Judge Emmet Sullivan must recuse from the Michael Flynn criminal case because he no longer maintains any semblance of impartiality.
On December 1, 2017, Flynn appeared before federal Judge Randolph Contreras and pleaded guilty to one count of making a false statement to FBI agents. Less than a week later, and without explanation, the case was reassigned to Sullivan, who has served as the presiding judge in the Flynn case since then.
Circumstances have long suggested that Judge Sullivan holds an anti-Flynn bias. After all, he once intimated during court proceedings that the retired lieutenant general had committed treason.

Judge Sullivan really does need to recuse himself. It's not looking good for him, in fact, they should be looking at removing him from the bench. There needs to be an investigation to what is really going on. I can see why Judge Sullivan is obtaining a lawyer. He may very well need it.

Cannot decide if Sullivan is simply unqualified and dumb re: the law or, more likely, he knows that no matter what wild and unlawful spin he puts on the Flynn case he will be supported and probably rewarded by Democrats in power.

I like Margot and all. She’s pretty bright and, with Mollie Hemingway, has done some good reporting on this case.
But I never use the word “should” in a sentence with “Democrat” where the implication is a correct moral choice and an action verb.
Democrats don’t have the moral compass to do what “should” be done.
Or as #2 questions: is the good judge that dumb?

Sullivan knows what he is doing and he knows that it is crooked. He is just another cog in the Get-Flynn wheel who picked up where the FBI left off. Many of his kind play the Innocent-but-Stupid card because it often works and they have that cloak of legality.

Compromised might be the proper adjective for Judge Sullivan.

I wonder if it concerns Sullivan that 37 people unmasked Flynn ... ambassador, treasury, WH & others ....it's so concerning that Barr appointed a special prosecutor to look into the unmasking of Flynn. I wonder how many others were unmask???? The worst part they unmask then leaked to the press.

IMO, Sullivan is interfering with the 2020 election by keeping the Flynn case open as long as possible. It gives ammunition to the fake news, anti-Trump media and democrats.
Judge Sullivan brings great dishonor and lack of credit to the judiciary. His actions reflect the worst of legal misconduct and blatant bias against a defendant. He must be recused and held accountable (punished!)

This “treason” remark came AFTER Flynn plead GUILTY to the charge. The judge may have been way out of line. Meanwhile, Flynn was apparently perjuring himself.

re #9 - General Flynn had been unjustly accused by an agency he probably trusted, been bankrupted, was undoubtedly physically and mentally exhausted, and THEN was threatened with having that same corrupt agency do the same to his son and his family. I know what I would do. There is a legal system in this country but not much of a justice system left. (retired leo)

IMO, Judge Sullivan has been directed to do this by someone who will benefit from the results. Such as? This is viewed by them as a win/win. If Trump loses 2020, he is forced to pardon Flynn before leaving office. If he wins, this delay forces him to do the same. Either way a pardoned Flynn is still a felon and has less standing to sue for violation of his rights. THAT is where the answer to the question asked above lies.

Like Roberts and many others, they have something on the judge. He could be in the closet, child porn, an affair but there is something.

Recuse? He needs to resign the bench and go away. He has tainted his own legacy. He had no interests to protect that needed a lawyer until he raced to defend his buddy Obama. Obama is poison to everyone, and I would like to know when the democrats are going to realize that reality.

The judge is likely to be removed from the case by the next court up. Sooner rather than later would be good.

He doesn't need to recuse himself. He just needs to dismiss the case.

Follow the money.
Somebody got the goods on Sullivan.
If he dismisses the case against Flynn, Obama goes down hard.
So expect a Fort Marcy Park suicide, with a dozen bullets self-inflictedly in the back of his head.

Fascinating reading for those who like to see how the courts function (even if you are at times appalled by them).
It appears from lawyer Cleveland's writing that Sidney Powell is even smarter than I thought, and that takes a lot, since I thought she is pretty darned smart. Frankly, especially in this case, the writ of mandamus was an absolute master stroke, basically a "checkmate" move against Sullivan. Once he has this writ against him, the mere existence of the writ (regardless of which way it goes) will ENSURE that Sullivan has to recuse himself, or if he is stupid enough, be recused by a higher court.
Checkmate, Sidney Powell.
Any new judge will immediately dismiss the case, if for no other reason than the same reason you would drop a smoking grenade and run away before it explodes.
