The FBI was told Carter Page was a U.S. intelligence agency source months before the agency began keeping that information from the secret court that authorized spying on him and nearly a full year before the agency altered documents to claim otherwise.
Federal charging documents against Kevin Clinesmith, the top FBI attorney who was expected to plead guilty today to altering documents, show that the FBI withheld in three separate spying applications the fact that Page had served as an “operational contact” who helped an agency believed to be the CIA investigate suspected Russian intelligence figures for five years. For the fourth application, the agency didn’t just hide that fact,

You know I tire very easily of comments like above post. I just read that an appeals court ruled that Hillary Clinton would not have to testify about her email server. To above poster, you do understand that Barr and Durham could have every "i" dotted and "t" crossed and some type of glitch would be found. Look at the Michael Flynn situation. I think it is significant for what Barr and Durham have been able to do. Kevin Clinesmith pleaded guilty. Says a lot for me.

The real story here is that Adam Goldman of the NY Times lied and falsely reported news and received a Pulitzer. He and the Times continue to be read by morons and some still believe receiving a Pulitzer means something.

Unless this is followed by actions against people several levels higher and in other departments this is not only useless but damaging. Has there been an agreement between Messrs. Barr/Dunham and the Deep State about who to sacrifice and when?

Perhaps Barr is taking a shot at one of the little guys in hopes of getting a conviction that will open the door for other cases, but this guy is just a small part in the machinery of the spying operation.
The big guy will never be sen in court and we all know it.
The spying operation came directly out of the WH with the cooperation of the Deep State FBI.
We know it and Barr knows it.

His lawyer is trying to say “it was a mistake” - like it was a clerical error! Amazing. Treason and sedition are not mistakes - they are deliberate acts by someone who supported Hillary and cried when she lost. An FBI lawyer cried when Hillary lost - think about that!!! Snowflake alert.

The cynicism evident in some posts has been caused by the length of this investigation and a prior history of individuals like Lois Lerner who have retired with full benefits and pension in tact after it was revealed that she worked to block tax exemption status from conservative Tea Party groups for political reasons. Clearly, that was an instance where the individual should have been prosecuted and yet, she was not. Americans are fed up with the corruption that seems to be systemic in our government agencies. We watch as the political class seems to be untouchable especially democrats and that is wearing very thin. It appears that out government is so broken that instead of having faith in the justice department’s ability or more accurately the department’s will to prosecute the guilty, we find ourselves praying that after all that has been revealed that this seditious cabal will ever face justice. The FBI and DOJ have done this to themselves. They have so disappointed the American people that most of us believe that this investigation will be no different. Little will come of it. Those responsible for this unprecedented conspiracy to commit sedition will be deemed too big to prosecute. God help us if that is the case. The Republic is mired in lawlessness as we watch city after city burn and their leaders do nothing to stop the violence. A complete breakdown of law and order is coming to our television screens nightly. How are we to have any confidence in the justice department when the AG promises retribution for governors who overstep their power, but it never comes? Americans more than ever in our history need to see that our government can police itself. If they fail at the basic principle of equality under the law and no one is above the law, we are finished. Americans will know without a doubt that there is a two tiered system of justice, one for the ruling class and one for the country class.

I am 100% with #2 on this one. Just a little tired of hearing all the slams on Barr. If there are any indictments the cases will have to be brought to a DC court. Barr's evidence has to be an absolutely indisputable slam dunk in order to get a conviction there. Please give the guy a chance. I believe him to be a good man with a very tough job. But the cry babies want it all now.

Well, Charles Manson conspired to murder a ton of people then he lied about it, so set him free. He's done the time for his crime of lying about it. Forget the MUCH bigger crime of purposely violating Page's Fourth Amendment rights to commit the crime of illegally spying on Page and the Trump campaign, no, Clinesmith lied about whether or not he FREAKING did it. I hope the FBI agents who caused the miscarriage of George Papadopoulos' wife don't "lie" about how they put her through her illegal inquisition and high fived each other when she miscarriaged. You know, because those were the good and decent, rank and file FBI agents, pure as the wind driven snow.
Join the FBI. You can commit any crime you want by abusing your oath of office and your law enforcement status but just don't lie about doing it. YIPPEEE!!!! That's the party country I want to live in!

Oh , don't worry about Clinesmith being punished. We'll soon see footage of the afternoon he had to pick up roadside litter with a sharp stick and a bag slung over his shoulder.

Lawyers are officers of the court and have a duty to correct any misinformation they have provided any court. So Mueller and Weissman knew for 3 years that the FISA application were bogus, that the Russian investigation was a hoax, but did not inform the court. When are Mueller and Weissman going to be held accountable, their law licenses revoked?

