As always, follow the money!
Forgive my insensitivity, but what happened Thursday night at Citi Field was easier done than said because it was a matter of money. In this case, not much of it was at stake.
And every person at or near the top of sports who publicly declares his or her support for Thursday’s Marlins-Mets race-based boycott is full of it. Whatever the issue or cause, it’s a lot easier to be righteous when there are no paying customers to send home. Timing was everything.
What other employer would let you not show up to work to make a political/social statement and pay you ? Protest on your own time.
Never too big to fail or as someone once said "You're fired"

The postponement of those games last Thursday was the last straw. I told my wife that I am through following sports. They can take their holier than thou attitudes and shove it where the sun don't shine. I hope they go broke. And not just the MLB and the NBA, Roger Goodell can kiss off after last week when he announced that the NFL should have listened to Kapernick. Eff You.

Sporting events are no longer an escape from all the crap people have to deal with in their regular normal everyday lives. They are no longer an escape, they only make things suck even more now. I've blocked all the channels that have anything to do with Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Soccer. Not that I ever watched Soccer, but after hearing what Soccer players said, especially the woman who play Soccer for the Olympic team, I don't want to even accidently see any of them while I'm channel surfing.

If they had done this when there were fans in the stands, they would have been deafened from boos and showered with beer and scraps of food. Cowards! If I told my boss I wanted the day off the protest abortion, I'd be out on the sidewalk in a heartbeat.

Have loved Phil Mushnick's columns for many years. He is spot on all the time.
As noted, we watch sports as a diversion away from whatever social craziness is currently going on. When sports becomes yet another platform for the cause du jour, we find that we can take it or leave it, mostly (as Phil says) leave it.

It's all crapola...the Bengals 'staged' a march to the Freedom Center Museum in Cincinnati the other day...they just keep sealing their fate with fans....

How many fans have professional sports offended and insulted by accusing them of being racist? I am one, and I strongly believe that I'm not alone, not by a long shot. And I am never coming back either.

All they do is bow to the communist thugs promoting this bogus hoax. Pathetic lemmings following their blm masters. These athletes still haven't figure it out. They are the useful fools in supporting a communist, anti-American agenda. Their actions are appalling. Got it..

Personally, I thought it was very nice of the thugs...err...professional athletes to refrain from distracting viewers from our President's acceptance speech.

Face it: Players and officials are cowards. They are afraid to stand up to the mob that threatens them. They compromise their personal values to please other people- even some teammates! In spite of what they may say publicly, they know it's wrong and that they are insulting good people.
If they don't have the courage of their convictions, they are cowards.

#10, add in the corporations which the left hates so much. They can’t throw money at BLM fast enough.
Yesterday hubby and I were out walking our greyhounds and ran into a neighbor. We had this same conversation with him about sports. We had no idea what his politics were but now we do and he’s right there with us. He says the only thing he still watches is golf. Hubby has never been a fan of pro sports and is now waiting to see what college sports will do this fall. If they start in with the kneeling crap and the political jerseys, he will abandon them too.

The sports boys have just about completely killed the goose who lays the golden eggs.
I doubt that pro sports will ever recover and that salaries will ever be anything close to what they reached in 2015 or so.
Stupid folks, playing stupid "stick and ball games".....have destroyed their own livelihood.
Zero sympathy. Never was a fan of stick and ball games much, any way. Much more into individual challenges, racing, hunting, aerobatic flying, etc. I guess I'm not so much of a team player.

Sports fans don’t watch Sports on TV, or spend big money to attend Sporting Events in person to be forced to hear and see politically based protests, most times upholding criminal actions against and defiance of legitimate law enforcement, as the pro team owners are about to find out pretty quickly.

The local station was playing old Buffalo Bills games as some kind of warmup or substitute for this Football season. News flash, they still lose the game. I enjoyed a few of the NFL documentaries about pre 2000 teams and championship seasons, but that just makes the current situation that much more irritating. Haven't seen a highlight or game since the PC nonsense started. The sport is done for many fans and it is perfect that a truly mediocre player was the start of the rot that brought it down. That and the concussions.

When the C-19 crisis is over, I would expect spectator attendance to drop noticeably, TV viewership to drop, and team gear and memorabilia sales to decline. Fans are/were attracted to athletic performance, not political demonstrations.
