A University of Kansas sorority member has been put on probation for 'unbecoming' behavior after she shared a Candace Owens post criticizing Black Lives Matter. Sophomore Katherine Lauer was rebuked by the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority after reposting a tweet from the black conservative commentator in which she said BLM was 'the most flagrantly racist organization in America'. Owens wrote on September 23: 'Black Lives Matter is an organization of white men, using the faces of dead black people, to raise millions of dollars toward electing white Democrats into positions of power.'

Free speech is not free in liberal-land. Lawsuit time if this harms her academic career.

Fine sorority there.
A communal sex act with six guys from the basketball team is probably OK, though.

Move along. Nothing to see here. Just another detainee off to voluntary re-education camp. Katherine who?

If they censor this much when they're not in power, I can only wonder what they would do if they had the power.

This abuse of free speech at educational institutions (from Kindergarten to graduate schools) must be stopped! America's First Amendment rights are being infringed more each day and far too little is being done to stop it. We cannot count of only our courts to stop it. We need serious consequences from other sources.

I checked out that sorority's website and I didn't see any black faces among its membership.

My advice: Take all your sorority paraphernalia and burn it in the House's front yard. You do not need them as much as they need you and your support, and you do not want to be associated with such a group.

You don't want to be a member of ANY Stepford sorority which seeks to exercise mind control over you. The sorority is THE MOB. Sue them.

My son attends a fine, liberal arts, pro-Christian college (required chapel), etc. You'd call it a conservative college. But their President ran with the BLM-stuff when it hit this spring.
But as I told him, it's not conservative. It's just less-liberal than other colleges. Keep that in mind, son.

Anyone who appreciates Candice Owens deserves praise and a promotion. And shouldn’t be wasting her (or her parents) money on sorority fees. It is wonderful when you become aware that you have your own mind. People who as adults still prize their past Greek memberships have yet to mature.

Ah, sororities....the centers of all great intellectual capacity at all universities.
Not.

#6, my comment at #2 is not a theoretical comment.
A certain sorority is known for pretty white (and occasionally Asian) girls who are great friends to aspiring professional basketball stars on campus. They really spread themselves out to show hospitality.
After five or so years of hard riding, the left overs (1) marry stupid white guys and have kids that look like the pool guy and (2) become liberal activists on the stupid white guy's dime.

This is why I do not give to my college and fraternity, and have not for 30+ years in the case of the college. Writings from my wife's college have caused her to stop contributions also. We have both written to our colleges to explain our reasons and neither college bothered to reply. The progressive claptrap they push is an anathema to the freedoms we enjoyed when we attended 50+ years ago.

Sororities are still racist, just like in the 1960s, but now for a different color.
So people will have to sit down, shut up, and apologize for telling the truth. Just like the 1960s.
Having lived in both periods, my impression that 2020 is far more racist than 1960, because the racism is advanced, approved of, and promoted to a far more universal degree now than then.
Maybe the future will call this time the "James Crow" period.
Racism is racism. It does not matter what color your skin is when you practice it. You would think that the people whose ancestors suffered from it most recently would be ashamed to bring forward any justification for practicing it now into the future.
Apparently not.
Invisible lives matter.

KU campus is about 25 miles from where I sit right now. I know a young lady who just graduated there, has been sworn in to the USAF, not yet given first orders due to Wuhan disruptions.
KU is pretty lefty, even here in KS.

Somewhat OT, but I feel compelled to object to all the negative generalizations about Greek sororities.
When I was a very young 16 yo, only-child from a Catholic girls' school attempting to make a somewhat difficult transition into the wider world, I was incredibly lucky and grateful to experience 'sisterhood' for the first time!
I joined a sorority at Berkeley that accepted us with love and tolerance and unconditional support, and a sorority that had a consistently highest academic ranking among all sororities on campus, then and now. Not to mention some lifelong friends along the way.

Find a good lawyer Kathy and sue the dreadlocks off your sorority sisters and the Sorority. My advice Kathy is to transfer to more conservative university where you will learn about your rights provided under our Constitution.
