Hollywood is falling victim to
its relentless virtue signaling

During the 1930s and 1940s, there were many genuine communists, as well as fellow travelers, working in Hollywood. Once the Cold War began, Hollywood turned against those people and instituted its blacklist, which made it impossible for anyone with communist sympathies to work openly in Hollywood.
Of late, the further left you lean in Hollywood, the more you are to be applauded. That’s why it’s incredibly ironic to realize that Hollywood is once again blacklisting people – only this time, blacklisting means that the only people listed for employment have to be black.

It seems almost everyone on TV now is not white, unless the show is an over 30 year old rerun. Whites are not on any contemporary entertainment shows and are a minority on advertisements.

There are a few movies I am waiting for. One of them is King Kong vs Godzilla but if what this article says is true, then Hollywood has lost me. I am not going to patronize any industry that actively discriminates against anyone because of their race. Jordan Peele is talented and I loved Key and Peele. Jordan Peele is biracial. I can't understand why he would diss half of his heritage, especially since it was his white mother who raised him.
Oh well, I have a huge DVD collection and hopefully the craziness will pass as soon as Hollywood takes a big enough financial hit.

Affirmative action entertainment gets turned off here. We don't watch just to watch and many understand that in the hopes to make people watch junk they boost the ratings. Understanding the rating system is important now. 4 Stars: Many blacks including the director, homosexual and interracial scenes, white man stupid. 3 Stars: Many blacks and a theme that whites are racist and black man finds a way to wake them, white man stupid. 2 Stars. Blacks and whites but black man smartest man on earth finds a way to save the world.

About all the TV I watch anymore is METV. They show all the old series from the 60's and 70's. There are some social messages, but they rarely jam it down your throat. Plus the good guys always win, virtue is a good thing and all crimes are solved in a half hour. Most of the time by the end of the show you feel pretty good, not preached to.

Most of the people who support movies and professional sports like football are white. It is mostly white money that makes the black actors and athletes rich. I don't think they are going to pay their hard earned money to support these "racist" moguls who are trashing whites. There will be monetary consequences.

"Everyone has a right to their opinion. And we – black producers with hiring power – have the right not to hire those who diminish us."
The sad statement of someone who has fallen into the trap of "boss" syndrome. "I am the boss so I can do whatever I please." That kind of thinking is very limited and not surprising for Communists who don't understand the market.
Here is the reality. I don't usually go to see "Black" movies. It's "Not that I don’t like" Black "dudes. But I’ve seen that movie before.". Black movies emphasize Black culture and frankly, it's a mismatch to me. It's a market choice, just like "I prefer Pepsi instead of Coke". There is a great market for Black movies but it is limited. So the outcome is, the "boss" may choose to hire Blacks exclusively and make "Black" movies but their movies will have a limited market. That's before the backlash against the lousy attitude of the people making the film.
The outcome will be the same as what happens in Communist countries on a smaller scale, you can do what you want but it won't work and your industry will collapse. The money to make films flows to successful movie makers. Since Hollyweird has been creating lousy movies lately, it's not that big of a loss. The remaining Blacks "in charge" will be king of the ant hill.
Maybe there will be a thriving Indie market that will produce movies with broader appeal?

Quite honestly the product coming out of Hollywood over the past 10 years or more is mostly garbage politically correct remakes and version II and III and IV of past movies that were originals. With rare exception are any of them worth spending money to see them worth it.
Hollywood liberals are now eating themselves. Who will be next?

Hollywood is the epitome of the target of the criticism of capitalism. People who get filthy rich while playing pretend. If the workers who actually make things should own the means of production because the inventors, investors, risk takers and visionaries don't actually make and put stuff together, then where the hell do play actors fall on the spectrum of who should have what in that socialist utopia? Same for those who play with a ball for a living.
Is that perhaps exactly why they are the most vocal cheerleaders and work so hard on the appearance of compliance with he left? Is it a diversion so that the social justice warriors don't take a peek at the worst offenders by their own definition? Remember the kid or kids who weren't really bullies but they hung around as the bully entourage because that was their insurance policy to avoid being bullied?

Does this also apply to TV advertising? Here we see 12% of the population in 90% of the TV ads. Am I supposed to buy the product if a black actor who is acting white advertises it?
And why am I to be enticed to buy X's product if a mixed race couple likes it?
I am wearing out my mute button. But now I need a disappear button too.

