Some White House advisers fear Trump's final days

President Donald Trump has turned to a fringe group of advisers peddling increasingly dubious tactics to overturn the results of the election, creating a dire situation that multiple senior officials and people close to the President say has led to new levels of uncertainty at how Trump will resist the coming end to his tenure. "No one is sure where this is heading," one official said on Monday. "He's still the President for another month." Nothing at all biased about those descriptive adjectives in the posted leading lines - "conspiracist lawyer", "disgraced former national security adviser", "hawkish trade adviser", "eccentric founder", is there? Makes me wonder how the writer could have ignored the opportunity to include "former prostitute wife".

Like #10, I noticed the nasty descriptors propagandists attached to President Trump's advisors. The "disgraced" Michael Flynn was targeted for removal because of his expertise in National Security matters. He was a threat to establishment politicians, NOT the United States. That is why the FBI pretended to drop by for a friendly visit, and why James Comey bragged they "wouldn't have gotten away with" that stunt had they followed the proper protocols. The FBI met with Flynn seeking information they would later claim he "lied" about. If he did not "admit" he "lied" they would go after his son. General Flynn is not guilty of disgraceful behavior, but there's a list of FBI insiders who actually did bring disgrace to themselves and the agency. Only one man, a young attorney, has been prosecuted. He tampered with evidence to make a document read as though Carter Page was NOT working for the CIA, when in fact he was. CNN should bring back a real investigative reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, and have her clean house. The government spied on her, too. Why isn't CNN interested in that story?

Donald Trump has granted full pardons to 15 people and commuted all or part of the sentences of five others, in a wave of pre-Christmas pardons announced by the White House on Tuesday. The beneficiaries include George Papadopoulos, a former campaign aide who pleaded guilty as part of the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election; Alex van der Zwaan, the Dutch son-in-law of the Russian billionaire German Khan; and three former Republican lawmakers. Trump’s use of the presidential pardon power has attracted considerable controversy. In November, for example, he pardoned his former national security adviser Michael Flynn

The Washington Post reports that “Democrats see grim prospects in final election results despite Biden’s win.” The main reason for Democrats’ pessimism is Joe Biden’s poor performance in precincts the Democrats think they should carry easily. The Post’s Michael Scherer writes: Voters in the once Democratic Ohio county that surrounds the shuttered Lordstown General Motors plant delivered a decisive victory last month to the sitting president who had promised and failed to save their jobs. In the heavily Hispanic South Bronx, the liberal sanctum of San Francisco and the immigrant-rich neighborhoods of Miami, President Trump also shrank Democratic margins by drawing thousands more to his side

A number of other lawmakers received shots over the weekend including Senators Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Ed Markey, Marco Rubio and Joni Ernst. Republican New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu tweeted that it was “ridiculous” that lawmakers were “cutting in line” and receiving the vaccine ahead of long-term care residents.

The House handily passed a $900 billion COVID relief bill Monday night, delivering aid to the businesses and families that have struggled through months of stalled negotiations. The 5,593-page bill passed just hours after being publicly released and will now move to the Senate before arriving on the desk of President Trump, who is expected to sign it. The legislation passed 359-53 as part of a broader $1.4 trillion spending package that included dozens of unrelated provisions, pushed off to the end of the legislative session thanks to protracted gridlock over the scope and scale of the relief bill.

With a vote expected Monday, the $900 billion package will include a direct $600 payment to most Americans and a $300-per-week bonus to unemployment insurance for eleven weeks. But what, you may ask, will the stimulus package mean for you? The direct payment will go to adults earning up to $75,000 per year. If the payments follow a similar disbursement as the first direct payment earlier this year, Americans could see checks direct deposited in their accounts as soon as two weeks after the legislation is passed.

Obviously, no amount of evidence, data, trends, facts, studies, or science will ever convince most ‘public health officials’ that masks aren’t doing squat to stop the spread of COVID-19. Cases and deaths continue to spike (yes, many of these are super-sensitive PCR test-driven numbers, but still) despite the fact that well over 90% of the country are complying with their absurd mandates. Yet, predictably, the virus keeps going right on virusing, as highly contagious respiratory viruses, unfortunately, tend to do, especially once cold weather hits. Nevertheless, those of us who are mask skeptics have a difficult chore in front of us.
