E-commerce platform Etsy says it is stamping out “harmful misinformation… from knitters making MAGA-themed beanies.
Conservative author and activist Michelle Malkin reported that Etsy user “Deplorable Knitter” had received a permanent ban from the platform for trying to sell beanie hats bearing the “Stop the Steal” slogan, a Republican rallying cry against voter fraud.
“Trump Derangement Syndrome strikes crafters AGAIN. My friend Deplorable Knitter told me her #StopTheSteal hats have been banned on Etsy,” said Malkin in a tweet.

Censorship and cancel culture is everywhere now. I keep having posts removed off Facebook. Today, I posted an article and they put a warning on it. So, I edited it saying I knew they would censor me, then I said "I would like to know what is partly false...oh, yeah...the ballots were not in suitcases. That's what was false. / sarc"
They deleted my entire post. And all my old posts and comments are not there either.

However, Etsy allows lefty sellers to attack those who agree with the "Stop The Steal" movement.

I’ve ordered a couple of things on Etsy, they were just okay. Had a problem with one, getting a hold of the seller and clearing things up was difficult. Placing an order is easy, anything beyond is confusing and difficult. Including finding a way to complain about what they’ve done to this seller.
So I went to the “Contact Human” website and was surprised to find Etsy was rated with one star, no email, a phone number, plus a long list of negative reviews of no refunds, packages not received, and no place to go above individual sellers. And I keep getting emails from Etsy “Christmas almost here, buy from us!” Well, after hearing of the ban, and reading about a multitude of problems, heck no. There’s many other places to go. Buyers can do their own banning.

Will never use Etsy again. There is either freedom of political expression in America, or there is no freedom at all.

Etsy was one of the first organizations to issue a pro-BLM statement. I can make my own crafts and buy supplies elsewhere. Etsy is nonessential to my life and happiness. I am not surprised that they'd censor what vendors can sell on their site.

Oh, yes - one would think the knitting community would be more open and non-political - however this is just the tip of the iceberg. Look up Dr. Karlyn Borysenko who is an organizational psychologist and an avid knitter. She has reported that the knitting online community has been practicing cancel culture for years. You can find her on You Tube and Paler etc. She has been interviewed by Glen Back among others.
