As Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot called in the Illinois National Guard to prevent a second night of downtown violence and looting, the chaos spilled into some city neighborhoods and continued to overshadow the urgent message conveyed during peaceful protests over the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.(Snip) About 125 Guard members already reported for duty as of Sunday afternoon and an additional 250 were expected shortly. The soldiers and airmen have been given explicit orders not to interfere with protesters who are exercising their First Amendment rights, the governor said.
“Their job is to provide a perimeter,” Pritzker said. “They’re not going to be on the front

Local crime blog is reporting 21 killed, 46 wounded overnight. I haven't seen this reported on local msm sites but the crime blogs tend to be reliable.

Trump called out the violence in Minneapolis-and Lesbian Lightfoot told him to go F himself. Now, how's that working out in Chicago?
This is the Democratic Party in a nutshell-they think they know everything, but when action is called for their first move is to bury their heads in the sand.

Here in the nearly Chicago, I have been frightened and frustrated by the sheer lack of leadership on display by Chicago's so called leaders. Clearly, the out-manned police dept. fought a pitched and often time desperate battle with rioters and looters most of the day Saturday. Leaders seemed to be "oblivious" to what was going on around them, although any cop on the street could have informed them easily. Today, the famous Chicago Loop and Magnificent Mile are a sea of broken, boarded up windows, looter left behinds, graffiti everywhere, and a tense quiet. It's a shameful, somber day here and it portends more hardship, and, I fear, more violence.

Watched live streaming from LA with amazement. Choppers in the air saw it all and the local news presenters not once brought up the fact that their so called tiny minority of looters were of a certain age and race was frustrating to listen to. On the ground *peaceful protestors* show signs that say *WE ARE ONE* and then the sound of breaking glass and the riot is on. So PC that if we called them looters, they would call us Rascist!

I went back to church yesterday for the first time since early March and when I sat down in the pew, I became a teary mess. From the enormity of being back in church among and because of the news report of the burning of our country I saw on the news before I left home. I believe we are either coming to the end times or are in the end times. There is no other explanation.

Until there is a "Shoot Looters on Sight" Order, the Mobs are in control. They are not afraid of anyone when the Mayor and Governor says NO one will be arrested. What are the Police there for, to sweep up the Glass? It's insane! Trump absolutely should allow anyone breaking glass and setting fires to be taken down, one way or another! Enough!

Oh, please, "unrest" in Chicago has been a given for years, and no one ever pays it any mind. NOW, they are going to take notice of it!

If only the obumbum museum were finished and dumbo himself were in it to sooth the masses or would he instigate? Or would he simply try a land grab after the looters had burned down the park?

I would let the neighborhoods that are burned out stay that way. I would not send anyone in to cleanup anything not even a gun wrapper.
Let Lori Tinkerbell get "her" supporters to do it and followers do it..

This is a time for optimism #5. The lockdowns will end and Democrats will lose in a landslide in November. The riots in 1968 got Richard Nixon elected.

The riots will end when the Democrats say so. It’s happening in their cities, but the Democrat leaders in the state legislatures and in Congress have said nothing, unless I’m missing something. Until then, it’s “Let them go!”

#6, I agree. What amazes me about all of this is the readiness of cops to take down, brutalize, fine, whatever it took, to force innocent people--who simply wanted to feed their family--to comply with social distancing orders to prevent the REMOTE possibility of catching a virus. But these thugs who are rioting walk up to innocent bystanders with the INTENT to brutalize them because they are simply in the way, and where are the cops? Nowhere. We are witnessing the destruction and complete dismantling of the rule of law. It is becoming every man for himself. We, the innocent, are evolving into vigilantes. There will be no one to protect us.

If cops and rednecks are hunting and executing black men every day as we are told, what made 25 May 2020 any different than any other day?
This crap mayhem its way to about 2 miles from my abode. They paid a visit to my sisters place, thanks so much she's been bored silly living the good life on the front lines of the COVID 19 fight.
You know Chicago should have elected a mayor of color to relate to the struggle....oh wait they did, then they should have elected a woman of color....oh wait they did...well what about the LBGQ community...oh wait that box is checked too. So now what are they supposed to do?
Officer not so friendly's wife is filing for divorce. Was there trouble in paradise to begin with or is this just her way of standing by her man? Do you think they would ever let us know if George Floyd was a special friend of the Mrs.? He was within the sphere of acquaintance you know.

We had riots in downtown Charleston on Saturday night. Sunday morning hundreds of citizens showed up to clean up the mess and there is now a 6pm curfew. We live about 20 minutes from downtown, in the suburbs, and if the rioting reaches us, let’s just say that the response will not be nearly as accommodating as it was downtown.

Sorry to hear about Charleston, #14, it's a beautiful, historic city, unlike the democrat jungles that have been burned thus far. It makes no sense to me how burning and looting will somehow help these people or fix the false sense of racism that they hold in their heads. I could not bring myself to volunteer to clean up their mess and would make them live without the businesses they have burned but I guess pride in one's home overrides that. Good luck and aim well if it reaches you.
