E-commerce platform Etsy says it is stamping out “harmful misinformation… from knitters making MAGA-themed beanies. Conservative author and activist Michelle Malkin reported that Etsy user “Deplorable Knitter” had received a permanent ban from the platform for trying to sell beanie hats bearing the “Stop the Steal” slogan, a Republican rallying cry against voter fraud. “Trump Derangement Syndrome strikes crafters AGAIN. My friend Deplorable Knitter told me her #StopTheSteal hats have been banned on Etsy,” said Malkin in a tweet.

Censorship and cancel culture is everywhere now. I keep having posts removed off Facebook. Today, I posted an article and they put a warning on it. So, I edited it saying I knew they would censor me, then I said "I would like to know what is partly false...oh, yeah...the ballots were not in suitcases. That's what was false. / sarc" They deleted my entire post. And all my old posts and comments are not there either.

However, Etsy allows lefty sellers to attack those who agree with the "Stop The Steal" movement. https://www.etsy.com/listing/904672997/anti-stop-the-steal-sticker-president?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=stop+the+steal&ref=sr_gallery-1-5&organic_search_click=1&pro=1&frs=1

I’ve ordered a couple of things on Etsy, they were just okay. Had a problem with one, getting a hold of the seller and clearing things up was difficult. Placing an order is easy, anything beyond is confusing and difficult. Including finding a way to complain about what they’ve done to this seller. So I went to the “Contact Human” website and was surprised to find Etsy was rated with one star, no email, a phone number, plus a long list of negative reviews of no refunds, packages not received, and no place to go above individual sellers. And I keep getting emails from Etsy “Christmas almost here, buy from us!” Well, after hearing of the ban, and reading about a multitude of problems, heck no. There’s many other places to go. Buyers can do their own banning.

Will never use Etsy again. There is either freedom of political expression in America, or there is no freedom at all.

Etsy was one of the first organizations to issue a pro-BLM statement. I can make my own crafts and buy supplies elsewhere. Etsy is nonessential to my life and happiness. I am not surprised that they'd censor what vendors can sell on their site.

Oh, yes - one would think the knitting community would be more open and non-political - however this is just the tip of the iceberg. Look up Dr. Karlyn Borysenko who is an organizational psychologist and an avid knitter. She has reported that the knitting online community has been practicing cancel culture for years. You can find her on You Tube and Paler etc. She has been interviewed by Glen Back among others.

Against the backdrop of a pandemic’s blight and wounds from an acrimonious election, a group of acclaimed actors on Sunday will stage an online reading of a religious text with remarkable relevance to the current moment: the Book of Job. Audience members may be drawn to the production by the casting of Bill Murray as Job, the righteous man tested by the loss of his health, home and children, but the real star is the format. Staged on Zoom, it's aimed at Republican-leaning Knox County, Ohio, with participation from locals including people of faith, and designed to spark meaningful conversations across spiritual and political divides.

Facebook has de-prioritized removing hateful slurs against white people, men and Americans, instead focusing on blocking slurs against black people, gays, Jews and other groups. The change on Thursday in Facebook's algorithm is a shift from the social network's 'race-blind' system that previously removed anti-white insults as well posts such as 'men are dumb' or 'Americans are stupid.' [SNIP] 'We know that hate speech targeted towards under-represented groups can be the most harmful, which is why we have focused our technology on finding the hate speech that users and experts tell us is the most serious,' said Facebook spokeswoman Sally Aldous.

Georgia’s Dekalb County does not know if it is in possession of the ballot transfer forms used to record the chain of custody for absentee ballots dropped into some 300 drop boxes around the state. These remote operations and VRE’s current workload greatly impact how soon responsive records can be provided,” the response from the department stated.

Slanted is the third book by Sharyl Attkisson, and as with her other two, it is a refreshing read. It is nice to know that there are still independent journalists who put fact over opinion, and she is one of those. To no one's surprise, she talks about the shift in the news, from a focus on reporting the facts to more on trying to push a narrative on the American people. Attkisson begins Slanted by talking about George Orwell's book 1984.
