Vermont Gov. Phil Scott said Tuesday that school officials will question returning students about whether they attended gatherings with people outside their household during Thanksgiving to determine if they need to quarantine over coronavirus concerns.
“Unfortunately, we know some will still get together and schools have asked for help,” the Republican governor tweeted Tuesday. “[The Vermont Agency of Education] will direct schools to ask students or parents if they were part of multi-family gatherings and if the answer is yes, they’ll need to go remote for 14 days or 7 days and a test.”

A little abuse of power, Gov. Scott? Get ready for that recall petition and recall vote, sir.

Parents tell your children that the answer to that question is “I don’t have to tell you squat”. In the meantime I did not know I went to bed in America and woke up in the 1950’s Soviet Union.

This is one time I would have allowed my kids to tell the teacher none of their business. And ignored any frills and dressings they wished to add.

Yes, this guy is a little tyrant. But the thing that is an even bigger issue is "Republican Gov. Phil Scott" in the headline. When was the last time you saw "Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo" in a headline?

How about we rescind all those "Emergency Powers" acts/laws (in all states, as well as, federal). It seems they are a really SLIPPERY slope towards totalitarianism. I really don't trust politicians. It's a good thing that President Donald J Trump (love saying that) is a businessman and NOT a politician.

Can you say STASI? East Germany under Soviet Control. Of course for years we have had doctors being directed to ask kids about if there are guns in the home. Be a spy - be a snitch - get even with those neighbors you don't get along with - the ones who don't mow their lawns 'properly'. Sarc/off

Vermont used to be a wonderful, unique state. That was before immigrants from New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut bought it. Presently, native Vermonters usually live in trailer parks on welfare. I moved out.

Of the many horrors that the reaction to Covid-19 has gifted us, the fact that we all have to perfect the art of the lie really bothers me. It’s not so much that we must lie to the government and the medical community. I have no problem with that, as I’ve been doing it for decades. It’s lying to our friends, family and colleagues about where we were, how we live, who we see. Moreover, how do we teach our children honesty, integrity and character, but then tell them they must lie to the authorities? Don’t misunderstand me; I’ll do it, but it feels dirty and false.

I would spend the first day back with my kid and dare anyone to ask him about our Thanksgiving plans. We have too many RINOs in office.

If this kind of thing goes unchallenged, we might as well give up our freedoms.
The Bill of Rights tell us that WE have protection from the government.
If we concede that government is more important than our liberties, we no longer have a country.

Fidel Castro used children as informants on parents. It helped him to maintain absolute control over Cubans.

Obviously he's part of the deep swamp. It's just ridiculous to have children tattle on their parents. They get in trouble tattling on each other. Remember character Phil Scott? This is just getting sicker and sicker.

I've always wondered what Big Brother's real name was. Phil Scott. And he's a governor of some minor state somewhere on the east coast. Apparently he isn't above a little sibling sabotage.

I had to tell my son, when he was very young, that what goes on at home is no one’s business. Ever. His 2nd grade teacher would grill them on what they had for breakfast. His pediatrician had anti-gun articles all over his waiting room. I also had to tell him that what I put in his lunch was ok to eat—the lunch monitors had no authority over him. This was back in the late 90s! It’s been going on a long time. Demented leftist teachers, doctors...so freaking nosey. No, just say no. Still ticks me off to this day.

Vermont will do this, but it won't let parents know when their teenage daughters want to kill their grandchild in an abortion.

Kids spying on parents for the administration? How Orwellian can you get? This country isn't a satellite of Russia or China yet but these stupid governors want to make it so.

As callers to Boston talk radio asked today, Should our children have legal representation? Should they be read their Miranda Rights first?
Will their answers be challenged? Will they be forced to provide evidence (of some kind or other)?
EVERYONE: keep your eyes on these governors and likeminded mayors and make sure these petty tyrants never run for another office, including sheriff , any kind of law enforcement. Prison guard would be okay.
