Vatican calls on Catholics
to divest from fossil fuels

Original Article

Posted By: StormCnter, 6/19/2020 4:09:06 PM

The Vatican on Thursday urged Catholics to divest from fossil fuels, a call made in church documents warning against the dangers of climate change. The 225-page encyclical, which is sent to all bishops within the church, also encouraged divesting from arms and monitoring sectors like mining to ensure they are not damaging the environment. The document, "Journeying Towards Care For Our Common Home," argues people “could favor positive changes ... by excluding from their investments companies that do not satisfy certain parameters,” according to Reuters.

Let's hope the bishops are smarter than the Vatican, and thus will ignore this encyclical, which could damage the economy. Has Soros been advising the Pope?

This clown knows less about the machinations of economies and maintaining a vibrant civilization than he does about scripture, and that's saying something since he is a theological dolt. My only question is why these leftist imbeciles (but I repeat myself) feel it necessary to foist their opinions on things they know absolutely nothing about?

To put fossil fuel on the same level as abortion and war is is bizarre. Fossil fuel has raised the standard of living of everyone on planet earth far beyond what would have ever been possible otherwise. The market place, technology and practical replacement strategies will decide the future of fossil, not the pope. Another misadventure by the Holy Father. As a Catholic, I just shake my head and pray he doesn't do anymore damage to the church than he already has.

I became non practicing in 1969 after I had joined the Navy and found the RCC was anything but catholic as I was obliged to "see the world". Don't worry about it. The Vatican is the expert on faith and morals, not on science AND Catholics know that. Don't know what idiot wrote this document for him but it was a waste of effort unless the author actually wanted the Vatican to lose friends. No Catholic is going to think this is actionable unless they wanted to do these things anyway. Ignore it politely.

in related news, the Syracuse diocese in Upstate New York filed for bankruptcy today - the third upstate catholic diocese to do so. all three dioceses had the same problem - homosexual pedophile perverts serving as priests. those homosexual pedophile priests caused the church to be sued by the boys, now men, who were sexually defiled by the priests. The Pope should get his head out of his anus and concentrate on real problems facing the Church.

Didn't the Pope announce in 2019 it was "his duty" to introduce a new "sin against ecology"? So, in the near future, if you still invest in "fossil fuels" despite this friendly advice to repent -- you will sin. What about the end user and his carbon footprint? Can you still use vaseline? Pope Pancho the First does not understand US. We are the world premier producer of oil and gas and with that energy drive the world economy forward. The Sustainable development globalist agenda of the United Nations would devastate the world economy, and is based on the falsehood that there is American-made Global Warming. In the meantime the Pope kowtows to the Chinese Communist Party betraying Catholic bishops. The Pope should stick to his knitting.

John Bolton’s aspirations to publish 500 pages of what reportedly is a nonstop jeremiad against that fellow in the Oval Office faces a steep legal hurdle: the 1980 Supreme Court decision in Snepp v. United States. Frank Snepp was a CIA agent who spent 1968 in Vietnam, the year in which American weekly casualties peaked. In 1977 Snepp published a memoir of what must have been a most unhappy tour, even by the standards of wartime. Titled A Decent Interval, it ran some 600 pages. Its thesis, in a nutshell, was that America made an indecent exit from Vietnam, abandoning its allies, knowing that the North Vietnamese

Like many contemporary social movements—#metoo, Black Lives Matter, the Women’s March—the environmental lobby has tended to create an atmosphere of unanimity. In its struggle to win public and elite opinion, it has frequently evoked “science” as something settled and immutable, warning that those who dissent are either self-serving or seriously deranged. Yet in recent months, there has been growing criticism about the current green orthodoxy, including from people long associated with environmental causes. This has been most widely seen in the strange case of the Michael Moore–produced Planet of Humans, which exposes the rapacious profit-seeking and gratuitous environmental damage caused by the renewable energy industry.

America has reached an epistemological breaking point. For the first two months following the coronavirus outbreak, public-health experts insisted that we “follow the science” and implement their recommendations, even if it meant millions of lost jobs and significant restrictions on constitutionally protected activities, such as church attendance and freedom of assembly. Blue-state governors quickly positioned themselves as executors of this neutral scientific knowledge, condemning anti-lockdown protesters as “anti-scientific;” meantime, social media companies banned anti-lockdown groups and censored content from lockdown skeptics. But when protests erupted in the U.S. after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, many public-health experts reversed course—and subordinated “science” to their activist politics.

As far as exit interviews are concerned, this one was unofficial and especially ugly. In his forthcoming book, “The Room Where It Happened,” John Bolton condemns President Trump as a bumbling executive and mocks Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin as a political opportunist and dismisses Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as generally averse to conflict. But he doesn’t stop there, as one rising GOP star is finding out. "What," Marx asked, "is the Commune, that sphinx so tantalizing to the bourgeois mind?" In 1871 the Commune was the revolutionary government of Paris, a revolt against the newborn Third Republic of Adolphe Thiers. The communards, drawn from the ranks of city-dwelling laborers, overthrew the republican army and replaced it with an armed guard. The police were disbanded—or "defunded"—and reconstituted as an agency of the Commune. "It aimed to expropriate the expropriators." Churches were closed, judges were disestablished, and offices redistributed among the masses of the people. "In a rough sketch of national organization which the Commune had no time to develop," Marx wrote in "The Civil War in France,"
