Goodyear clarified its policy on acceptable workplace attire on Thursday, one day after reports that one of its facilities in Topeka, Kansas had banned “Make America Great Again” and “Blue Lives Matter” apparel which prompted President Trump to call for a boycott of the Ohio-based company.
Goodyear Chairman and CEO Rich Kramer said the slide from a presentation at the Topeka plant “was not approved or distributed by Goodyear Corporate or anyone outside of that facility.” The company has clarified its policy to inform employees that they can “express support for law enforcement through apparel at Goodyear facilities," but are asked to "refrain" from wearing apparel of a political nature.

So as far as Goodyear is concerned Black Lives Matter and Blue Lives Matter are about the same thing. Wear what you want as long as it doesn't affect the bottom line.
Then again it's not the police looting Chicago's expensive stores, is it.
Goodyear, Up Yours.

TOO LATE. We're tired of companies toeing the line for the Leftists...you either LOVE AMERICA or you Love Leftists, it's that simple. Grow a set of Cahones and tell the Leftists to pound sand...OR you will lose so much money you will be UNEMPLOYED! Got IT? I, as an American and a Veteran am sick and tired of YOU COMMUNISTS trying to run down and take over MY Country. Either you get right in the head or get the hell out!

Some Goodyear stores are corporate owned, others are privately owned. The distinction should be made in the story, but in the end the corporate image is damaged when stuff like this happens.

If Goodyear doesn't support Make America Great Again, I don't want to support Goodyear. I don't care if a candidate uses that phrase, the idea that you can't wear something saying Make America Great Again is offputting.

"Nuance"; go tell it to Chick-Fil-A. If their leaders are too dense to grasp that Gay Pride and especially BLACK LIVES MATTER are overtly Marxist political movements, then I have no use for their tires. Banned from this household, no problem.

It's a bit like Chicago. They can loot the poor neighborhoods with impunity and a few people will get upset. Not those in the board room mind you, just middle management. So don't boycott Goodyear products, SELL YOUR STOCK. If they trash RICH Chicago the mayor (Lori with an I ) starts paying attention.

Here's a hint! Before you hire a company for "diversity training", find out what they are going to say!
Stop the PC nonsense as you have no idea what they are instructing.

i first was exposed to 'diversity training' in an MBA class, 1968. the guest speaker was employed as a trainer for GE, and it was not called diversity training,' but was instead training to help understand how to hire and help make black employees successful at GE.
The fundamental message was that individuals from different sub-cultures sometimes saw things differently in the workplace. the speaker's visual aid was a small prism, which was handed around to the students.
note that the organization did not have to bend to the will of the black employees, just stressed trying to understand them.
modern diversity training is like placing a foot on the neck of the organization, which will always practice implicit racism, no matter what they do. It is a never win situation for the organization, with perpetual dimness falling upon them..

I didn’t see anything in the article about the person who made and showed the slide being fired. Until that happens and an apology is issued we should still consider Goodyear and Kramer to be lying to us. Even if they do both, we should still buy from other companies.

Every workplace gets the choice to say what is acceptable attire and what is not in the office, plant or showroom. The president doesn't get a vote. As much as I like Donald Trump, no way can he dictate to me where I buy tires for my car. When our state offices began to say what we could wear and what we couldn't, I chose to keep on keeping on with my business attire. I know how quickly someone will be given an inch and take a mile or two. I will buy Goodyear, if the price suits me. I can't see putting American workers out of a job just because of some snotty politics.

#21, Michelin North America operates 20 plants and employs over 22,000 Americans in those plants.
Just shifting from one US plant to another if you switch from Goodyear to Michelin.

BlackRock, run by extreme leftist Larry Fink, owns the largest block of Goodyear stock.
I divested from several BlackRock funds earlier this year because of Fink's extreme politics.
I wonder if Fink is putting pressure on Goodyear management.

If Goodyear starts to see a slowdown in their customer base and tire sales after that political fiasco that went public apparently created by some manager in that particular tire factory in Kansas, you can bet that there is going to be a big Goodyear skid mark where that manager’s rear end hits the road as he is fired by Goodyear. Those corporations are really stupid to get involved in politics, as whatever side they take is going to cause them to loose customers who support the opposite political persuasion.
In this instance, chances are the Goodyear plant management calculated that the employees who were showing that they supported the Black Lives Matters (BLM) movement were more prone to create sabotage and violence inside the plant, and possibly injure other employees, than employees supporting the Blue Lives Matter concept.
That thinking probably came about from the rioting, arson, and looting that management observed the BLM create on the streets of some cities, and decided to take what they thought was the path to the least chance of violence and unrest in the plant by allowing BLM recognition, and shutting down the obviously more peaceful employees and concepts throughout that plant.

Goodyear not only lied but is hypocritical. BLM and LGBTQ are BOTH political. Those should NOT be acceptable if their policy is what they stated.

#21 the President wasn't dictating anything. He made a suggestion and then said the people can decide what to do. And yes, Goodyear said no political gear, yet they allow political BLM and LGBTQ. Is a few dollars saved that important?

My Dodge Nitro came with a set of Goodyear Wranglers. They lasted around 80K miles and I hated them for every single one of those miles. Worst tires I have ever ridden on. I couldn't wait for them to wear out. If I wasn't so cheap, I would have tossed them in the trash.

Since it's usually the Trump supporter who is set upon by thugs of a different political persuasion, perhaps the HR department was trying to be thoughtful and benevolent in eliminating the source of and instigator of tensions in the workplace. ...nah
If people haven't figured out yet that the Left is ALWAYS tyrannical and dictatorial and micromanages everything and everyone and ALWAYS fails at it, requiring greater and more extensive powers and more ruthless tactics, then they are abysmally ignorant (to put it nicely).
