President Donald Trump issued four executive orders extending relief during the coronavirus pandemic after Democrats in Congress refused to compromise with the White House to pass a relief bill. Trump has almost certainly exceeded his authority with these orders, and Democrats plan to challenge them in court. Yet by signing these orders, the president called their bluff. Democrats refused to work with him to secure coronavirus relief, planning to make Trump look heartless. In response, the president called their bluff, and now Democrats have to fight against the relief Americans need.

One reason I loved this move by our President was, it came on the heels of his, “I’ll see you in a couple of days.”
Lulled into the idea of a nice summer weekend, the media/Dems were blindsided by this Friday evening “news dump!”
Out-maneuvered once again, and scrambled to Bedminister, some third rate reporter was right on top of his game and complained about the lack of mask wearing from some of the President’s invited guests.
Our President’s response was spot on and classy. That it pulled their chain was delicious!

It also puts a limiter on the deep staters in his own party. It would look very bad for them, if they either joined the Dems, or tried to slip their own pork into the final legislation.

Why are so few elected Republicans saying almost nothing about the massive amounts of PORK the Democrats are trying to stuff into the work-in-progress Bill?!

It's about time!
While I agree with the premise that he should not be circumventing the legislative process, Trump does not have a legislature to deal with. He has a bunch of petty cry babies stamping their feet. The only thing they are concerned with is investigating him. They have done nothing for the American people for 2 years!

We are becoming accustomed to these moves of pure genius. Although the virus has directly affected far less than one percent of the population, the democrats have focused their fear and propaganda campaign on the entire country. Trump's order now affects the vast majority who have been scared, locked down and forced to endure masks and severe, unfair restrictions. The democrats, as usual, look like morons. Four more years!

Trump has not exceeded his authority by doing this. He's the President. Besides there are time limits and restrictions on these executive orders. They expire at the end of the year. Think Obozo would have put expiration dates on any of his executive orders?

Politicians of both stripes always do their dirty work by calculating how much time they have until the public forgets about their dirty work. You’re running out of time, Chompers.

"Democrats have proven particularly feckless" "Pelosi has played extremely stupid games" DUH! Stupid and arrogant people tend to do that.
"they run counter to the spirit of our system ... National Review editor Rich Lowry tweeted" The author seems to share his views. It's a Never Trumper whine. While they worry about the "system" in the face of a corrupt and deceitful dem party, something it is almost impossible to deal with, the American People suffer. Sure, it would be better to achieve this through legislation but that is impossible. Instead, Trump has been creative, DONE SOMETHING instead of just whining about it, and exposed and put pressure on the dems arrogance. I doubt they will back down at this point but they are exposed for the judgement of the voters in November.

God bless our caring and brave President.
He is not only dealing with the evil and totally without honor Democrats but also House and Senate “leadership” on our side that is totally without creativity and/courage. He realized, once again, he has to take care of business himself!!
His pressers this weekend with group of supporters cheering him on also blindsided the snooty press. :)

Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Pretty cool. I think I owe a hat tip to Paul Begala.
This moves also makes the Dems oppose the policy of making law by executive fiat. And to think that just days ago they were cheering the Supreme Court ruling on Obama's DACA order.

Trump makes a "Check" move in 3D political chess, and the Dems are trying to get their first 'King' in the checkers game that they are playing. And Biden is never going to be a king.
