Black Lives Matter mobs protesting in Wisconsin over the decision not to charge a black cop for fatally shooting a gun-firing teen turned their rage on innocent homeowners—lobbing rocks through windows on a residential street. Troubling video showed up to a dozen people running up to homes in Wauwatosa, the sound of breaking glass and celebratory horn blasts as they repeatedly hurl heavy objects through windows.(Snip) Other footage shot by Rosas showed mobs whooping in celebration as they smashed businesses’ windows, with one man walking along and using a hammer to calmly ensure every window broke.

I guess that will be one way to get On the Fence voters in WI to vote for Trump. I'm sure the Democrats in that community never thought those Peaceful Protesters would come to their neighborhood and Riot! Is this going to happen every time a Black guy shoots at a Policeman only to find the Policeman will shoot back and kill him? Yes, it is going to happen on a daily or weekly basis. Why? Because it gives the BLM and ANTIFA Thugs a reason to Riot and get more loot! It's just a night out for them! Boys being boys!

#! Apparently not - though it probably should happen. If you aren't willing to defend your home and family.......then vote Dumocrat. But don't imagine the Dums will defend you. After all, you do carry insurance against mayhem, right?

There but the grace of God go I. I live in about the safest place imaginable with phenomenal schools. Last time I went out for a jog I saw a McLaren parked in the town next door. But alas we were recently paid a visit and rather than shoot the armed fleeing suspects our police let them run off. Was that the right call? I believe that in that one split second decision the police prevented my town from being utterly destroyed, and my neighborhood vandalized. Not to mention what I could be experiencing right now because I have every intention of defending myself, my wife and my neighbors and the means to do so.

My opinion is you have to be willfully ignorant, stupid or a closet communist to vote for a dem, but sorry to say but I think there are many who fit that criteria.

Protests, protests, protests then finally the author used rioters when tear gas was applied. It was a riot from the beginning. Enough is enough. The victims of this riot deserve justice before their lives are smashed to emotional shambles. Overwhelming force is justified at first breaking of the law. What happened to the old adage, looters will be shot on sight.

FTA: “Do you have any idea how many Democrats, how many MPS teachers, union members, other people that support you live on this street?” the man complained to protesters
I hope it is true that the neighborhood under attack is a Dem stronghold. They need to experience the result of decades of blind loyalty to that party.

Castle laws being what they are, when a violent crowd invades your property and is hurling potentially-deadly missiles at your house is your only defense really to shelter in your home, lock your door, and move away from windows? What if they torch your car in the driveway? What if they kill your dog in the yard? At what point is deadly force authorized?

So, a black cop shooting a "teen" who was shooting at him is no longer OK for BLM?
They really do want to just end policing. At some point, if the police don't show up, people will realize that they are on their own and will have to use their own means to protect themselves. That is not the best way, policing is better, but BLM/antifa thugs seem to be effectively getting the police to the point where any enforcement of the law against blacks is not acceptable.
These rioters should have been stopped much earlier.

Same with my area #1.
Start throwing heavy objects at me, my family, my house, property etc and you will be met with a much lighter objects traveling at much higher speed !!
It's all about mass - velocity - energy .... never mind.
Sorry, um, no I'm not. This type of action by individuals is ALL the RIOTERS understand and since we have seen, repeatedly, how the RIOTERS will be handled by 'the authorities', we're on our own folks. May as well face it now. There is no more proof needed nor justification.

#15, the typical test which is applied in deadly force cases to see if you were in the exception made for self-defense is called "the reasonable man test". The concept is "what would a reasonable man do in this situation?".
You are permitted by law in most states to defend yourself or family from "death or serious bodily harm".
Generally, a single rock or even two or three rocks tossed through windows and then the vandals moving on wouldn't meet this test. I am certain that if you shot someone for tossing a rock through a window, you'd be in serious legal jeopardy. If they tried to set fire to the house, that would be an attack with clear deadly possibilities, especially if there were multiple people in the house, especially if they were old, frail, or very young and perhaps less able to quickly flee. A direct attack with weapons would qualify in many situations.
Inside your home versus outside your home makes a big difference, too. If they enter, many states make that an indicator of violent intent towards residents. A tossed rock from outside....again, while it would anger me a lot, it is not going to be seen as reasonable to shoot someone for that. Vandalism isn't the same as directly attacking a person with intent to 'cause death or great bodily harm'.
Self-defense is a real right, but it is relatively narrowly drawn. This is a topic which I taught in concealed carry classes, so had to understand the state laws and be able to explain it to students. I have been in many discussions on this topic, always referring to the laws.
In any state, if you search on "jury instructions for self-defense case" you are likely to find a standard set of words which a judge reads to the jury before they go deliberate, after hearing the witnesses in the case. It is worth understanding what the jury will be instructed to use as a basis for their judgement.
Here is the jury instructions for California, for example.
Note that in California they add "..no more force than was reasonably necessary to defend against that danger". It is critical to know the requirements of your state's laws, each state may be a bit different.

