of the federal government usurping state's rights...and it will only get worse if governors, attorneys general, sheriffs, and other state and local officials don't stand up to them.

I'm with #18. Unless the Guard has been federalized, they are under the authority of the State's governor. Correct me if I'm wrong. Even the oath of enlistment is slightly different and recognizes this. The governor can bring his guard home, unless he thinks politics are more important than his citizens' lives.

Many if not all states run by Republican governors have called their NG units home; it's the states with leftist governors who are sending in theirs. The same NGs don't have to be there for the entire time; I'm sure they can rotate.

Alternative thought: DC is a crime warren. Is the presence of the Guard deterring that? Any figures on assaults, murders, etc? Maybe we should consider having the Guard on duty in Chicago, San Fran, and, Hey, Portland and Seattle?

The National Guard will remain in DC. They are there to protect an illegitimate president. I think it has turned into the blue states national guard, as the red states national guard are being called back home. The red state governors were fools for ever having sent them to DC.

They're very self important people who care nothing for America. They look like fools. Unlike Antifa and their ilk, Trump supporters actually have jobs they go to - they don't have time to burn down cities. Wonder how Portland, Seattle and the other cities burned and looted by Antifa feel about wimpy congress's act? Again, they look like fools.

Maybe the 535 House members and 100 Senators should live within the wall/fence they've erected to surround them.
Didn't Pelosi and the Democrats admit walls/fencing work, but also need the support of armed guards?

Every member of the National Guard and their commanders need to remember the Oath they took. This President and his enablers are traitors who only exist in this current farce because the Supreme Court failed to do it's duty to air the corruption by several states. Will each of these troops obey orders from criminals or defend the Constitution and turn their weapons from the street to the Capital? IF the evidence never comes out from lower court cases, they might plead ignorance, but there is a lot of evidence and at least a few people willing to not let it be hidden.

Inittally Governors cooperated send NG units to DC because quite frankly, the state only funds a part of the units. The rest comes from the feds (us taxpayers) because many of the units have active unit round out relationships. If fed funds are pulled many of these units would go into mothballs so to speak because the budgets of the states couldn't take up the slack. Then there is this:
"In 2006, Congress passed the 2007 National Defense Authorization Act, which gave the president the authority to mobilize National Guard units within the U.S. without the consent of state governors."
I don't remember Trump doing this, so who did? In light of the NDA it's actually pretty courageous for the Red State Govs to bring the units back home. I strongly suspect there were no official mob orders since the Chief of the Guard bureau was "asking" units to stay rather than ordering. All in all it's a bloody legal and political mess just to please Nasty and her fascists.
