Black Lives Matter: Protester hit
in head by falling Confederate statue

Original Article

WARNING: Graphic A protester has reportedly been seriously injured while pulling down a Confederate statue in Portsmouth, Virginia. "There was a gentleman who was directly in front of the statue and when the statue finally did give way it came and fully hit him in the head," a local Black Lives Matter representative told news reporter Brett Hall. "You could see his skull was actually showing, he was convulsing on the ground. He lost a fair amount of blood, we're asking everybody to pray for that man right now." Hall, who was at the protest, reported it had been a celebratory atmosphere as protesters worked to pull

Comments:

No noggin is hard enough to weather a direct hit from a falling statue. The line from that old Dr. John song swims up from the deeps: "My head was in a bad place and I'm wondering what it's good for." Stay away from places of trouble.

Another example of why Confederate troops weren't easily defeated. Even their statues cause serious injury. Back away from the monuments, while you still have a chance.

Some people get what they deserve. Why is this being reported by a New Zealand newspaper? Thank heavens for foreign presses which aren't afraid to tell the truth sometimes, and for ldotters who dig it out.

He was described as a "gentleman" in the article. Well, Gerald: [the other men protest] Now gentlemen, Mr. Butler has been up North I hear. Don’t you agree with us, Mr. Butler? Rhett: I think it’s hard winning a war with words, gentlemen. Charles: What do you mean, sir? Rhett: I mean, Mr. Hamilton, there’s not a cannon factory in the whole South. Man: What difference does that make, sir, to a gentleman? Rhett: I’m afraid it’s going to make a great deal of difference to a great many gentlemen, sir. I guess it also matters to a "gentleman" if a statue falls on his head.

Of course the primary responsibility is on him, but a large part of the entire event and why a normal person would even be there is squarely at the feet of the American educational establishment and the media. They either failed to educate or in the case of the media actually brainwashed millions for sensationalist, negative 'news' to boost ratings. A young, poorly educated, poorly disciplined fool just paid with his life for not having enough curiosity or respect to understand the real world. I'd include the parents, but it has never been harder to raise a child right, than it is today. They may have tried and been outvoted by peers or a culture of true madness.

The main reason they were hard to defeat, #1, was that they were fighting to defend their home soil from the northern invaders, and protect their families. I remember high school field trips touring those monuments in Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, and the whole Tidewater area, where I spent my teen years. Virginia was central in both the American Revolution and the War Between the States, and they knew how to honor, tastefully and respectfully, the memory of the men and women who figured prominently in that history. These antifa miscreants know only how to injure, deface, destroy and defame. It would be ironic justice if every act of destruction they attempt were to rebound upon their heads in a similar fashion.

When statues are toppled it’s because the topplers are making room for their own monuments. Every revolution is driven not only by the desire to tear down but also to replace the old world with the new. ‘Defunding the police,’ we are now told, does not mean defunding the police, but shifting the money to a new public safety agency, which will almost certainly lead to a politicized if not a political police. Even banning Gone with the Wind is preparatory to more. No political movement ever bans just one book. That coming new world will be inconceivably different from anything familiar. It has to be

Climate change is making nightingales have shorter wings, so they’re all going to die because they can’t migrate. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced popular consciousness to face mortality after decades of anticipating life extension and even the Singularity as a birthright. Yet it did not appreciably diminish the popular belief that technology would save the day and allow us to renew the march to progress before too long. But to await salvation would be to expect more from technology than is reasonable. First, there are suspicions the pandemic itself may be the product of technology, of rogue experiments or bad lab containment. Technology does not 'save' anything of itself; it works in both directions. It can construct an electric toaster

As the northern hemisphere begins to emerge from the worst of the pandemic, political punditry is focusing on two issues: how to reopen the economy and how to decouple from China. The two subjects are related because a large part of the Western economy is joined at the hip with Beijing. To a substantial degree, China produces what America consumes. Each country's holdings in the other are enormous. They are bound by innumerable contracts, deals, projects and cross-posted personnel that are not easily severed. This system of cross-dependency was consciously pursued to vaccinate the world against a repetition of the two world wars. However, globalization also significantly eroded the independence
