For Joe Biden, life is looking pretty sweet right now. After stumbling badly in the first three Democratic-primary contests, he mounted arguably the fastest and most surprising comeback in U.S. political history. He’s ahead in both national and swing-state polling against Trump. Most of the media are offering hosannas for his selection of Kamala Harris.
Next week, Joe Biden will formally accept the Democratic nomination, up against a president who has a self-destructive streak wider and deeper than the Mississippi River.
For Biden, these days may be as good as it gets. As November approaches, he will have a tougher time campaigning almost entirely via Zoom

Well, Mr. Jim Geraghty, if governors had taken President Donald Trump seriously on January 31, they would have put in place measures to prevent the spread of the virus. They would have implemented stringent policies for nursing homes, hospitals, doctor's offices etc. Nope, we know that didn't happen because Democrats were interested in impeachment. As soon as they got wind of the travel ban to China, Joe Biden and company were calling President Trump names and putting together a bill to reverse the travel ban.

I cannot bear to look at a picture of Joe Biden. I will never listen to anything Biden says. The man is an idiot, and he is done. Biden has no intelligence, no energy. I would rather leave the office vacant.

Who is Jim Geraghty, and why does his opinion merit publication?

Liberal Lunatic Longings.
Remember, so far as they're concerned, Trump will NEVER win THEIR vote.
And that's all that matters.

The Trump media team will cover the covid response with one graphic showing that HALF of covid deaths came from two states: NY + NJ. Voters can empower those to states to continue to dominate the country or they can reelect Donald J Trump.
Geraghty's assumption of Biden's win as a likely outcome is disturbing and should be a call to action, not a "new normal" to accept.
I don't wanna hear a peep from Geraghty or anyone else mentioning a biden win without reminding that it would mean the dissolution of the Union.

Biden won the nomination because he was seen by the Party bosses as more centrist and able to win the election. But he sold his political soul to those same Sanders/AOC socialists in order to secure their support. He won't be able to escape that taint however much he tries. And choosing Harris as his running mate only solidifies that leftward about-face.

This clown/writer obviously has an aversion to the truth. It's usually known as wishful thinking combined with a healthy dose of delusion.

Geraghty is a National Review Never Trumper as evidenced by "a president who has a self-destructive streak wider and deeper than the Mississippi River". Geraghty is looking in the Never Trumper mirror and describing himself and his brethren.
"He’s ahead in both national and swing-state polling against Trump." While the polls are meaningless, this assessment is no longer true. Trump has gained strength and is ahead in some swing states.
"his (Biden's) chances of winning are about the same as Hillary Clinton's" Yet, Gropey Joe has #MeToo problems. Senile Septuagenarian Joe has no appeal to youth. BO's Joe was a partner in BO's economic malaise. You're Not Black Joe can't seem to go a week without insulting Blacks. Hispanics are on the edge of giving majority support to Trump. Joe's party is fragmented in a civil war between establishment and Leftists. Enthusiasm for Joe is running around swallowing goldfish and washing them down with fish bowl water level. How does the decline in almost every segment of dem support add up to "about the same" as Hillary. Then there is the inconvenient fact that Hillary lost.
There is also the reality that Trump and Pence have solid Republican support with great enthusiasm. They also have a far better and already functional voter outreach organization than the dems.
Then we get into the certainty of Joe getting slaughtered in debates. And Come On Man, his gaffees will almost certainly continue. Also, if Durham ever gets to the finish line, it is likely that Biden will be tainted for participation in BO's scandalous management of spying and dirty dealing against the Trump campaign, transition, and beyond.
I don't think that Geraghty needs to worry about the problems that Biden would face after winning the election. Biden will never see the inside of the Oval Office again.

I don’t get it. National Review, along with most other previously conservative sources, can’t say anything about President Trump without some stinking backhanded criticism of his manner, self defense and sense of humor. They may as well be “liberals”, the inappropriate word democrats misidentify themselves by. Other than V.D. Hanson, trying to read N.R. is like trying to enjoy a case of poison ivy.

In ballistics, a specialized branch of physics, the 'apex' is the top of the trajectory of an object launched upward (and usually outward, too), It is the highest point reached. After that, gravity has overcome the initial upward kinetic energy and now gravity is relentlessly accelerating the object downward. Ever faster downward, always accelerating, second after second until impact.
I hope it is just like that with Senile Joe and the partner in his Idiot Adventure, Old Camel Face.
