His are the only Bond movies I watch. The others are poor attempts to capture what Sir Sean defines as 007.

#1, truly the best of voices. Manly and handsome in an age when it was so welcome.
The way most of us wish to go, in our sleep. A fitting end for a stellar actor and human being.

Sean Connery wasn't just an actor, he was an icon. After all the actors who've played the character, he is still the best Bond.

Other actors worked at playing James Bond...Connery WAS James Bond. And admit it, a great era for all of us to have been alive and to have experienced that model of men. I pity those who will only know the current model of Beta males and the kinda-sorta women who have shaped that model into existence.

Simply the greatest. As noted, the best Bond of them all. Loved him in "Untouchables": 'This town stinks like a whorehouse at low tide!'
Or when 'interviewing' Andy Garcia, who turns out to be Italian: "That's all we need, a thieving w*p on our team."
Garcia, pulling a weapon: "Better than you, you Irish pig!"
Connery, to Costner: "Oh I like him. He'll do."
Costner: "I like him too."

He did have a great run. Great way to go out too. I still watch him in the Great Train Robbery. Fun film to watch. He did his own stunts on top of that train too - whizzing under those bridges - daredevil stuff.

It was always a treat to dress up and take my future wife to dinner and a downtown theater (that was always packed) to watch the newest 007 movie..one time we had to sit in the second row it was so crowded..went back a second time to really see it...

Memorable mention of Connery in the First Wives Club movie. Goldie Hawn's character was lamenting how Hollywood only cared about the age of women, not men. Then she said something like 'look at Sean Connery, 300 years old and still a stud.' Gotta agree with her on that point. He aged very well.
Loved all of Connery's work, and he will be missed. He was a fine representative of Scotland too.

I remember going to see “Goldfinger” when I was 15 - the first Bond flick I’d seen - and hearing him say “you’re a woman of many parts, Pussy...” but my favorite role of his was Jimmy Malone in “The Untouchnables”.
RIP, Sir Sean, and thanks for the memories.

Sad news about a wonderful actor. For those of you wanting more stories about Sean Connery the actor, his American Film Institute tribute is available online. I particularly liked Harrison Ford's speech below.

Sir Sean Connery was the only real James Bond, a man's man who made no excuses for being so. And he did a lot more than the 007 movies. I remember him with Tippi Hedren in Marnie (1964), around the time he did Goldfinger.
In 1964 my paternal grandmother took me to Nashville's Belcourt Cinema where we watched Goldfinger, then in its early release time. Before the movie she told me is was about James Bond. As a 9-year-old who hadn't heard of him them, I thought James Bond was the guy down at the bank. I learned better that day.
(I do voices, and Sean Connery is one of my favorites. I warm up by pronouncing Connery's native country the way he did: "Sch-cot lund" and Bobby Jones in a Masters' film he narrated "Bawby Jawnsch") Thank you for all you did, Mr. Connery. You did good.
