Wednesday night’s kickoff episode of the Mike and ’Mala show wasn’t just the soon-to-be-forgotten sole vice presidential debate of 2020. No, it was something far more important: the first exhibition game of Campaign 2024.
Whether Donald Trump wins or loses on Nov. 3, Pence is in a stronger position than anybody to be the GOP’s next batter up. He’s got name recognition, all the experience you could ask for, and he’s battle-tested. He might be the only figure who can unite the Normies and the Trumpies —both the boring, staid suburbanites in khakis who vote GOP because they like normal stuff like low taxes, light regulation and cultural conservatism;

I’m thinking Donald Trump Junior will be a real contender in’24.

A Pence/ Don Jr. ticket will be unstoppable. It will avoid charges of dynastic nepotism, benefit from Pence's experience, maturity while maintaining connections to the Trump organization. Best of all worlds.

Only if DJT wins this election. If he doesn't we can forget about Republicans ever controlling any body again.

The best experience imaginable to be elected President in November of 2024 is being Donald Trump's Vice President for eight years. Such experience is priceless.

I have been watching Pence learn from Trump for years now and the debate cemented my belief that he will be a great third and maybe even a fourth term for Trump, but I think Don Jr is a bridge too far he is a little too abrasive I would prefer someone like a Meadows or Jordan to serve as Pence's VP. It almost feels like we have turned the corner and the democrats in their hysteria have told us that they know this battle is lost. They can only hope to hold the House and perhaps get the Senate which will make for another four yrs of hell for the President and the American people but it is a lot harder to predict the outcomes of all these 435 races so we shall see. The Senate is always important just let's hope Trump wins in a landslide and brings the down ticket with him.

Pence was cool, calm and collected in his debate with Harris. He made excellent counter points. There's no doubt in my mind that he would be a serious future candidate were he to elect to run.

If Biden becomes President, there will never be another President who is not a Democrat, unless there is a violent revolution. The Democrats thought they had enough control to prevent Trump from winning, they won't be so subtle the next time.

Kristi Noem needs to be part of the discussion, along with R Paul, Jindal, Walker and Dr Carson

I hope our wonderful vice-president rides off to the retirement he richly deserves in January 2025. It’s time to move on to the next generation. Beginning in 1993 we have had four baby boom presidents, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump. That’s 28 years if, God willing, Trump wins. That’s enough of one generation.

Does Mike Pence have the stomach and perseverance for the fight?

Pence, Cotton, Pompeo, Hawley, Junior, DeSantis, Hayley and Cruz are, to me, the likely contestants.
My preference is Pompeo with Kristi Noem his running mate.
Pence would be out because he'll need a female VP and he can't be around other women unless Mrs. Pence is there, or something.

Conservative TX congressman Dan Crenshaw said in an interview that he would be interested in running for President, but he felt that 2024 was too early. Maybe a Pence/Crenshaw ticket would be intriguing.

We should all know by now that speculation about the next election four years out is foolish. Mike Pence is a fine man, the perfect VP for Trump and did a great job in the debate. Can't we just leave it at that?

Sorry for the second post, but how do we know that Pence even wants to run for president? He seems to me to be a Dick Cheney sort of guy by temperament.

Nah, sorry. Nice guy. Not a fighter. We need someone to carry the torch of the Trump Legacy.
