yearning for ‘normalcy’

The killing of George Floyd rightly horrified Americans. The ensuing protests united us around police accountability. But no sooner had people lined up to agree with the premise that bad police officers should be punished, and racism within organizations rooted out, than the movement put forth a demand to defund the police.
It’s utterly bonkers.
Anyone who imagines “defund the police” doesn’t actually mean defund the police should watch the viral video featuring Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey confronted on the issue by protest leaders.

FTA: "The ensuing protests united us around police accountability."
They were not peaceful protests. Peaceful protests are people walking around in circles in front of a building, holding signs on sticks. All the rioting and torching and looting and destruction of people and property does not unite anyone around anything. And I think it should be called dishonest news which means something different than fake news.
Today's local paper has a headline by Associated Press, "Accuracy Unknown for Many Corona Virus Tests Rushed Out." More backtracking. You mean, no one knew this when it was happening. This is why most people do not read the paper anymore.

This will backfire on the left! The vote in November will be anarchy vs normalcy.
This nation is badly in need of normalcy (and not that new norm with masks on).

The killing of Floyd is reprehensible and should be (in fact is being) prosecuted and punished. But his life is not a one to be celebrated, especially by blacks (sorry Blacks). That the Democrats are doing this with abandon is not lost on the electorate. Any lack of recognition, empathy for those that have suffered adds fuel to this. There is a 55% vs. 9% difference by Party in defunding the police. Despite the polls and Biden's strong showing with independents and moderates, it is difficult to believe this will not strongly impact the outcome on Nov 3rd.

They are attempting to make 2020 so bad through deliberate acts resulting in the death of thousands, the destruction of the product of human toil, the bankruptcy of countless small businesses, lawlessness in the streets, mob rule, that they'll have us begging for a return to 2015.
A point of clarification regarding my death comment. I reach that conclusion without interjecting any of the things I suspect but do so with what I know to be true. The inside out quarantine where democrat governors deliberately placed the afflicted with the most vulnerable in nursing homes is either stupidity or murder. The fraudulent campaign against a potential treatment which may have saved lives for the purpose of political posturing, is also murder or at least attempted murder in the event HCQ coincidentally turns out to not have been a life saver.
Undoubtedly some people will react as planned. Others will double down on their support for the rule of law and Trump. I pray that the latter is overwhelming and carries right on to 2024.
Furthermore their goal isn't 2015, their goal is to resume the fundamental transformation that was well underway in 2015. Some of us, certainly those of us her on this site, were capable of ascertaining the missing part of the campaign slogan and filled in the blank, transformation into what: The socialist state of America. At least that's out in the open. There is still an enormous gap between knowing that is the goal and knowing what the ramifications of achieving that goal would be. Even that is beginning to reveal itself.

There can be no "normalcy" when one of the sides is insane. Truly, clinically, insane. It's like a marriage with such a person and no real way to divorce that person and live peacefully in separate locations. That person, and all that person's family and friends, daily doing everything possible to irritate, hurt you, and utterly destroy you in things large and small. Yes, it's exactly like that.
And even if that person someday becomes the one "in charge" of daily decisions again, it may become closer to normalcy for them, but they'll make sure it will never again be normalcy for you. Why, because they are truly, clinically, insane. You saw what they think is a "summer of love".
Convince me I'm wrong.

IF there is a Trump-Biden debate, some will call President Trump a bully.
If there is NOT a Trump-Biden debate, some will call President Trump a coward. Grab a prayer chain and hand on, everyone.

Leftists have a campaign going to sign up for tickets for the rally, some are using bots to do it automatically. I have seen the invitation to join the effort. They think that their action will result in empty seats at the rally because no more tickets will be left for Trump supporters. They are very not smart people.

Seeing the scarf props the Democrats wore last week tells me normalcy has gone out the window. They criticize President Trump for holding the Bible yet the Democrat's apparel is just another prop. Hey, Democrats, how do you think God feels seeing our President of the USA carrying a Bible?
Yep, normalcy will be when Democrats start taking a look at their Bible. . .

The truth is that if Floyd had done what the policeman told him to do he would be with us today. Same as the young man in Atlanta. Having a retired Chief of Police and a current State Trooper in my family if you do what an officer says you are in no danger. Police today are under much more scrutiny than years past. Too many eyes and cameras.

I disagree with the first sentence. Floyd wasn't killed, and his drug overdose/heart attack death has been twisted into something that the facts don't support.

Been telling people since the virus began and social justice warriors started rioting that I truly believe that people have had enough. I think that many of those who have not voted in years and some who have never voted don't like what's going on and that the experiment in Socialism is anti-American and will go to the polls in RECORD numbers. REMINDER, it's not black vs. white, Libs. vs. conservatives, Dems. vs. Republicans etc., it's GOOD vs. evil.

"Trump will have Biden crying on stage."
I'm not convinced that Biden will actually be the actual nominee.
And even if he is, I doubt that they will let him debate.

Yeah, like we all just can't wait to get back those "normal" Bathhouse/Biden years.
