The Mainstream Media Is at the Point of No Return

A recent landmark poll of 20,000 citizens undertaken by the Knight Foundation and Gallup found that Americans’ hope for and trust in an objective media is all but lost. They see not only an ever-growing partisanship in news reporting but a determination by the mainstream media to push a political agenda instead of honestly disseminating the news. While generic faith in the media has been gradually declining over recent decades, the precipitous drop in trust and questions about what motivates the mainstream media can be traced to June 2015 and Donald Trump’s entry into the presidential sweepstakes.

2015? BS. Its been a lot longer than that. A pollster called me in the early 90's wanting to know which network/anchor I trusted the most. The answer was I didnt trust any at all. That didnt fit their narrative and there was no block to check for that so I'm sure my responses were thrown away.

It would seem to me that it would be simple for a lawyer to sue the entire MSM for in kind campaign contributions to the DNC for at least the past twenty years, certainly the past four. However, I do hope the mistrust in media is from non-fidiot voters and not the Marxists who believe the media supports Trump and also believe in purple unicorns. There is just too damned much strong delusion in this country or we wouldn't be wearing face diapers for a non-existent enemy (and I had the Rona, over 65 with high BP and heart disease to boot) we surrendered to without question.

The HUGE Blaring Bright Light arrived to the world over 30 years ago, and that was the arrival of Rush Limbaugh. I was young and heard him for the first time. He opened my eyes, spoke the truth and to me proved how wrong the media actually was. I haven't trusted the media since...

The left media censors, just like the techies, and it withholds certain news from the people. It can even be sinful, if there were any moral and ethical people involved. But there aren't any moral and ethical people in the left media.

The author makes a good point. Before they became victims of TDS, most of the media had lines which they would not cross. A story had to pass a certain level of credibility before they would report on it. They were heavily biased, but if a story had no credibility, they would ignore it, or hold it up for ridicule. Then came Donald Trump and they reported the story about him hiring hookers to pee on a bed which Obama had slept in, despite the fact that the story contradicted what they knew about Donald Trump and being part of a dossier that contained many other allegations about him that were not credible on their face.
When Buzzfeed published the entire dossier, the rest of the news media was livid because it revealed how ridiculous they were for reporting anything from it.

"At the point of no return"? Sorry, they are way past it and are about to lap it a second time. They're now openly biased and absurdly so. Even Pravda and Izvestia now seem to have been semi-professional compared to these clowns and open propagandists.

The MSM has become the single greatest threat to our democratic republic. More so than any outside nation or organization. As is now, MSM allied with the public school system, higher education, the social networks, and the "deep state", is even more dangerous.

For too many elections - television networks and msm elected our Presidents - Carter, Clinton, Obama. They could control what we learned about a candidate because they held all the cards. Such a power trip. Then along comes Trump who is running against Hillary who they know will win because they think they still hold all the cards. Trump gets all kinds of air time because he knows how to get an audience, but he also talked about things people cared about.. Trump won - Hillary lost. They do not hold all the cards anymore and it is making them very unhappy.
Of course, the msm monopoly is being replaced by the techno tyrants, and we should be so aware. I heard someone say this morning that we should take the smart phones away from the kids. They don't need them. We can move too easily from one generational group think to another one.

We keep hearing that we are the minority and that the vast majority of Americans are passionate leftists itching to join Antifa or BLM. Yet Tucker Carlson and Hannity are the most watched cable news programs in the country. There’s your answer.

#2, I have to agree! While on the verge of winning the Vietnam war, I’ll never forget watching that turncoat Cronkite standing in the street of some Vietnamese village wearing a helmet and flak jacket saying “ it is the opinion of this reporter that this war is lost.” Traitor. Can you imagine a reporter saying something like that during WWII? He would have been shot on the spot

The media has been reduced to attention-grabbing sound bites, click-bait headlines and shouting for attention to pull ratings from the same type of operation standing next to them. It has gotten to the point where they are all being tuned out. Even though Fox has the top rating, there are times when I shoot them with the OFF button as well. News is a concept of the pre-Internet past.

Talk of "the media" makes us imagine that there really is such a thing. But in truth it's like talking about the barren woman's son. What we actually have, with the exception of Fox, is a propaganda machine for the Democrat party. As planetgeo says, even Pravda in its Soviet glory days was not as bad.
They are not merely "biased," they don't only "spin," -- they outright lie and suppress. Over and over. It is what they do. If a piece of truth gets through their propaganda machine, squashed and ripped, it's purely an accident, and a blinking red light that their machine needs repair.
Are there lower, more contemptible creatures than Brian Williams, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Brian Stelter? Yes, but you need to enter the netherworlds to find them.

"it will be nearly impossible for the mainstream media to ever recapture the faith and trust of the American people"
All the media's opinions are coming from an organization that is convinced of their superiority and willing to do enormous amounts of damage and even self destruct to get revenge against their enemy. A movie was made about this. It's called "The Wrath of Kahn".
Hatred and the associated TDS will do that to you. Note that media represent 1/100 of 1% of people in the US yet presume to tell the rest of us what to do. That's like 1 person in a town of 10,000 telling the town how things MUST be. Imagine the arrogance required to have that viewpoint, "I am entitled to tell all of you what to do.".
One of the problems for media is that they are going the way of the buggy whip and don't realize it. They don't have a unique product. ANYONE can report events and make comments on them. We are no longer held hostage by the town newspaper or even the national news to get information. Making themselves hatefully obsessed, untrustworthy, and unlikeable is only speeding the process.

