Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. became the 46th U.S. president on Wednesday, completing the most daunting power transfer in recent American history. Inaugurated in a fortified Washington under the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic, the 78-year-old Democrat took the oath of office at the U.S. Capitol in front of a sparse bipartisan crowd. He enters the White House exactly two weeks after a mob inflamed by his predecessor, Donald Trump, stormed the Capitol, disrupting the transition to Biden’s administration and leaving five people dead. Biden took the oath of office from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, with his left hand on a family Bible. Biden, the oldest American president, faces swirling

Biden Snipes at Reporter Questioning His

President Joe Biden has gotten into his first dustup with the media since taking office. It happened Thursday in the White House when the AP’s Zeke Miller pressed Biden about one of the signature promises of his first 100 days — the pledge that 100 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine will be administered in that time. “You set the goal at 100 million vaccines in the first 100 days — is that high enough?” Miller asked. “Shouldn’t we set the bar higher? That’s basically where the U.S. is right now.” Biden bristled at the question and sniped at Miller in response. “When I announced it

CNN is under fire for publishing an anonymously sourced "scoop" that the Biden administration will have to "build everything from scratch" because there was no Trump plan to distribute coronavirus vaccines, when reality tells a far different story. A CNN producer pushed the story from reporter MJ Lee as a "great SCOOP" on "how bad this situation is with vaccine distribution." The story quoted anonymous figures with knowledge of the administration's COVID-related work as saying there was "nothing for us to rework" and there was no plan at all: "just further affirmation of complete incompetence."

Thousands of National Guardsmen were forced to vacate congressional grounds on Thursday and are now taking their rest breaks outside and in nearby parking garages, after two weeks of sleepless nights protecting the nation’s capital in the wake of the violent assault on Jan. 6. One unit, which had been resting in the Dirksen Senate Office building, was abruptly told to vacate the facility on Thursday, according to one Guardsman. The group was forced to rest in a nearby parking garage without internet reception, with just one electrical outlet, and one bathroom with two stalls for 5,000 troops, the person said. “Yesterday dozens

Nothing says, “This was a perfectly normal election, and now it’s time to come together as a united nation,” like having your swearing-in behind 12-foot-high razor wire surrounded by 25,000 troops whose loyalty you doubt. That’s what we witnessed at President Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday: a grim testament to the fundamental insecurity and fragility of the re-ascendant liberal elite. Democrats no doubt hoped that the optics of this military-heavy presidential installation would convince ordinary Americans that the republic is in peril from the populist ferment that sent Donald Trump to the White House in 2016 and garnered more votes four years later than any GOP ticket, ever.

Phantom pain is pain that a person feels in a body part, usually a limb, that is no longer there. That’s kind of how yesterday’s Presidential Inauguration felt. The limb missing was the lack of supporters and even protestors at the event. BOTH are part of American democracy, and both were totally restricted from the Capitol Mall. The Inauguration is an American tradition, but regular Americans weren’t allowed to be a part. How wrong is that? How difficult could it have been to pull off an event that allowed people with 28,000 National Guard troops in place to keep the peace? Fireworks are great to see… in person. On television

A Democratic Party headquarters was damaged, an American flag burned, and marchers filled the streets in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday, following Biden’s inauguration. Antifa was reportedly behind the activity, known during the summer as “peaceful protests.” The New York Times reported that “federal agents in camouflage — now working under the Biden administration — blanketed streets with tear gas and unleashed volleys of welt-inducing pepper balls as they confronted a crowd that gathered outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement building near downtown.” Some in the group of about 150 people smashed windows and spray-painted anarchist symbols at the political party building. It’s an odd way to seek national unity: call a significant portion of the American public white supremacists, racists, and nativists. Welcome to the Biden presidency. Joe Biden’s inaugural speech as 46th president is predictably being hailed for its “unifying” message. And just as predictably, his invocations of the divisive bromides of the identitarian Left are being swept under the rug. According to Biden, we are a “great nation” and a “good people.” But we also oppress minorities with an ever-rising fervor. “Growing inequity” is among the greatest challenges facing the country, according to Biden, along with the “sting of systemic racism” and encroaching “white supremacy.”

National Review, after all, produced the infamous “Against Trump” issue in January 2016, assembling conservatives from many publications in an effort to derail the nomination of the man who became our 45th president. The chief complaints about Trump centered on style… and class. But graciousness in victory apparently is not an element of civility that appeals to Kevin Williamson, a talented wordsmith and star at what was once the flagship publication of the conservative movement.

President Joe Biden has asked Christopher Wray to stay on as FBI director and Wray has agreed to remain the head of the agency, a U.S. law enforcement source told Reuters.  Wray was a frequent target of former Republican President Donald Trump over his refusal to back false claims of voter fraud in the Nov. 3 election.  Biden’s decision to retain Wray as chief of the Federal Bureau of Investigation was welcomed by Adam Schiff, the Democrat who chairs the House Intelligence Committee and a critic of Trump’s handling of intelligence issues.