#3 gets it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with much of what is produced for us to see in movie theaters and on television these days, just as long as you are willing to be FORCE FED with people who are confused about many things being shoved into what would appear to be classic story lines.
Rather than novelty or showcases for talent, we are constantly preached at to accept things which do not always lead to morality and virtue with story lines promoting all sorts of vices as "normal", like those afternoon talk show purporting to make it seem like many or some people on the block where you live being racists. swingers, or abusers of some kind.
Plenty of great entertainment be had, but with only a few few exceptions, avoid most streaming services and new movies coming our of Hollyweird. "Reality" shows are pablum to books.

I never understood why so many bi-racial children (now adults) dies their white parentage. I guess that's easier and more hip these days. Whatever. I'll watch old movies on TCM, a few of the Hallmark/Pixl movies. Otherwise I boycott them all: DeNiro, Dwayne Johnson, etc.

Get ready Hollywood turns 'ghetto' with white actors who use to get paid big bucks do a little 'white flight' to foreign countries to work again. The next good movies will come from Italy or Spain remember the spaghetti westerns? Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney go to Italy to make their movies with producers following. Like I always said if you wonder where all this nation's woes lie just paint a black face on it and they're 13% of the population.
Advertisement forget about that it's almost all bi-racial couples with their kids now.

Talk about karma! Looks like Meathead’s career is over.
I’ve never heard of either director or their films mentioned in the article, but then I almost never go to movies and I don’t watch television. And speaking of not going to movies - why are they making films in Hollyweird when all of the theaters are closed?

The entertainment industry will not survive without customers. Hollywood lost at least half of them when they turned into self appointed political experts and preachy Leftists. Blacks make up about 13% of the population. The rest of us are now the enemy. Business people they are not.

The "hits" Get Out and Us, were both low-budget flicks ($5 million and $20 million respectively) that were profitable because of their low production costs. They appealed to a niche audience for the most part. Will all -Bipoc movies draw non-Bipoc people into theaters in droves like the Star Wars and the superhero franchises do? I think not, but only time will tell.

It seems to me that the idiocy behind BIPOC is that of a Zero Sum game. It is as if there is only room for one writer, one director, one producer, one star. If you light a candle, you have some light. Now, light another candle just like it and place them side by side. Will you have LESS light? Or, will you have MORE? Nothing wrong with the BIPOC opinion, however, 100 more years on the planet will correct it. I only give us 50! (Agreed that they are shooting virtue arrows from an empty quiver.)

I have noticed how inconsequential most of Hollywood has become, and many of the TV actors, over the last 4-5 months. I don't think this will return very quickly either.
Seems they aren't essential workers, or an essential industry, and they are grasping at trying to remain relevant in some manner.

Lucky for me I have access to foreign entertainment like UK/EU puts out. At least if there is interracial relationships involved, it is done more honestly than Hollywood. They have been more tolerant about interracial couples for decades longer than America has. Plus the entertainment is so much more superior than American current product is. I also enjoy Korean/HK/Indonesia productions as well.

The original Hollywood blacklist was a GOOD thing. Got the Communists out of the industry. The endless attempts to rewrite that history and call it bad are just modern communists (often the sons and daughters of the original Communists) trying to paper over the real danger of these anti-American people of the 30 and 40s.
Back again - lots of actual Communists in Hollyweird. Going to Venezuela and Cuba, supporting their leaders, THAT IS COMMUNIST, pure and simple.

We haven't seen a movie in years. While I choose to read, the wife liked the Hallmark movies. I used to read in the same room that she watched her shows, but lately, the smart person setting the stupid White person straight is bLACK. Almost all commercials are mixed race families or are a teaching moment for the ignorant, bumbling White male, by a woman or his bLACK friend. Slowly, the missus has begun reading and or TV is on just enough to get the weather, and before long, weather apps on smart phones will replace that, because we're tired of the flaming homosexual weatherman. I watch to be entertained, not preached too, and I don't believe every couple, neighborhood or town has a majority LGBTQWXYZ population. If the entertainment industry went belly up tomorrow, and the non-essential 'stars' never made another film, I'd never know it.

Can't recall if it was Contact or the original MIB in the late '90s but it was the last time I was in a traditional theater. I have done a couple of IMAX.
Bought a 4k HD TV in May. I'll wager I haven't watched 2 hours on it.