So far, the lowest level clerk in the seditious Russiagate scheme is the only one that has been charged. I do not doubt for a minute that he was following orders from those above him. A lot more than the littlest Indian needs to be charged and prosecuted.

What’s very troubling is that the FBI appears able to begin a second smear campaign against Trump in 2020 followed by an overthrown attemptf Trump is re-elected. Except for this one count guilty plea 3+ years after a document was doctored to undermine Carter Page’s loyalty, nothi;g has changed to prevent a reoccurrence. Biden and the DNC can still hire a foreign agent to concoct a smear Dossier without consequence. The FBI can launch a counter intelligence operation on Trump without evidence and without informing Congress. And the FISA warrant court will rubber stamp its approval of whatever the FBI submit. Plus the NY TIMES will publish any FBI leak as long as Ias it harms Trump. And there will be little to no consequence.

What did Comey know and when did he know it? Why didn't Brennan step in to save Page, since he clearly had to know. And let's not forget "clap-on" Clapper, who also would have been briefed about a CIA asset being put into the cross-hairs of the FBI. Clinesmith should know many of those answers.

What happened to Clinesmith is exactly what we want. I fail to see what's there to cry about. Anyone can see the followups:
1. Why did you do that?
2. Who told you to do that?
3. Who knew you did that? (everyone knew, his lawyer claims)
This is not a process crime. It is a huge domino.

You have to realize that if Barr loses just one case in this investigation for some trivial mistake everything is over. Once they win or prosecute just one and cut a deal the house of treasonous cards will fall but patience and caution is a virtue.

Re: #1. Once I learned, before this specific news, Clinesmith's name mentioned in the same sentence(s) with Strzok, I did not relegate him to a cadre of low level clerks. Our compatriots Durham and Bart have peeled a substantial layer of the epidermis off the onion here. The mere fact that his role in this is referenced in a Page 13 footnote of the Mueller report is enough evidence for me that I verily sit on the edge of my sofa awaiting the next shoe, which I am now convinced will drop.

How many Americans do you think actually know the name Clinesmith or have been following this? I'm not saying SHOULD know about it---I'm saying DO know about it.
Barr deserves credit for his hard work on this matter, but good luck if you think it's going to have any effect on most Americans. It's nearly as pointless as pushing the WALK button over and over again hoping that somehow the traffic light will change faster.

Yes, tired of posts like #1's.
Carter Page was the first person spied on, and with the admission the FBI was told by the CIA that Page was an operational asset, and they then went ahead with the spying operation is significant.
Fruit of the Poison tree type significant when you realize they used Carter Page to start the whole scheme, and not only outed him as a CIA asset, but repeatedly lied to the Courts, repeatedly for their FISA warrants.
So, all of those claims of the Steele document being the key, was all bull Schiff.
The FBI was told by the CIA he was an operational asset, thus, they all KNEW prior to launching their operation, the Mueller investigation, the House intelligence hearings, EVERYTHING.

Clinesmith should spend about 5 years in prison. And as the prosecutions move up the ladder, he damned well better by telling exactly who ordered him to do this.

The last two paragraphs of Mollie Hemingway's article are a stinging indictment of the New York Times!
This research is excellent, but it is playing to the enemy's strengths, in that it allows the media to minimize the legal details, and to focus euphemistically on the misdeeds of the one charged individual, to imply that this means there was no conspiracy.
No, the conspiracy that was enabled by this "mistake" was huge, and allowed the FBI to intentionally violate the civil rights of hundreds of U S Citizens who were duly elected and/or appointed and acting in good faith to protect the interests of the United States, as they were sworn to do.
THAT is the real scope of this crime, and that is the story that needs to be explained to the public, who do not in the main understand the enormous power that can be unleashed by our surveillance tools! I have even heard the excuse that Page was spied on only after his association with the Trump campaign, which of course ignores the power of our tools to go back in time to previous messages and calls. Furthermore, with the "two-hop" rule, the actual relationship of the target Page to the REAL target, Trump, is almost irrelevant! This allowed the corrupt FBI total access the every communication from every member of the campaign!

My first instinct was ... great... but then I looked at this young lawyer's face and said... someone had to be thrown under the bus....I personally think DC is so corrupt that the truth will surface after these dudes are all gone... just as Americans never believed the Warren Report about President Kennedy's assassination and will never get the whole story.....so it will be with hillary/gate...

I have to join the skeptical crowd in this discussion. We have had 24 years of progressive judicial packing. Clinton, Bush, Obama appointees at every level of Justice in the country ( yes, W was so intent on demonstrating he was non partisan he put a lot of dims into important positions)
I have little doubt that Judges, AGs, DAs, FBI, CIA , NSA...all have something to hide and the dims know what it is. Maxine told us 0 has a database ...Blackmail is the currency in the swamp
