Against the backdrop of a pandemic’s blight and wounds from an acrimonious election, a group of acclaimed actors on Sunday will stage an online reading of a religious text with remarkable relevance to the current moment: the Book of Job.
Audience members may be drawn to the production by the casting of Bill Murray as Job, the righteous man tested by the loss of his health, home and children, but the real star is the format. Staged on Zoom, it's aimed at Republican-leaning Knox County, Ohio, with participation from locals including people of faith, and designed to spark meaningful conversations across spiritual and political divides.

I like Murray, but will withhold judgment, if I watch it at all.

"focus on bridging rifts opened by the election"
The election was STOLEN, there will be NO bridging of rifts until that is resolved. I guess they just want us to accept the election and move on. That is their "Bridging the rift".

This is what is called "stroking" pure and simple.

#3, I thought 'stroking' was what Jeffrey Toobin does when on Zoom.

Sounds to me like celebrities are saying: "Even though we are knowingly destroying everything good in this country, be of good cheer and get over it."

I'm skeptical. As has been mentioned, this could be an artistic use of Biblical stories to influence Believers into accepting a fraudulent election.

The cynic in me is suspicious when known Hollywood liberals start quoting the Bible and proposing to engage in "dialog" with conservatives.

1. It is a little late. This event happened yesterday afternoon at 4:00. As far as Bill Murray is concerned, I have no idea of his politics as he seems to keep quiet about it. He definitely is an odd character but, from what I have seen he is compassionate and has a good heart. Do not judge if you do not know!

Remember “Groundhog Day”? It has been rated one of the most conservative movies ever made. Starring Bill Murray.
He lives here in Charleston, SC, owns a few restaurants and is part owner of the local semi-pro baseball team, the Riverdogs. I’ve never run into him but lots of people have and everyone loves him.
But I agree with #2. There will be no bridges after this election, no matter who is sworn in.

Seems like Hollywood telling us we’re in for a lot of hurt, to be stoic and take it on the chin. Totally weird they’ve chosen Bill Murray as Job - this is goofy.

Comedians often due excellent serious work - look at Robin Williams. That said, I don't know what to make of it either. Hollywood types tend to perform Bible Stories only to deride them, these days.

Hey, Bill. Tell your Democrat Party (Tyre) that the Lord is about to destroy them. Tell them Bill!! Judgement is coming on the Democrat Party, for they have defrauded his people and stolen the fruits of their labors, and denied his word. Tell them Bill!!
Maybe... Just Maybe, they will repent.
Otherwise... JOB!... Judgement comes...

Bill Murray? I'll pass I can't stand the guy just like Chevy Chase they are both leftover duds from SNL. I already know the theme "eat your gruel Trump supports and accept the fraud". No I will not and Biden will never be 'my president'.

I would love to watch the presentation, Zoom and all. It will be interesting to see how the three ''friends'' of Job ''comfort'' him in a modern presentation. Don't confuse Murray's acting ability with his personal life. He is just a vessel.

The last time I saw Murray do something serious was in a disaster of a movie called the Razor’s Edge. He never could wipe that smart aleck grin off his mug.

This could actually be interesting. I have often wondered why Hollywood never made a movie about Job, for he was a very sturdy fellow, very strong in his faith even as others were failing to keep their's. Including his own wife. Or maybe though the story is interesting, it is too strongly flavored with Christianity for Hollywood to swallow. Bill Murray can actually play it straight when the occasion calls for him to do so.
