The Supreme Court lifted California's ban on indoor church services during the pandemic Friday, ruling that Gov. Gavin Newsom's strict orders violate the Constitution's protection for the free exercise of religion. The justices in a 6-3 decision granted an appeal from a south San Diego church that has repeatedly challenged the state restrictions on church services, including its ban on singing and chanting. The ruling overturned decisions by federal judges in San Diego and San Bernardino, and the 9th Circuit Court in San Francisco, which upheld the state's orders despite earlier warnings from the high court.

Hey, who woke up the Supine Court? Somebody must have given them the all clear sign that Trump is gone now so it's OK to come out from hiding.

Is it me, or is this a bizarre ruling, given the primary reason our country was founded: freedom to worship.
The Founders weep.

Kagan's explanation sums up what is wrong with our legal system. She puts the 'Law of the Experts' above the 'Law of he land'. The Law of the land declares goobernment can't infringe on certain rights. The law of the experts declares that the law can be whatever 'expert' the goobernment believes whether right or wrong.

Hmmmm. Wasn’t that “freedom of religion” thing already covered in the 1st Amendment? Oops, my bad. That one has already been Schiff-canned.

Church leadership should have defied this order on their own. How can you show people the way of Jesus when you have no courage?

On unimportant things where their hides are not on the line these 'Justices' are like lions in the defense of liberty. Where it counts they are cowardly jackals. More tests of their mettle are coming. We'll see!

Not a good enough ruling. Barrett really disappoints - what was all the hype about her anyway. Continuing to restrict singing is NOT religious freedom.

Nobody has the authority to close churches, or any business. The people are free and have choice. They are not supplicants of the state, and are not to be coerced by their government. Coercion and jackboots are the first tool of the left, because nobody would choose to do what they propose.

The left is going hard after Dr. John MacArthur who was on the frontline fighting and winning against state mandated church closings.

Churches may become a sanctuary for resistance meetings, music, celebrations , all under the umbrella of religious services. First have to find non-socialist churches. that are wise to the Great Evil. - and that may very well include black churches that have been suppressed and bullied by the CommuNazis. .

Finally a decision that protects MY constitutional right to attend church....of course I've been lucky... my priest has been holding services for many months... against the warning from the archdiocese... so my spiritual soul is in good hands...WE even had non/catholics attend our services...and each Sunday the attendance grew... of course with masks and temperature checks at the door... refreshing to see a priest buck the system as dictated by our governor blitzkrieg of Illinois....

You mean Chief Injustice Roberts didn't say that Church closings was akin to a "tax?"

Yes, they said the churches could open. However they are still letting Newscum decide capacity and how the churches are to hold their services. They only did a minuscule portion of their job and I am not impressed with Benedict Roberts at all.

And, of course, the three Anti-Constitutionalists can't figure out where this crazy 'religious freedom' idea comes from, and thinks "Of course, the government can prevent you from going to church!".

Not so fast Supremes! Are you telling Christians they can't praise God in worship singing that the bible commands? Who do you think you are? We are to obey God not man and the First Amendment gives us that freedom. Where were you in the Swine Flu in Obama reign? You didn't do any of this Marxist threats to our Churches and our country then. Oh yeah, Obama was your commie friend.

In California you cant go to church, but you can drink in a bar.
Governor Newsom is a bum.
There are one million homeless in California and Nancy does not care.
She has billions but she does not give the homeless one penny.
However, she will give millions to AOC, so that AOC can run for President In 2024.

Is it time to find our moral courage and stop harming ourselves and others? Hopefully our moral courage isn’t in the same place as the actual virus samples, the hyper repetitive test kits, and Joe Biden’s votes.

What concerns me about this is that most of the judges, including recent appointee Judge Barrett, sided with the order that singing in church be banned. For Pete's sake, if this isn't the nanny state on steroids, I don't know what is.

If I had a church to go to I would still sing anyway. I wish I knew of a good one in the Heart of DemonCon Valley.
