Warren urges Biden to bypass
Congress and cancel student loan debt

Elizabeth Warren called on President-elect Joe Biden to bypass Congress and cancel billions of dollars in student loan debt, arguing that it could be a powerful economic stimulus tool for families still reeling from the coronavirus pandemic. "Biden-Harris can cancel billions of dollars in student loan debt, giving tens of millions of Americans an immediate financial boost and helping to close the racial wealth gap," the Massachusetts senator tweeted, referring to both the incoming chief executive and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. "This is the single most effective executive action available for a massive economic stimulus."

So what about recent college graduates who had student debt loans to the government, yet secured jobs, and then decided to use their initial earnings to pay off their student loan debt immediately, rather than in installments over the 10-to-20 years the government allows? They may now show no debt, but will Warren's plan reimburse them their student loan payments? If not, her plan punishes the thrifty, responsible kids and rewards to parasites.

It sickens me that the Biden administration will be filled with a bunch of delusional people like Elizabeth Warren. "Defund the police"; "student loan forgiveness"; the "green new deal"; they really do believe money grows on trees. Here's what I think the Left is planning: 1) with Harris-Biden in office, a protracted shutdown will take place; 2) Many more businesses will fail, as they have been struggling to get back on their feet from the shutdown that occurred last winter; 3) The Harris-Biden will promise to bail them out, but with many strings attached, meaning, they will be saddled with crippling regulations; 4) This scenario results in fascism, which is the precursor for, voila!!, communism. Mission accomplished.

As I recall, I paid 7% interest on that loan. I'm willing to accept that, as long as it is compounded. I will expect my check by the end of January.

Only legislation can cancel student debt since it involves appropriations. Also it will be challenged on a discrimination basis, large loans vs small, vs no loans or paid loans. Funny they attacked TRUMP for lawfully diverting military funding to build the wall but its OK to divert money directly from the treasury without any legislation.

We've saved, opened 529's for all three of our kids when they were young so that we'd be prepared to pay for their college education. We have one left with only 2 semesters to go, no loans, no debt. So now they want me to pay for the debt of students who took out loans? No. I'd image that 3/4 of the student debt comes with worthless degrees too. No, won't pay for that. We recently asked my Father in Law who is a surgeon, now retired. We asked him how much "Medical School" was back in the 50's. He paid $600 Per Semester. the equivalent in today's dollars was around $3500. I looked up the average cost now for a Medical degree $150K-$375K The Universities are taking advantage and over charging. Of course they are all run by money grubbing liberal democrats too.

You might read the linked letter from the Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School. Let's play along with the legal logic...in 1988, that would be the Reagan Administration, the Secretary of Education was given statutory authority to “enforce, pay, compromise, waive, or release any right, title, claim, lien, or demand, however acquired, including any equity or any right of redemption.” Obviously the law was never intended for cancellation of all student loan debt, or any sort of general debt forgiveness. And here we are... Can't wait to hear any Democrat Secretary of Education nominee at confirmation hearings provide testimony...and watching the Pubbies shrink from battle over this. Hey, like those stimulus checks, it's only money from an empty Treasury vault.

After going through my kids' college funds during a long layoff in the early 2000s, I had to use the student loan program to finance three kids' education. The repayment got, much, much worse under Obama system. Finally, rolled these costs ($200K) into a home refinance at a much lower rate which is nearly paid off. And now I get to pay for the deadbeats who chose not to honor their obligations? What about the thousands of folks like me? Where do we get relief? They didn't run on this.

Here we are in the midst of a once-in-a-half-century pandemic, with the economy flattened, millions of people unemployed, and unrest on the streets of our cities. And President-elect Joe Biden says that one of his highest priorities as president will be to reenter the Paris climate accord. President Trump kept his "put America first" promise and pulled the United States out of this Obama-era treaty. Biden wants us back in. Why? Paris is an unmitigated failure. You don't have to take my word for it. National Geographic, a supporter of climate change action, recently ran the numbers and admitted in its recent headline: "Most countries aren't hitting 2030 climate goals."

President Trump granted a pardon to Michael Flynn, his former national-security adviser, today. Flynn had pled guilty to lying to FBI agents about conversations, during the 2016 transition, with the Russian ambassador about sanctions. Flynn’s pardon should bring to an end one gross violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers, even as it gives rise to groundless accusations of another. Although Flynn had pled guilty, the circumstances of the case had raised serious concerns about whether the government had proceeded properly. The FBI, for example, questioned Flynn even though it did not appear he had violated any law. In May, Attorney General William Barr ordered the case dropped.

White House chief medical adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday said “it’s still not OK” for people to gather in public indoors even if they’re vaccinated against COVID-19. Appearing on MSNBC’s “The Mehdi Hasan Show,” Dr. Fauci was asked whether “eating and drinking indoors in restaurants and bars” is safe now that nearly 22% of the population had been fully vaccinated. “No, it’s still not OK for the simple reason that the level of infection, the dynamics of infection in the community are still really disturbingly high,” Dr. Fauci responded. “Like just yesterday, there were close to 80,000 new infections, and we’ve been hanging

George Floyd died in police custody after a corner store clerk reported he had used a fake $20 bill, a nonviolent offense so low-level that police don't usually take people to jail for it. Now, as the trial over his death continues to unfold, criminal justice reform experts and diversity specialists are hoping the case will prompt retailers—from small businesses to major chains—to reassess how they treat Black and other minority customers and how they can handle loss prevention cases more equitably. Retailers, they point out, are on the front lines of racial justice in their own stores. "While interactions with the police

How long has it been since January 20? A bit under three months. Frankly, it feels like a lifetime, when it comes to all the things that Joe Biden has been able to screw up in such a short period of time. The NY Post’s Michael Goodwin listed some of the lowlights in a great piece Saturday. If it ain’t broke… no worries, Joe Biden will break it for you. Biden created a crisis at the border after President Donald Trump had fixed it through almost sheer force of will, despite Democrats trying to check him at every turn. Trump’s ability to make a deal with Mexico to essentially become the wall,

Pete Buttigieg told Christians Sunday that getting vaccinated against coronavirus is 'part of God's plan' as a new poll shows 30% of white evangelicals will definitely refuse to get inoculated. 'You have been outspoken on issues of your personal faith. Otherwise, I normally wouldn't bring this up,' CNN's Jake Tapper posed to Buttigieg. 'Why do you think it is that so many of your fellow white evangelical Christians are reluctant to be vaccinated? And what's your message to them?' 'You know, sometimes, I have heard people, people I care about, saying, if I'm faithful, God's going to take care of me,' the Transportation secretary said...

In the next couple of months, the Environmental Protection Agency will issue new fuel economy standards that could be impossible for carmakers to meet – without going electric. That, at least, is what President Joe Biden’s EPA Administrator Michael Regan is indicating. In an interview with Bloomberg last week, Regan talked about imposing rules that meet “the urgency of the climate crisis,” and “did not rule out future emissions requirements that create a de facto ban on new conventional, gasoline-powered automobiles, like an explicit phase-out ordered by California Gov. Gavin Newsom.” Regan could, for example, require automakers to sell cars that
