Ben & Jerry’s calls on Americans
to ‘dismantle white supremacy’
in forceful statement

Let there be no doubt where Ben & Jerry’s stands. The ice cream maker has called on Americans to "dismantle white supremacy" and "grapple with the sins of our past" as nationwide protests against racial injustice stretch into their eighth day. In a forceful statement posted to the company's website late on Tuesday, Ben & Jerry's describes the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of a white police officer as the result of "inhumane police brutality that is perpetuated by a culture of white supremacy."(Snip) Companies including Nike, Netflix, Twitter, Disney, Facebook and Intel have condemned racism and injustice in recent days.

Comments:

What country on Earth has done more to boost the well-being of Africans than the USA? Meanwhile, there are more Africans enslaved in Africa right now than there ever were in the United States, and countries like Zimbabwe and South Africa openly and violently target white people as a matter of official government policy, versus the actions of one cop in a liberal city who perhaps crossed the line when trying to apprehend a repeat felon who was overdosing on drugs.

OP has valid points that, unfortunately, are not widely disseminated. Instead of rehashing the past history of America, we should be focused on building a future where everyone lives up to their full potential and flourishes. Doing so requires both sides putting aside hatred and bigotry in favor of engaging in an open, honest discussion. Both sides should offer their suggestions and actually listen to each other. Each suggestion should be subject to critical analysis by all participants. I fear that the current culture in America may have passed the point where such an open, honest, logical discussion is possible. I hope my fears are unwarranted and await being proven wrong.

Besides the mythical Wakanda of Marvel movies where Black Supremacy appears to be good and applauded, name one black ruled / run country (that is not mythical) where the country is run successfully, without warlords, poverty, and despair. In Mythical Wakanda, Blacks honored science, knowledge, family, respect for authority / government, and education. This is something that blacks DO NOT emulate in the USA. It appears that blacks who honor those principals are characterized as acting too WHITE for wanting to better themselves and their lives. Maybe that is part of the problem with why blacks have a problem doing better in the US today! Not white supremacy, but fear of acting too white.

What would have been sacrilege in New Orleans on Tuesday was a rallying cry for some on Wednesday. Video posted by Bryn Stole, an investigative reporter for the Advocate and Times-Picayune, shows protesters chanting, “F–k Drew Brees.” The Saints quarterback has been widely criticized for comments saying he would never support NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. Brees apologized for his comments on Thursday morning. Brees, 41, has held hero status in the Bayou, making the Saints a perennial contender and leading them to a Super Bowl championship in 2010. Brees signed a two-year deal this offseason,

Drew Brees does not believe he is the “enemy.” The Saints quarterback apologized for his comments on Wednesday, when he told Yahoo Finance that he would never support players who kneeled during the national anthem. The comments were quickly rebuked by Brees’ teammates, others in the NFL, athletes like LeBron James and some New Orleans residents. “I would like to apologize to my friends, teammates, the City of New Orleans, the black community, NFL community and anyone I hurt with my comments (Wednesday). In speaking with some of you, it breaks my heart to know the pain I have caused. In an attempt to talk

Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Thursday evening said most Americans believe the country needs to get better, arguing “10 to 15 percent” of people “are just not very good.” Mr. Biden, the presumptive 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, argued the president is vital in setting the standard for the rest of the country during a virtual town hall event on “The Shade Room” hosted by actor Don Cheadle. “Do we really think that this is as good as we can be as a nation? I don’t think the vast majority of people think that,” he said. “There are probably anywhere from 10 to 15 percent

And school leaders in Minneapolis and Portland, Ore., have already taken that step.(Snip) The public school board in Minneapolis voted unanimously to terminate its contract with the city’s police department on Tuesday in response to Floyd’s death. “I firmly believe that it is completely unnatural to have police in schools,” school board member Kimberly Caprini said during the meeting, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Mr. President, you’ve taken step one: Declaring Antifa a domestic terrorist organization. That was a brilliant move. Now it’s time for step number two: Cut the head off the snake. We’ve got to move to aggressively cut off the funding of domestic terrorism. Those who provide funding are terrorists themselves. Who is providing the funding? There are many suspects. Suspect number one is globalist billionaire George Soros and his Open Society Foundation. It starts there. Is Soros guilty? That’s way above my pay grade. That’s why we need a global investigation. And indictments and a trial.

Writing at the Washington Post, author Alyssa Rosenberg has a unique solution for the problems with our policing: Cancel all the cop shows on television. She argues we need to do that because there’s a “reactionary streak” behind the “surface liberalism” in these shows. For a century, Hollywood has been collaborating with police departments, telling stories that whitewash police shootings and valorizing an action-hero style of policing over the harder, less dramatic work of building relationships with the communities cops are meant to serve and protect. There’s a reason for that beyond a reactionary streak hiding below the industry’s surface

The death of George Floyd after an interaction with the Minneapolis Police Department has rocked the world and while everyone reading this believes that an officer that put his knee in the back of Floyd’s neck for close to nine minutes was the cause of death, the facts and evidence are anything but that. Now, before you quickly go the typical “you are justifying the murder” of Mr. Floyd, go ahead and take a step back. Our job here is to give you the facts and whether you want to believe it or not, many of the facts are either not reported or not yet known and that should be concerning to

The Lancet, the medical journal that published the original study in late May, said in a statement that they “can no longer vouch for the veracity of the primary data sources,” and “due to this unfortunate development, the authors request that the paper be retracted.” “We all entered this collaboration to contribute in good faith and at a time of great need during the COVID-19 pandemic,” they said. “We deeply apologise to you, the editors, and the journal readership

President Donald Trump’s economy proved it’s not going down without a fight. An excellent new jobs report has Keynesian New York Times economist Paul Krugman babbling about a Trump conspiracy on Twitter to make sense of it.CNBC reported that “Employment stunningly rose by 2.5 million in May and the jobless rate declined to 13.3%,” based on Friday’s Bureau of Labor Statistics’s (BLS) report. The report “was far better than economists had been expecting and indicated that an economic turnaround could be close at hand.” Krugman didn’t appear to know what to do with these numbers, except try to speculate the “possibility” that the Trump administration has “gotten to the BLS”

NBC News published an op-ed blasting NFL star Drew Brees for criticizing football players who kneel during the national anthem. The op-ed by Noah Berlatsky goes so far as to say that Brees’ “biggest mistake” in defending the American flag was “believing” that it “means anything.” Brees has been hit with an unprecedented amount of backlash this week after simply saying that he does not agree with kneeling during the national anthem. The New Orleans Saints quarterback said that he views the move as a sign of “disrespect” and shared the story of his military roots.
