Much of America has been in some phase or another of a lockdown since the middle of March. Most of us want to know when we can return to normal. But the officials who have cooped us up, shut down businesses, ruined personal finances, outlawed gatherings, and created an environment of fear won’t tell us when we’ll be free of their grip. To call our situation discouraging is to understate the case.
Numbers from the Centers for Disease Control’s most recently posted data set are reason for optimism, though. The chart below shows the most current figures available, through the

People will be debating for the next 50 years whether it was ever really a crisis.
The virus had a mortality rate of less than many flu epidemics we have suffered from.
If not for it being spread to Congregate living centers by Democrat politicians, the death
toll would have been that of a medium flu season.

It has been for a while - but Killer Cuomo is going to drag it out as long as he can to finish killing business and his tax base.
Remember 2 weeks to flatten the curve? That was 5 months ago.

It is over except for the fright. Unfortunately many will never get over the fright. This has been the biggest overreaction to a virus in history.

Depends on the state you live in- now here in Michigan- we have Gov Witchmer . She like putting sick COVID patients in with the elderly. Our Elderly are still on lockdown- no family can visit.. same at hospitals.. patients are alone.
Most fall sports are cancelled- except as my friend calls it - country club sports: golf, tennis, cross country, girls field hockey
Now, in Red States- face to face school- I don’t think mask wearing.. all day everyday.
We have so many crazy options in Michigan- all require masks all day...
So, is pandemic over? No. The fear generated by 24/7 has inculcated many kool aid drinkers.
This is no way diminishes the dastardly effects of the Chinese virus. It is a real virus with serious complications- but we have a flattened curve, expedited treatment plan (Red State better at it)..
as most viruses do, I expect another round of it- and mutations of virus.
Finally, after the long hours of classroom prep- I suspect Michigan will wind up with online learning the first semester- gut feeling.

The pandemic is mostly over but the panic isn't. There are still people who think the virus is everywhere, ready to kill them. Offices are still empty. I just looked at the statistics in my state and over half of the deaths were in nursing homes--among the elderly and people too sick to recuperate at home. All of the masks and social distancing in the world among the healthy would not have stopped these deaths. The shutdowns were a bad idea from the start. But hindsight is 20-20. And it is up to the states, not the federal government to lift the restrictions

Finally? The worst appears to have been over for a couple of months now!!! Only the blue state governors and mayors are keeping on life support with the hefty help of the media. The scary part is the number of folks who believe them and the 30 million Americans have died part.
I pray for and mourn with those who have lost loved ones, many with the assistance of some leftist governors. But it's time to put this away folks! It's time for the states to rise and shine and sing out the glory, glory!!!!
MAGA!!! KAG!!! TRUMPS 2020 AND BEYOND!!! Let's give the left the shellacking of it's life on Nov. 3 and open up this great country!!! Thank you PDT!!!

It was over in April at the latest. Everything has been about Power, not protecting citizens...

Louisiana is a red state that, unfortunately, has a blue state governor. Our resident statehouse idiot keeps extending his restrictions, 2 weeks at a time. It doesn't matter what the truth is, he uses the convoluted numbers the media is so good at manufacturing. With him, the virus will only end, miraculously, if Harris/Biden win in Nov. He's sticking to the dim playbook, and claims the Republican AG is playing politics when he says the restrictions are unconstitutional. I wish there was a way to recall him.

Gavin Newsome, who use to say he was “following the science,” without any news organization asking him to explain what it was, now refuses to a accept the CDC’s latest, more relaxed guidelines. “I don’t agree with the CDC. Full stop. Period,” he said on Wednesday. No reporter asked why. He is the great Father of California and father knows best. He also has the only scientific credentials needed. He is a Democrat.

I have walked out of some businesses because they require a mask. In some cases, they will offer me a free one, but if I didn't head for the door, there was no offer. Their choice and my choice. The curve has been flat for weeks, moved around the map a little like any flu, but FLAT.
We don't need designer masks - we need push back.

We will never be told it’s over. The government will simply stop putting so much emphasis on it, news stories will trickle, but we will all still be advised to be cautious. I agree with the above poster that said the fear instilled in our older generation will never go away. The damage has been done.

We need to stop focusing on Covid "cases" and focus exclusively on fatalities. At no time do we focus on "cases" of the flu and other diseases/viruses. We always base crisis response on fatalities. Let's get back to reality and do the same with Covid.

I'm still wondering how Hollyweird is going to handle this: Muzzle the actors' "beautiful" faces so that they can feel oh, so virtuous for wearing masks or keep the masks off so that they can satisfy their vanity.
Oh, my! Which vice will win?