Poster 19: I suppose the meaning of self defense is variable, like the definition of 'is'.
California says ".'no more force than was reasonably necessary to defend against that danger'
I propose a scenario in which rioters are trying to set fire to your home. I would shoot first, but would a CA prosecutor argue 'your lives weren't in danger as you had multiple exits from your home'?
Leave Dem municipalities if you can.

In a 1995 book about armed self defense (The Ayoob Files: The Book, adapted from his regular column in American Handgunner), forty year veteran police officer and prolific author Massad Ayoob anticipates what #16 wrote. (#16 is correct that the police are the proper people to deal with violent criminals, and that anything else is problematic at best. But what if the police are gone?)
Ayoob: "Be aware that your police are not prepared to deal with massive and violent civil upheaval, and will leave you on your own in such an emergency. Be further advised that, waiting period or not, you may not be able to buy a gun then when something close to martial law is imposed, so you'd best have guns and ammo and training and plans now."
I agree with those who say that the violence should never have been allowed to get to where it is now. Putting it down in the worst afflicted places will require plenty of force. One only hopes that milk-kneed prosecutors and judges won't continue with the revolving jail door routine that guarantees endless repeat offenses. I would bet that a significant majority of Americans have already had enough of the BLM-Antifa nonsense. Many Americans live in areas with abundant neighbors who would take an exceedingly dim view of strangers coming around to vandalize their property and threaten them with physical harm. Silent America has its limits. In the final analysis, your safety and well being are your responsibility. When it comes to nut cracking time, you must be able to defend yourself. The police are, at best, minutes away.

Good post #19. A rock or two without people on the porch or trying to break down a door, would not be enough in NY state to warrant a shotgun blast at the rock thrower(s). An advancing mob on the doorstep and firebombs would be the minimum threat required. I'm sure the prosecutor would expect us to run out the back and watch our world burn to the ground.
My wife and I are too old to try and run from a mob, so the first Molotov bottle that is lit, gets a demo of a very different clay pigeon shoot. It would take most of my self control to not respond to a rock or two thrown into the house, but fire is the line that can not be crossed.

#20 and #24, it would seem reasonable that multiple (even one) arsonist with a lit Molotov cocktail in hand ready to throw it and sizing up you home would qualify for a need for immediate application of force to stop the deliver of the incendiary device against your home.
A shotgun with large caliber birdshot, say #2s, would be ideal in such a situation because it would shatter the bottle and most likely envelope the attacker in his own fire, and beyond perhaps 15 or 20 yds is unlikely to be fatal with a single shot and rapid medical care. Medical care may be moot if the gasoline bomb blows apart in an upraised hand.
In all my classes, I asked what the police would write down on the paperwork if they shot a person in self-defense. After a few guesses from students, I give the correct answer. Homicide. The response is always immediate buzz and denial in the room, "Can't be right!" etc. Once the calm down a bit, I explain that a successful, legal self-defense IS A HOMICIDE. But, if you followed the laws, you will be within the "self-defense exception". Be certain that you understand what the "self-defense exception" means, EXACTLY, in your state. This is critical knowledge. It is also useful to know what the local prosecutor does, which is sometimes at variance to the written statute.
Paul Harrell on YouTube has some videos on self-defense that are worth watching and paying attention to. And Mr. Harrell had to kill someone once in self-defense, which I did NOT find out from his videos, but by a background search that I did. IMO, if you want to learn about guns and ammunition, you could do much worse than paying attention to his testing and explanations. Pretty savvy guy. I love his "meat target" and it is probably a pretty decent test medium.

Re #28: Paul Harrell is a good online teacher about firearms and ammunition. I watch some of his videos every week. John Correia of Advanced Self Protection analyzes self defense videos so his watchers can learn through others' good and bad experiences with or against firearms.
Rocks or bricks into a window might not engender a deadly response, but an attacker with a can of gasoline or a Molotov cocktail heading for one's front or back door might be worth stopping before the arsonist gets to where he's headed. If he's carrying incendiaries, maybe he'd appreciate some Dragon's breath, available in 12 gauge. Watch this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKxmKFld5DA
Make an arsonist's day. Set him on fire.