I know when I had a clue how bad the media was in 1969. I returned home from Vietnam to hear Walter Cronkite with the dupe Dan Rather tell the public lies about the conflict. We didn't start receiving real news until the mid-90s with the internet and conservative talk radio. It has taken us 30 years to unravel the lying media. The atomic bomb that was dropped on them was President Donald Trump in 2016.

The msm passed the point of no return in the 1960s when characters such as Walter Cronkite openly sought surrender for America in Vietnam. Several other individuals such as Hanoi Jane should have been dispatched in front of a firing squad for what they did to this country.

The mainstream media has become unwatchable. That includes Fox. Watched them for years, but saw how they turned on Trump because he was an outsider and had an agenda different from the one behind the media.
They don't report the news. They push propaganda. They lie. They push agendas. Who are they protecting? its certainly not the general public.
The cable TV news is off where I'm at. Point of no return? They are well pass that point. With the internet, I don't need cable TV news.

In 1960, Richard Nixon graciously conceded rather than putting the country through a Presidential election recount when the Dems not only got the dead to vote in Illinois and Texas, but got them to vote in alphabetical order. Two years later, he succumbed to a barrage of negative media coverage and lost the California governor's race. He decided to (temporarily) retire from politics and directly addressed the MSM, saying "Now you won't have Nixon to kick around anymore." At the time, I thought he was being paranoid. I have long since realized the truth. The MSM is part and parcel of the Democrat Party.

My negative news cycle started with PBS/NPR and then moved onto discus with CNN during the first Iraq war. Found Fox news but then cut the cable cord. Now I don't travel much anymore so don't have to tolerate the airport news. All news in online for me.
I'm sure my story is similar to millions of people. We get the big pictures on the Government Media/MSM/DNC Media propaganda and have walked away.
PBS dumping Louise Rukeyser because he was a capitalist was the beginning of me being woke.

Who needs enemies like China and Russia when we have the MSM? Propaganda, election interference, witness tampering, funding of Marxist anarchists. The media has now elevated communist China as a more desirable government, compared to the U.S.!
The media is truly deranged. They received a defective education, or choose to ignore, what happened to people and organizations that sided with Marxists in the past. If it was up to the media, history would repeat itself, with the media as a fatality.

Just this morning I watched a "doctor" on the Lamestream propaganda media tell us that they don't really know much about how viruses are spread, and how much children contribute to it. Just about any parent with a child in a public school could tell him. It's been a century since the flu pandemic of 1917. How many studies do you think there have been about how viruses spread? It's the same with any new breakthroughs in technology. Oh... we don't really know. We have no new technologies.
All you have to do is watch an hour of television, with most of the commercials selling one drug or another, to see who the masters of the media are. Insurance companies, health care, big pharma, car makers... they pay big bucks to the media for advertising, and the media does what they are told.

American media has always been pro-communist.
They loved reading Lenin, Marx and Trotsky.
In 1968, Walter Cronkite told LBJ that the Vietnam War was lost.
LBJ was an idiot and he believed him.
Later, millions died in communist re-education camps and Teddy Kennedy, LBJ and Walter Cronkite never said a word.

Randolph Hearst ring a bell? How about Captain Kangaroo turning into a huckster mid performance? That is the most basic form of the 'expert' selling something. Up there with former government officials claiming to be unbiased TV talking heads. The lying of the media is as old as the media, the problem today is there are more of them than ever and they are really good at faking sincerity. That and the fact that we have more stupid and willfully stupid people than ever in history. The problem isn't the big lie that is absurd with even a moment's reflection, the problem is the number of emotionally unhinged slobs who believe it as fact. They twist a slimy quote carefully preserved by the punk billy bush and turn it into an act that never happened and then they base their world view on feigned repulsion. IF there was a real political party who actively pushed back against rat corruption of all things American, they would force 'news' media to abide by the constitutional right of a free press to attempt to be unbiased, instead of the neocommunist liars most of them are.

#4- In absolute agreement. Without question, Rush Limbaugh has been using his “talent on loan from God” for every facet of freedom that has blessed America and American citizens. His patriotism was aptly recognized with President Trump’s awarding Rush Hudson Limbaugh III the Presidential Medal of Freedom on February 4, 2020.

#4--I most heartily agree!
I listen to Rush and Sean on a radio station in the NYC area. While their programming during the day is great, their news is "unlistenable"! I turn it off every half hour.
The other day, the "reporter" said that Trump was "falsely and without evidence" is claiming that mail-in voting and ballot harvesting would lead to voter fraud! Huh?!
Silly me, I thought voter fraud, and especially the all-important dead vote, were hallmarks of the dems.
I screamed at her then turned off the rest of the newscast.
