Richmond, Va.—Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is expected to announce plans Thursday for the removal of an iconic statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee from Richmond’s prominent Monument Avenue, a senior administration official told The Associated Press. The governor will direct the statue to be moved off its massive pedestal and put into storage while his administration seeks input on a new location, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to speak before the governor’s announcement.(Snip) Also on Wednesday, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney announced plans to remove the other Confederate monuments along Monument Avenue,

Typical totalitarian tactic. "Revise" history. Maybe he wants to make room for a statue of himself.

Ralph Northam isn't worthy of licking Gen. Lee's boots clean after a walk in the pasture with his horse, Traveller. Are these historical illiterates aware that many of the statues of Lee were erected in honor of how he worked to heal the nation and encourage Southerners to accept the outcome of the war and end resistance efforts?

Any southerners out there who might care to render an opinion on this travesty?
Or northerners, for that matter.

#3 is an inspiration. We need to commission a statue of 'The Gov' of VA to depict his ridiculousness. Please, oh please, someone with the connections to do so put into motion a process where this buffoon can be depicted in a statue representing his foolishness. I Will Contribute. Guaranteed.

My heart is broken. Up until this very moment I had hoped that reconciliation was possible. That time would heal old wounds. That we were United States. But now I know what my Mother's father was talking about when he told how his childhood home in Arkansas was pillaged and their lives subjugated to Carpetbagging Northern looters. And now this putrid pile of liberal trash, the VA. Governor, tears down a memorial to the greatest Southerner of all. So remember where the land for Arlington National Cemetary came from next time you stare out over the acres of crosses. It came from Lee's estate. So we repay him by tearing his memorial apart at night and hiding him in a warehouse. Now I can understand the old saying about how only the war's losers remember the war. I'm closing in on 80....my grandfather was in his late 70s when I sat and listened to what happened in the years right after the war. I remember. My heart is broken. Some things can't be fixed or forgiven. They can only be remembered. Or forgotten. I choose to remember Lee for his dignity, decency, and loyalty to his convictions. I will try to forget the pussbucket governor of VA.

Democrats fight the civil war to defend slavery. They haven’t changed. It will be replaced with a statute of BH Obama swinging a golf club.

Is this idiot going to tear down the Confederate White House in Richmond as well? It's located right smack dab in the middle of VCU hospital complex. To visit the place, one has to park in one of the VCU hospital's parking lots.

#6 I would like to comment, but I would be banned forever. I am heartbroken. Do you know how many real southerners have Lee in their name? These aren't just some "statues" they are our ancestors. Worse yet, these vile people want to change history. My history.
It is really unfortunate that not enough natives of VA care enough to fight this. A pox on this lower orifice.

Next in the progression, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were slaveowners, so their monuments also need to come down. Abraham Lincoln had slaves in the White House, which was built using slave labor, so the Lincoln Memorial and the White House need to be taken down. Every slave in the USA was imported under Old Glory, so we need to replace that with a different flag, maybe a Black Power fist.
