The New York Times op-ed page has featured contributions from Vladimir Putin, pedophiles, and the Taliban without a peep from the paper’s staff, so it might seem odd that an opinion piece by Senator Tom Cotton was the one that would spur a professional revolt. But Cotton’s op-ed argued for using the American military to help local police quell violent unrest in the wake of the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. In the eyes of hundreds of Times staffers, that view—shared, according to one poll, by 3 in 5 Americans—could not be permitted.

A good but ultimately depressing read. It's as if I went to bed one night back in February and woke up in Ayn Rand's dystopian future in "Atlas Shrugged" mashed up with a bit of Orwell's "1984". There seems to be no one in power left, save for Trump, who will speak up for those of us who do not subscribe to all this nonsense and still believe in the rule of law.
I have no faith at this point that November will be any sort of salvation. If Trump loses, I expect that while the daily protests and riots will miraculously cease, the next wave will strike as the newly emboldened Dimocrats will begin their grand master plan beginning with the nationalization of all pension and retirement funds to get their hands on one of the remaining pools of money out of their reach. News and opinion will be fully censored thanks to the tech oligarchs, outlets like OAN and Fox will be made to conform under the color of new FCC regulations, and conservative sites like these will be de-platformed by pressuring their ISPs or simply restricting access to the Internet. Should Trump win, we'll be in for four more years of the same but worsening behavior by the OWS/BLM/Soros minions.
In either case, the "new normal".

I for one think it is a very dangerous move to use the military to quell civil disorder. But to vilify even having a "conversation" as the left likes to say, is nothing but a sign that they have no interest is coexisting with traditionalists or anyone who isn't on the radical left.
I would also caution people with my reluctance to use the military to be wary of a foreign adversary infiltrating and taking advantage of the appearance of a domestic issue when in fact we are facing an external largely foreign threat.

Seems like anti-Americans took over journalism, as well as academia long ago.

The New York Times sole mission is to agitate the Right with lies, innuendos and falsehoods. They will print anything to stir things up and they do it but only for a few who actually read. The East Coast and West coast elitist Left are maybe about 3% of the Dems. The rest of the Dems are morons and ignoramuses who don't read. The Right consists of about 90% readers and care what is said. Why should we care what the Lefts thinks? I predict The New York Times has a short life expectancy. I give them 3-5 more years on the media ventilator before they Croak.

There's a lot of small, petty and selfish young people today. I'm assuming they get this coming out of college, instilled by weenie professors. .Definitely not big thinkers or able to see a bigger picture. They match up well with the people on the streets causing the chaos. It's a big weakness in our country, not a good sign.

For those who argue that the Posse Comitatus Act prevents the President from using the military against domestic issues:
''In the mid-20th century, the administration of President Dwight D. Eisenhower used an exception to the Posse Comitatus Act, derived from the Enforcement Acts, to send federal troops into Little Rock, Arkansas, during the 1957 school desegregation crisis. The Arkansas governor had opposed desegregation after the United States Supreme Court ruled in 1954 in the Brown v. Board of Education that segregated public schools were unconstitutional. The Enforcement Acts, among other powers, allowed the president to call up military forces when state authorities were either unable or unwilling to suppress violence that was in opposition to the citizens' constitutional rights.''

''Journalism,'' has morphed into leftist propaganda vignettes, spoon-fed 24/7, crafted and scripted by political enemies of the USA, it would seem.
