Democrats' Armageddon option

Furious Democrats are considering total war — profound changes to two branches of government, and even adding stars to the flag — if Republicans jam through a Supreme Court nominee then lose control of the Senate.
On the table: Adding Supreme Court justices ... eliminating the Senate's 60-vote threshold to end filibusters ... and statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico. "If he holds a vote in 2020, we pack the court in 2021," Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-Mass.) tweeted.
Why it matters: Democrats are enraged by GOP hypocrisy of rushing through a new justice for President Trump after stalling President Obama's final nominee.

To Dems hypocrisy=rule of law when applied by GOP.
They really hate being outmaneuvered and throwing a tantrum is their default response.

All this loose talk about court packing. Don't they know (stupid question) that there is a law setting the court size to 9 and it requires control of all three branches to change the law? It has been done several times in the past. Idle threat unless they see some Republican wipeout in the future.

using a quote from joe kennedy III, is like turning on the tape recorder to a pre-set recording. this whole scenario is nothing like the democrats ever envisioned and are now seething over the fact that they are, and will, lose all political importance if DJT is re-elected in November. especially if the American public gives the House back to the Republicans (thank God, without paul ryan as speaker) and not only holds the Senate but gains seats there, also. if DJT only had a reliable Speaker in his 1st two years, no telling where this country would be right now. paul ryan was and is, the biggest backstabber to the Republican party, ever and should be held in such disdain to never be able to hold his head high in any gathering of citizens.

I agree with #3 regarding Paul Ryan. Don't forget he was also Romney's VP choice.

But if the Republicans win they could also expand the court and put several more conservative justices on the Supreme Court. Expanding the number of Justices on the court is a two edged sword and could go on indefinitely based upon whichever party wins enough of the two branches of the federal government to ram home another extension.

If the Demon-Rats try to change the SCOTUS, the SCOTUS will just declare that unconstitutional. Case closed. Huge waste of time and tax dollars, but that is what Demon-Rats do best -- waste time and tax dollars!!!!
But that is what happens when you are a lie-beral and incapable of applying logic, reason, or facts to any subject.

So if Dems are saying they'll pack the courts if they win, why don't we? Why pick just one judge?

Nothing new here. What the Dems proposed to do in retaliation for a replacement for Justices Ginsberg, they were going to do anyway, even if RBG was still alive. But the Dems may rule their Harry Reid thought process. If by chance the Republicans were to keep the Senate, win enough seats to retake the House, and Donald Trump was to be re-elected, the idea of expanding the courts to 15 Justices, and pack them with conservatives sounds apppealing. Vote MAGA in November.

If the Dims win and try to establish two new states -- if the Republicans win they should disestablish two existing states starting with New York and California.

Hypocrisy is never a Democrat failing, huh?
And Obama was a Lame duck, that is, a 2-term president on his way out. Trump, potentially has another four years to be president. I can hope he'll replace Ginsburg and add yet another justice before he's done.
If Democrats opt for Armageddon, I'll be happy to help put them out of their misery.

"Democrats are considering total war"
Huh. So what do you call the attempted coup by the intelligence community, the Russia hoax, and the faux impeachment?
Does anyone believe the Dems have held anything back to date?
Lots of bluster..they have already shot their wad so to speak.
They got bupkis.

Agree with #12. The Democrats hate Trump because he fights instead of constantly giving in which they are so used to that they think it is what they are owed.

No hypocrisy. Obama was done, Trump is not.
Dems never will admit their own massive hypocrisy on many things.

Perfect if Trump wins he can now pack the Court and raise the number by at least 2 or 3 new Judges. See that is how it works nitwits, you propose it and Trump can then follow through. You want rid of the filibuster? Sure why not if we take both Houses you might just be singing a different tune I think. Just like Harry's nuclear option these things will come back to bit you in the you know what.
