Subtlety has been a stranger to our politics. This is the age of rage, and there is little room for nuance. That is evident in the intense debate over the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Democrats have dispensed with any pretense in their calls to block her and pack the bench with more justices. What they want is a new reliable Supreme Court created through litmus test confirmations where Senate votes are conditioned on judicial pledges.
Several Democrats have said they will ask Barrett about her view of any challenge to Roe versus Wade, and of cases like the pending challenge to the Affordable Care Act.
Wouldn't an easy fix be having the Republicans immediately submit a bill into Congress making 9 the top number with a super majority to be able to change that number. Then telling the Democrats that if they don't vote for it, Trump would immediately select 6 more nominees to add to the court. I think the Democrats might be for it.

If packing really would destroy the Supreme Court I would be all for packing. America needs to get rid of un-elected, un-accountable black robed tyrants. In lieu of getting rid of the federal judiciary I would accept all judges being elected to limited terms of 6 years with an 18-year max total for all levels. i.e 6 years each at district, appeals, & supremes.etc .

Suffice to say that the dim party as we once knew it is dead. It has been replaced by a marxist-like politburo that defies imagination. Their plan to re-engineer the SCOTUS is only one small piece of the plan to transform the nation so it better fits into the one world governmental structure. Don't fall for it. Not for a minute.

"Most of the major ills of the world have been caused by well-meaning people who ignored the principle of individual freedom, except as applied to themselves, and who were obsessed with fanatical zeal to improve the lot of mankind-in-the-mass through some pet formula of their own. The harm done by ordinary criminals, murderers, gangsters, and thieves is negligible in comparison with the agony inflicted upon human beings by the professional do-gooders, who attempt to set themselves up as gods on earth and who would ruthlessly force their views on all others - with the abiding assurance that the end justifies the means."
-- Henry Grady Weaver
[ The lying do-gooders in our case are the Globalist Marxist Communists of The One World Government. Since 1913 those Americans advocating this our calling their cause "A New World Order" instead of the Marxist Communists that they are. ]
"...There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. ... Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing."
-- Daniel Webster, June 1, 1837
[ The only way America will ever be destroyed is by traitors within government, education, military, of whom America now has a seemingly majority calling themselves social progressives because they know better than to call themselves Marxist Communists until they attain majority control over the people who love America as founded in freedom. ]

The democrat philosophy of government should be synonymous with destruction. Everything they touch, they destroy. There is example after example that could be repeated to reinforce that truth. It is no surprise that they wish to pack the Supreme Court. I believe they would do anything to gain political power and that is what makes them so dangerous. They actually believe that the end justifies the means and that is why it has been revealed that a former President conspired to unseat his duly elected replacement. Packing the Supreme Court would be a given considering the Political advantage that would give them. Nothing is off the table even politicizing a virus is a viable political strategy. To say these people are dangerous to the Republic is a massive understatement.

If the democrats steal power they will ruin everything. The radical left will be just as apt to abolish the Supreme Court and rule directly from the White House. Congress will be reduced to a useless debating society (they don't have far to go) and the Constitution will be shredded except for the 2nd Amendment. There's still that nasty little fact that American Patriots have far more weapons than they do and the two-hundred year-plus standing duty to use them to preserve what we have. It will be a shame to have invested in all of this bulk ammo for nothing but it's a better investment than life insurance.

The last time Congress changed the number of Supreme Court justices was in 1869, when Grant was president. The number was increased from 7 to 9. Clearly it would be republican insanity if the current (republican majority) Senate voted to pass a Bill that would increase this number of justices as there is not enough time for President Trump to seat ANY of those justices and - GOD FORBID - if President Trump is not reelected, Biden would pack the SC with liberal justices.

I'm with #2. There is so much wrong with the supreme court that the list becomes exhaustive and exhausting:
1. Arrogation of a so-called right of "judicial review", a fictitious power found nowhere in the Constitution that relies entirely on an invidious precedent established by the court's deeply-dishonest decision in Marbury versus Madison. 2. Ongoing expansion of its clearly-stated original jurisdiction in our Constitution. 3. Complete failure of Congress to confine the court within that original jurisdiction by using its own balancing powers against it. 4. Destruction of separation of powers by combining executive (court orders), legislative (judicial review), and judicial (appelate decisions) functions within a single, non-elected entity. In effect, the supreme court has become a third house of Congress and a parallel branch of the Executive. It needs to dismantled.
Fortunately, Congress created the current supreme court structure by a simple majority vote and Congress can change it the same way. Instead of attacking the court's unconstitutional powers directly, I would start by diluting them. For example, Congress could pass a law that expands the supreme court to mirror the structure of Congress. The President could then nominate an additional 526 justices. This would simultaneously dilute the power of any one justice and slow the effect of individual changes in its membership. It would also probably make it impossible for the expanded supreme court to hear more than a few cases each year.
And that would be a shame....

Whenever the Democrats have a SCOTUS they are not happy with, they want to "pack" the court. this goes all the way back to FDR. But, during his 4 terms as president, FDR still managed to select enough judges that had a decided bias for the Democrats,
President Trump has been the first President in a long, long time to nominate justices that are faithful to the Constitution rather than ignoring it.

Since the Supreme Court does not have any Constitutional authority to rule on the constitutionality of laws, perhaps that is the solution if they pack the court. Just point out that the SC has no authority, beyond their own bootstrapped authority that they GAVE TO THEMSELVES, created out of nothing, in the case Marbury vs Madison.
Just stop LETTING them rule on the Constitutionality of laws. They actually do not have the authority, other than our acquiescence in this fraud.

Dems want a tyrannical dictatorship where the SCOTUS is simply a rubber stamp for what they want. This would end the rule of law. That is what they want because the law keeps getting in their way.

Hello. You work for US. We the People and our tax dollars pay your salary.
When Dems don't get their way, they change the rules. Their jobs depend on the voting booth. Please send them home.
