The petty tyrants in your shower

When President Trump objected to federal regulations of shower heads and when the Department of Energy this week proposed to undo President Barack Obama’s shower rules, Trump’s critics decried the actions as petty and the subject matter as too picayune.
But Trump's critics are the ones with a question to answer: If the flow of a person’s shower head is too petty to be deregulated, then how was it momentous enough to be regulated in the first place?
The story of how Washington got into our showers started in 1992, but the real action took place in 2010.

Most of the showerheads I have purchased lately have an easily removable plastic washer that restricts the flow of water. Some manufacturers thoughtfully identify this nuisance in the installation instructions. For other showerheads, a well placed 1/4 drill bit will fix the problem.

Showerheads, washing machines, refrigerators - nothing works as well as they did when I was a kid. Cars and television sets have gotten better but other appliances are terrible. Thanks federal regulations

I had a flow restrictor in a faucet. I had to remove it to use the faucet properly. The government shouldn't be regulating appliances and requiring those yellow labels. The government has very stringent regulations on diesel engines. I haven't seen the numbers but I wouldn't be surprised that the exhaust treatment for a diesel engine costs more than the engine.

First they came for your toilet tank and you said nothing. Then they came for your shower head ...

This proves the axiom...'Everything the Government touches turns to crap!"
This is also what happens when bureaucrats are given power they should not have.
Every Bureaucratic policy/decision should stand for a vote of Congress, 2/3 required, and Presidential Signature. That will STOP this madness! Also review all past policies/decisions and have them stand for the same rigor. I would guess Trillions of dollars would be saved over 10 years!

I think the companies are getting sneaky with the Restrictors, We recently replaced our Bathroom Vanity Faucets. Hubby took the new Kohler Faucets and could not find the offensive little devil, so we have about half the flow of water we had with the old faucets! Shower Head was much easier to find!

Showers, light bulbs, toilets, cars, ladders, lawn mowers, washing machines, toys, gasoline containers. There is nothing that the Safety Nazis and Green Weenies will not take upon themselves to fix.

The worse appliance I have is a new washing machine it doesn't wash clothes it just soaks them then drains. If I had clothes like I wore when I worked in the oil field in the 70s and 80s I would be a grease monkey today with that bad fixture.
If the government is involved then prepare yourself for the screwups.

When my DH and I moved a few years back, we removed our high-flow shower heads and took them to the new house. We reinstalled the old crappy shower heads (that we'd thoughtfully saved) in the house we sold.

I found that the new faucets I put in an older house I purchased were flowing too little water to suit me. So, I took out the bubbler which makes a foamy flow, but then the flow was dribbly, had no force and was poorly directed.
Looking at Home Depot, I found a replacement bubbler nozzle by the same company, rated for 5 GPM. It cost a few dollars and replaced the original perfectly.
Damn these leftist busybodies. Leave us ALONE!

I also don't like the low flow bathroom fixtures. Thank you Pres. Trump for considering doing something about this.
An above poster mentioned tv's getting better, but it really irks me that it takes a good 10 seconds to come on. More of the energy saving nonsense, I presume.

#12 "TV Sets" are not just display devices, they are all computers and depending on the amount of "Smart" have to "boot up" and if streaming have to "Log in"
And don't get me started on "ATSC 3.0" it's not even "Broadcast" anymore it's a web browser with a lousy user interface!

I'll bet none of the shower rules are in effect in any of obama's mansions. I'm pretty sure those mansions all belong to the American taxpayers.
