It pains the New York Times to admit it, but this Summer, Fox News is dominating prime time television:
In June and July, Fox News was the highest-rated television channel in the prime-time hours of 8 to 11 p.m. Not just on cable. Not just among news networks. All of television. The average live Fox News viewership in those hours outstripped cable rivals like CNN, MSNBC and ESPN, as well as the broadcast networks ABC, CBS and NBC, according to Nielsen.

Fox isn't the prize in the box of Cracker Jacks but it is far better than all the others. If you are looking for truth and reason, you have a better chance of tripping across it at Fox than almost anywhere else. The fact that you cannot COUNT on the truth, ANYWHERE, is a media tragedy and a danger to our freedoms. Trump's TWEETS, for God's sake, are the closest we can get, although Trump's enthusiasm sometimes makes those waters a bit muddy to navigate.
My wife watches the ABC nightly news and I will usually catch the opening few minutes as we are finishing up washing the dinner dishes. Once and a while it is almost palitable. Most of the time the distortions, lies, and omissions are breathtaking. It's slick. If I didn't know the REAL news, backed up by actual recordings and transcripts of what happened, I could easily be fooled. ABC may not tell be telling the truth but they are concerned about their reputations so they avoid the type of screed that is on CNN and MSNBC.

NBC always opens its newscasts with “breaking news”, like “extra, read all about it”. Then It devolves into numbers without comment ( coronavirus cases increasing, more death- does that mean one more, or Billions?) Then the random interview of a “professional” who says bad things, mostly about what the States should have done but blame the Federal government.
The sub-context is “It’s all Trump’s fault”. That phrase can be tacked on to every story (e.g., hurricane, downgraded to worst tropical storm in a century, is causing rain to fall. All Trump’s fault.)

I watch Lou Dobbs, then Tucker. I can't stand Hannity and jump over to Spicer and CO. at Newsmax (Spicer is well connected, he has great guests and he lets them talk without interruption, unlike Mr. Mixed Martial Arts, who continues on with his tired old retread guests, Rove, Miss Lindsey, Geraldo, etc.
Last week must have been, "help sell Hannity's book week", everywhere I turned last week, somebody was interviewing Hannity about Hannity, Bongino, Spicer, get a free book for signing up for Fox Nation. Yikes, I was trying to get a way from the guy. I finish out the night with Laura and that's about all I can take for a day!!

Joh, while I am glad to hear this, Fox News ain't what it used to be since the Murdochs started running it. We opted for One America some time ago, anyway.

I stopped watching Fox News, but I hear their hourly radio updates on talk radio. They do as much to spread the lies and fear as any CNN liar.

You probably won't want to hear this, but I think it's true.
BOTH sides report cherry-picked news because BOTH sides have an agenda. ALL of the news is available to both sides, yet each side INTENTIONALLY decides which events to cover and which to OMIT. If you listened to BOTH sides (which I sometimes do), you would think we are living on 2 completely different planets. Particularly disturbing is the distorted news we hear on the MSM because they somehow believe the role of journalists is to represent the voice of people who have little or no voice. After 24/7 repetition, minority opinion begins to sound like majority opinion and soon we believe minority issues such as LBGTQ are the norm and WE are the culprits.
I like the old school where Journalism 101 taught aspiring reporters to present the who, what, where, and when of an event and trust that your readers or viewers can and SHOULD draw their own conclusions.
Silly me.

I'm with #7. I turned off all this rubbish years ago, and don't miss it. It's all propaganda these days, and news is simply talking heads or voice overs to visuals designed to rile. What's the truth anymore? CNBC? MSNBC? The big broadcast nets? Fox? It's all bullstuff.

I prefer One America News Network over Fox. FNC lost me when Bill O’Reilly had his show, and the others started using his tactics.

Fox's strength is not so much that it's tilted toward the right but rather that it reports things which the LSM suppress. You simply do not receive the totality of the news on the other networks. Rather, you get sins of both commission and omission. Fox's weakness is that it seeks balance by including feeble, rote, utterly predictable comments from nonentities like Donna Brazile and Juan Williams. Their 'contributions' are a waste of air time. My fear is that the younger Murdochs are going to push Fox farther to the left. Bret Baier is already heading there. Just one example: the constant harping on the Coronavirus story plays into the hands of the democrats who are trying to make the virus look like the bubonic plague. The democrats are not serious people; they are power-hungry hacks. If you don't believe that, watch the Barr hearings again, if you can stand to do so. Their machinations deserve the full-throated responses of a Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld, et al. When you give chronic liars and machers like Pelosi a platform (as Chris Wallace, e.g., does) you are simply wasting air time.

And Paul Ryan has moved Fox far to the left from where they used to be. Much more anti-Trump than in the past, but still better than any of the other alphabet Fake News Enemedia.

Never miss Tucker. He is one of the most fearless men in America. If Republicans had half his spine we'd be far better off!

I stopped watching Fox. Too many fascist/communists. Wallace, Cavuto, Harf-Barf, Williams, and acting as a platform for so many far-left haters like Areu and others.

I will never stop saying this
We need our own networks
They have abc nbc cbs
And pbs and hbo and sho
All radical left democrat talking points
Where’s the republican channels?
There aren’t any
Fox was exciting back in ‘04 ‘05 ‘06
Then it got to be too much for me
I can’t stand ego clown hannity
Or Wallace or cavities
Or those blond bimbos at 7, 10 and 11
Tucker vacillates
Just when you like him he does a left turn and changes the narrative in a typical liberal manner
I wouldn’t trust any of them as friends
TV is a vast wasteland of crap now
We prefer this fine salon
And Pro-Trump news every morning
Loved the Fort Collins neighborhood BEAT-DOWN of Antifa yesterday
You’ll never see that on any network
We need our own tv networks of news
Come on man!

"Where else would we get all the facts?"
I get more facts in an hour of perusing the articles AND COMMENTS on Lucianne.com, Free Republic, and Conservative Treehouse for an hour, than I'd get watching Fox News all day and night..

I don't mind Juan Williams so much. He's a far lefty, but he stays reasonably calm and mild about it. He gives the conservatives something to bounce off of and counter Juan's liberal assertions about what Juan things "the American people want." I fast forward through anything Donna Brazile has to say. I grow increasingly weary of Chris Wallace whose every question is a "gotcha" question, then he doesn't give his conservative guests time to answer before he "but-but-but" interrupts them. He behaves similarly with lefty guests, but interrupts them much less and is about 70% less obnoxious. I fumed when Wallace interviewed Trump and told the President that "But-but-but, that's incorrect. Vice President Biden never said he wanted to defund the police." That was a lie. Biden said he wanted more police budget monies diverted to inner-city social programs. That's defunding.

Unfortunately the days of Fox News providing fair and balanced news are long gone. They may be a little better then the alphabet stations and the left-wing cable channels, but they are no longer unbiased and truthful.
