The president of a South Dakota tribe called for Mount Rushmore to be removed, so long as the removal does not harm the existing environment.Oglala Sioux President Julian Bear Runner told the Argus Leader Thursday that he believed the massive carving featuring Presidents Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson should be removed from the area, which he considers to be part of the Sioux's Great Sioux Reservation."I don’t believe it should be blown up, because it would cause more damage to the land," said Bear Runner. "Removed but not blown up."
No... Remove your Indian statues from your reservations, leave our national landmarks alone.

Tell that so-called president that his side should WIN the war if he wants to decide about monuments, until then STFU about it.

This is an awful story to wake up to, isn’t it? We have to remember a lot, a lot of the Indian tribal leaders are hooked up with the Democrats. I saw this firsthand when we lived on the North Oregon coast. We can be certain the organized forces attempting to overthrow our Trump is nudging the Sioux to move in this direction.
Waiting, waiting, waiting for a strong show of elected Republican leaders to get behind a microphone denouncing these things with determination and passion.
Oh, BTW, Senator Kennedy was on FNC this morning. I was saddened to hear him attempt to soften the violence toward our historic monuments by calling them “public art.” Not a word in the lengthy interview about these acts of defilement being against Federal law.

So get all your Soo out there with hammers and chisels and deface our nation once again. I have to wonder how many honorable and dedicated naitive American veterans there are who would come out and defend Mount Rushmore. My guess is a lot.

#9, glad to see your comments here!
H*ll will FREEZE OVER if you thing the spineless, cowardly republican elites will SO anything except jawbone--
Sadly, they will get to the podium in the well of the Senate and talk about how deplorable and bad things are and then vote FOR that which the day before spoke so passionately about.
WE the People are going to have to find OUR OWN voices. The issue of police brutality was HIJACKED by the socialists, and Piglosi and the braying Jenny AOC get ALL the press without a thought as to how their vitriol speaks for the VAST MAJORITY of Americans.
Why don't other minority groups get to matter like black lives matter? Narrative from the media is unified, and 90% is owned by only a handful of people who won't go against each other.

Sorry, it can't be done. If you want to do something constructive, raise some money for the Crazy Horse memorial. That is going to be awesome when it's finished.

Let's not forget the Taliban blowing up blowing up the 1,700 year old Buddhist statues - this is not an act protesting "systemic" racism (that does not exist), this is an attempt to eliminate America.

If you have ever had the luxury of being escorted by a Mt. Rushmore park ranger, you and your family will be treated to a rant, straight out of Howard Zinns fantasy world of American history. After touching on the construction of the Monument you are then drenched in the sacredness of the grounds to the only REAL owners.

The Sioux tribe is not even native to the Black Hills area; they had killed and displaced the other tribes in the area. They are from around the Mississippi R. . The displaced tribes should insist they leave the area. Let's also judge them on how they treat their women and their strict gender roles. None of that is PC. Those without sin should throw the first tomahawk.

Go for it. It is only fitting that the greatest nation on Earth, provable by any stats you want to bring up, would ultimately fall back into the Stone Age helll that was the 'civilization' in North America for two thousand years. We can 'celebrate' the land and 'native' American culture by living to about age 27 and then starving to death or die by inter tribal wars or be enslaved by a neighboring tribe. Such a beautiful culture and fantastic opportunities for women to do most of the day to day work. Communists everywhere love this guy.

The Clovis People preceded the Oglala Sioux. There were probably other civilizations before the Clovis. Where do you draw the line?

So how long do you have to occupy "land" to claim it as ancestral? And did the Sioux not do to other Indians what they claim the US did to them?
The Arikara arrived by AD 1500, followed by the Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa and Pawnee. The Lakota (also known as Sioux) arrived from Minnesota in the 18th century and drove out the other tribes, who moved west. They claimed the land, which they called Ȟe Sápa (Black Mountains).
