Richmond, Va.—A statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis was torn down along Richmond, Virginia's famed Monument Avenue on Wednesday night by protesters. The statue in the former capital of the Confederacy was toppled shortly before 11 p.m. and was on the ground in the middle of an intersection, news outlets reported. Richmond police were on the scene. About 80 miles (130 kilometers) away, protesters in Portsmouth beheaded and then pulled down four statues that were part of a Confederate monument on Wednesday, according to media outlets.(Snip) A statue of Christopher Columbus in Richmond was torn down by protesters,

I can’t imagine why because he was the great white hope the Democrats had to win the civil war and preserve slavery. Now they are in a panic to erase the past and rewrite history.

How far is this going to go, the denying us of our history? What is happening here is to effectively make us disappear! A people without history are no people at all! I’m 73, too old to fight and my eyes are bad. When are the young and strong going to strike back?

"Demonstrators beheaded the four Confederate statues before pulling one down using a tow rope Wednesday night at the Portsmouth Confederate monument as police watched.
A protester was injured as the statue fell, hitting him on the head. Louie Gibbs, vice president of the Portsmouth NAACP, said the man, who was in his 30s, lost consciousness. The man’s head was cut open, and he was transported to the hospital.
After he was injured, demonstrators stopped to offer prayers and a quiet moment of solidarity before police told them they needed to leave the area."

Does anyone still think that there can be some sort of reasoned discourse with these animals?

I think the statue of Martin King should be torn down. He was a plagerizer and womanizer. Besides, that ugly statue looks more like Mao than anyone else.

Maybe it's good I am far away, but it looks like there aren't any real Virginians left. My heart is broken. Monument Ave was a beautiful street with statue after statue. This is no different than Islamic terrorist.
I hope the person that paid for this dies by the hands of the same home grown terrorist. Never in my lifetime did I ever expect to see this happen to the greatest country on earth. PC ruined this country.

Did the Democrat-Antifa Party first consult with the Taliban for instructions on how tear down and destroy this historical statue?
History will not look too kindly on these American culture-hating Leftists.

ISIS religious fighters destroyed treasured artifacts, buildings, and ancient sites in Iraq and Syria. Today’s protesters, under the guise of wanting racial peace and equality, seem no less destructive in destroying monuments honoring this country’s history—monuments that honor causes and individuals of moral righteousness that, by leftist perception, do not meet their standards of political correctness. The destructiveness of radicalism.

I hope Mount Vernon and Monticello are well-protected. I shudder to think what the mob will do next while we just stand by helplessly.

You can thank Nikki Haley for this. She started the ball rolling by caving and removing monuments in SC, in the naive hope that it would show understanding and buy good will. All it did was embolden the perpetually aggrieved crowd to go for more.

The heroic police stood by, hands in pockets, orders received. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned far more slaves than Jefferson Davis ever did. The communists would totally not demand that they go next, even though they promised exactly this decades ago; tearing down the CSA monuments merely greases the skids.
