There have been more shootings so far this year in New York City than in all of 2019. A 24-year-old man who walked bleeding into Lincoln Hospital in The Bronx on Saturday night has pushed the city’s total number of shootings this year to 777 — topping the 776 recorded in all of last year, NYPD data compiled by The Post reveals. And it’s only the first days of August, with five more months before the year is over. “It only gets worse from here,” warned Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant and an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

I'm surprised they're tracking these numbers separately from the Kung Flu. After all, without the Covid Lock-down of our entire economy the shootings would be a more normal rate. Does everyone entering a hospital get tested? It would be interesting to see the infection rate among the disenfranchised, discriminated and dissed roaming freely. There must some correlation between minority groups being targeted by The Virus and also targeted by Guns. Someone call a social worker and we can do a study!

Warren Wilhelm has asked his supporters to do some reverse shootings - - so that the number gets down to where it was last year. Of course - - a reverse shooting is logically impossible - - but that has never stopped a leftist proposal before.

Hard to ignore that most of the victims are bLACK. (all are in the article) And while their lives matter as much as anyone's, no peaceful protestors are demonstrating about the violence that befell them. Better to wait until a cop is forced to shoot an attacker. Isn't that how it works?

I left Chicago years ago when obama was elected ...with 800,000 other taxpayers... the media kept asking why this flight out of the city....we knew what was coming... obama's henchman rahm was appointed by the DNC to CONTROL it's citizens....as mayor he drove citizens like a plantation overseer with impossible taxes.... corrupt politicians chaired bank boards and Jesse jackson got his payoff for keeping blacks on the plantation... now NYC has an equivalent situation with their mayor ....and citizens are fleeing just as we did....

Eventually, you need to kick your loser kid out of your basement, cut-off his allowance, and introduce him to the harsh realities of the real world. In the case of our European allies, particularly the insufferable Germans, that time was about 20 years ago. Well, Donald Trump just announced we will be pulling out 12,000 troops of the 36,000 still deployed there – think of the good they could do for America deployed in Portland! – and the krauts and the Establishment are livid. Democratic vice-presidential hopefuls sprinted for the finish Sunday as the 2020 veepstakes entered the home stretch in what could be the most crucial running-mate selection since World War II. Not since 1944, when an ailing President Franklin Delano Roosevelt dumped incumbent Vice President Henry Wallace and selected Sen. Harry S. Truman as his second-in-command, has the decision been so widely viewed as the choosing of an heir apparent, given former Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s age and the open speculation surrounding his cognitive abilities. “It is consequential in that for Joe Biden, his VP pick is in many ways his political living will,” said Trump senior campaign adviser Jason Miller

The third in a series of monthly Democracy Institute/ Sunday Express polls has given President Trump a surprise lead over his Democrat rival of 48 percent to 46 percent, his clearest lead yet. Crucially, President Trump has a lead of 48 percent to 43 percent in the swing states Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin which would put him back in the White House with an electoral college tally of 309 to Biden’s 229. Specifically, in Florida Trump has a 47 to 45 point lead, Minnesota (where the black lives matters protests began) a 46/45 lead, and New Hampshire a 46/43 lead.

Picture this Thanksgiving: turkey, football (maybe), tenser-than-usual interactions with relatives. And perhaps a new tradition: finding out who actually won the presidential election. The coronavirus crisis means that states like Pennsylvania may be counting mail-in ballots for weeks, while President Trump tweets false allegations about fraud. And the last barriers between American democracy and a deep political crisis may be television news and some version of that maddening needle on The New York Times website. I spoke last week to executives, TV hosts and election analysts across leading American newsrooms,

The Chicago Gun Myth 12 replies

The tragically incompetent mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, appeared on CNN’s State of the Union this weekend to deflect attention from the horror show unfolding in her city by blaming interlopers for its spiking murder rate: “We are being inundated with guns from states that have virtually no gun control, no background checks, no ban on assault weapons — that is hurting cities like Chicago.” Although these accusations have leveled by Chicago politicians for decades now, they are a myth. For one thing, there is no state in the nation with “virtually no gun control” or “no background checks.” Every time anyone in the United States purchases a gun

The argument that only the police should have guns was once standard. It has now become unfashionable, as everyone is expected to accept the premise that only criminals and rioters should have them. The anti-gun Left — and even a newly resurgent gun-toting Left involved in or near to the recent riots — is being swept

The Rasmussen daily presidential tracking poll for Friday, July 31, finds that 50 percent of likely voters approve of President Trump’s job performance, while 48 percent disapprove. 39 percent strongly approve and 43 percent strongly disapprove. Comparing Trump’s approval rating to that of Barack Obama on the corresponding date eight years ago, Rasmussen finds Trump doing slightly better. On July 31, 2012, Obama’s approval rating in the Rasmussen poll was 47 percent. If the latest Rasmussen numbers accurately reflect public opinion, and if these numbers hold up, Trump will likely win the election, assuming voter fraud doesn’t prevent that result.

President Trump seems determined to sow confusion and chaos ahead of the 2020 election. Laurence Tribe says the president is trying to make the election ‘look chaotic’ and mentions a ‘fail safe’: President Nancy Pelosi. "There is a procedure -- it's a very elaborate procedure -- in every state for resolving disputes by the date of the so-called safe harbor on December 8th," Tribe explained. "So, really, all of the efforts that Trump is making to both pretend that he can extend the date of the election, which everyone understands he can't do that. That date is set at November 3rd by act of Congress."

On Aug. 1, 1945, 12-year-old Hideko Sudo went to bed fully clothed and full of worry. For days, air raid alerts had left the coastal city of Toyama on edge, prompting her school's closure. More alarmingly, earlier that day, American planes had rained down leaflets warning of an imminent attack. Hideko's fears proved well-founded. Despite a sophisticated alert system and a decade of air defense drills, the arrival just after midnight of a wave of B-29 bombers plunged Toyama into chaos. Superfortresses — 173 of them — encountered only sparse antiaircraft fire as they released around 1,500 tons of incendiaries onto the city's center.

It’s the reason Nevada Democrats on Saturday passed mail-in voting and ballot harvesting in their special session just 97 days before the national election. They know it’s easier to cheat that way. President Trump posted this video earlier this week that shows how corrupt and flawed the mail-in voting process is in America today. [Video] But Marco Rubio sided with Democrats today.
